View Full Version : So if there's really a movie coming out about Oher...

...that sure would make Oher an interesting story and marketable player. He's potentially a player who could help a team score prime time games and sell more jerseys. I wonder if that affects his value to NFL teams.

Good point... I don't think it'll really affect his draft stock but I'm sure that's why he was invited to NYC... I see him going anywhere from #8 to #20... hopefully to #9 ;)

He's already a likely top 10-15 pick, I dont think it can get much higher.

I once had an Al Del Greco jersey, so anything is possible.

That one must be worth some money.:)

I have a Rob Davis jersey; he was a long snapper. Does that count? Do I win anything?

He already has a best-selling book written by a premiere author about him. I'm not sure the movie would really blow him up much bigger unless it was a big budget film with lots of marketing.

So if Oher goes on to be a hall of fame left tackle that wins several superbowls, how many more movies do you suppose we'll make about him?

What's sad and really makes me angry is that I've heard alot of what is in The Blind Side being used against Oher in this draft process, which is really, really crappy. Things like, questioning his ability to learn, or his character. If Oher's life story of overcoming poverty and inner city violence goes in as a negative in his scouting reports, then I have even less faith in mankind than I did before. I've heard countless interviews with Oher and there isn't anything wrong with his mental faculties and in fact, his overall intelligence is impressive for someone with such a checkered educational past.

I sincerely hope Michael Oher goes on to have a storybook career in the NFL.

Exactly, i love this guy and i think he'll go on to be the best tackle from this draft.

It would be so ironic if Michael Oher went on to play RT or OG in the NFL after the Blindside novel and movie.

Birk jerseys were pretty popular in MN too. Knowing Vikings fans most of them have probably already burned them now that he is not with the team.

I've been meaning to buy a Clady jersey, and he doesn't even have an interesting story. He is just awesome.

I wish Oher nothing but the best, I think he is a prospect that gets a little over analyzed

He has been over-analyzed in my opinion, he has it all from a physical standpoint and is a very hard-working, coachable player. He was dominant in the SEC as a 4-year starter, giving up only 4 sacks. The Blind Side is a great book, but it has led to a lot of questioning of Oher's intelligence. He does have a learning but he didn't do terrible on the Wonderlic and has a great attitude, he was a stud here and will be a stud in the NFL.

As for the movie, filming just started in Atlanta. I hear that his adoptive parents will be played by Dennis Quaid and Sandra Bullock so it should be a big movie.

Semi on-topic here, but the same could apply to Mark Sanchez. With the increasing Latino population in the United States, Sanchez could become a very powerful marketing tool, especially given that he plays quarterback. Now, the teams that I think would benefit most from his marketability don't really need him (except San Francisco, forgot about them), but Jacksonville wouldn't be out of the question either.

The Jaguars could bank big time on Sanchez if they ended up moving to LA like long rumored.

I was going to post the same thing. Linemen can be marketable. People here in Indy absolutely LOVE Jeff Saturday, myself included. I'm not even sure why, we just do.
