Lets hear who and why?

Strongside
04-19-2009, 05:15 PM
Adrian Peterson because he's the best RB in the NFL and will probably have to carry his team on his back, again. If he gets hurt I'd go for Micheal Turner

I can't go against Adrian Peterson. He just has it all and will probably take home the rushing title if he can stay healthy.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Chris Johnson.

Kind of a useless poll. It will be 80% Adrian Peterson. Portis will get 10%, Turner will get 7%, Other will get 2%, and Williams will get one vote from Blindsite.

I don't think he has a legit shot at all. (Yes, I know he had 1,300 yards last year)

Leon Washington needs to get a lot more carries in that offense and most likely will.

Adrian Peterson at a slower more solid weight?
WTF? "slower more solid weight"
Sense none that makes.

And my vote is for Peterson!

Then who twill it be?

Shane P. Hallam

That wasn't part of the question!

I am not sure, but I would bet money it won't be Turner, Portis, or DWill. AD is healthy likely, but that is unlikely in and of itself. I doubt Gore will either.

I think he is say that because Adrian Peterson is putting on more weight. He is trying to be around 230 or so I think and if Adrian says it wont affect his speed then I as a fan will not be concern.

I went with the Homer pick and picked Adrian Peterson as well.

Easy... Jay Cutler. Teams will drop all 11 guys trying to defend his passing ability, and he will take off, and average 17.3 yards a carry. He'll also lead the league in passing, but that's expected.

Steven Jackson. There is no real #2 back on that team. If he's healthy, he's going to get 360+ carries.

He will also lead the league in interceptions, fumbles and pouty faces after his own bad plays.

Also, the OU homer in me won't let me pick against All-Day

I'm taking Adrian Peterson. He'll carry the ball most, and his talent is something special. All the guys on the list are talented too, but I see AP doing some better. DeAngelo Williams is a talent, but Stewart will take carries away form him. Portis will get close, but get banged up again. Turner will have more attention on him this year than ever. Tomlinson just isn't the same. Peterson takes this.

Leon will get more carries, but so will TJ. Ryan is going to pound the crap out of the ball, there will be no shortage of opportunities for TJ.

I think we may add another back in the draft, Caulcrick might get some carries if we keep him around in a LeRon McClain role, and LW will get the extra touches that have been mentioned. I think TJ's carries definitely go down this year.

For the thread, I think AD is the obvious pick, although I love me some MJD and he's an interesting pick for other without Fred Taylor around.

He's capable but I don't think he gets the carries needed.

AP is the safe pick, but Forte's stars could align IMO.

If I had to create odds on this (keeping in mind i have no oddsmaking experience):

Adrian Peterson 2-1
Michael Turner 8-1
Clinton Portis 9-1
LaDainian Tomlinson 10-1
Steven Jackson 10-1
Matt Forte 12-1
DeAngelo Williams 12-1
Thomas Jones 20-1
Frank Gore 25-1
Steve Slaton 30-1
Maurice Jones-Drew 30-1
Marshawn Lynch 30-1
Chris Johnson 30-1
Other 15-1

Any of these seem off?

Michae Turner should have 1,400+, but I doubt he gets as many carries as last season.

Frank Gore 25-1?

He gets the same FB from when he rushed for 1,695 yards and a new OC who likes to run the ball. I think his odds are better than 25-1.

DeAngelo Williams 12-1, I think his odds are better also.

Matt Forte 12-1, those are to good. His odds are more like 25-1.

At first I was thinking Matt Forte cause I figure Adrian will break his leg in the pre-season. But being the homer for AP that I am I picked him.

Darren McFadden!!!

Seriously I know AD is the best back right now. But every year somebody new emerges as a top RB. I could even see Chris Wells challenging for the rushing title if he goes to the right team and stays healthy.

The poll should be:

Adrian Peterson or Other

I'll take the other every time. Peterson has way too many durability issues to be a consensus pick to win the rushing title. I just don't trust his running style.

I picked Frank Gore because SF is due for a turnaround and they'll rely on him for the bulk of their offense. He also gos against some soft defenses in the division. I see it as a similar situation to Jamal Lewis when he won the rushing title.

i'd vote on this line, i picked other because i think that chris johnson has a legit chance, and same with matt forte... turner is probably 5th in my mind, with johnson, ad, gore, forte, turner in that order

I was coming in here thinking I was going to be the only one to SJax, but now that I know that I won't be, I will say SJax tears his ACL in week 3 of the preseason, and Brian Leonard unexpectedly rushes for 1700 yards, receives for 1200, and throws 7 TDs on Halfback passes and wins MVP of the league.

Adrian Peterson and there is only one way he doesn't get it, if he gets hurt. If he's healthy he will rush for as many if not more yards than he did last year. He's not going to be slower than last year and that whole weight thing was just blown out of proportion by internet rubes. AD is a freak and I expect him to run for 2000 in the next couple years.
