View Full Version : Fantasy Draft Class

I did this on another message board two years ago and it was a lot of fun.
It's basically a draft where all players eligible for the 2009 NFL draft are available in a pool. Each team is starting with NO PLAYERS on their roster so they have to build their team from the ground up using ONLY this draft class.
There are 8 teams in a snake draft. The order will be random.
You don't have any specific roster requirements, but we will be going 32 rounds. 8 x 32 = 256 picks altogether. KR and PR are required but they can double as WR or DB or whatever. No Ks and Ps because every draft class usually produces like 1 or 2 at the most and many times they are UDFAs. Also, who cares?
The cool thing about this is that instead of voting on who has the best team (we could do that right after the draft), time will eventually tell who has the best team. If we keep these teams somewhere, and maybe have the same owners, this game could turn into a dynasty-type game. Example: we retain the players we want to keep after the '09 season and then have the same draft next year, building the team. Or you could just do a whole new draft and declare a winner at some point after the draft class has been in the league for a while. That's down the road, but the initial draft is also very fun.
Who is interested? Any more than 8 and I think people would end up having some pretty stupid players starting at LT for example.
If we could get all 8 GMs tonight I'd be willing to start this tonight. Other than that there will be an hour clock that runs from 5pm-11pm ET Mon-Thurs. I encourage Big Boards obviously and what I'd really like is for us to all agree on being here to get big chunks of it done at certain times.

Looks like we have 6, how much longer do you want to wait to see if you get 8.
Also we are drafting 32 players with no set list of who we need to draft, but should we draft a line up and then build them as years go on and just add to our depth charts. After two years if we do this we will have a 64 set team roster which I belive the NFL uses 54 or 56 team rosters. So the 2nd year and on we can make the draft smaller so it does not take as long. Just a thought.
