View Full Version : If you could a prospect to your team before the draft...

...who would it be and why?

Say you can add any prospect to your team right now, and still have all of your draft picks. Sort of like a freebie.

However, there is one catch. It cannot be a guy who plays a position Scott has for one of your team's top needs, listed here:

http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Team-Needs.php

Who ya got?

I think for me, without it being a WR, DB or DE, I'd pick BJ Raji to my Bears.

Aaron Curry is also veryyy tempting (as are some of the o-lineman) but he'd be our 3rd linebacker and we like jumping to nickel too much for me to be on board with that.

Raji however would step right in and instantly upgrade our NT position and hopefully take blockers away from guys like Harris and Ogun so they can make plays.

Edit: Totally missed the word "add" in the title....woops.

So I can't pick anyone on defense? No defensive line, no linebackers and I'm not enamored of the DBs. Jeremy Maclin to make Broncos spread offense elite.

Aaron Curry without a doubt

If I could a prospect right now, that would be why we american football. :D

Seriously though, Michael Crabtree. Because whoever the Jets quarterback is, he needs someone to throw the ball to, and Jerricho Cotchery while a good receiver, proved he isn't that go to guy.

Houston Texans

Can't take a DT,S, or OLB according to the list of the team's needs.

I'd take CB Malcolm Jenkins with the freebie.

Then hopefully the Texans could get OLB Clay Matthews with the 1st round pick.

WR is definitely listed for the Jets on Scott's needs.

You lose American Football.

It would be Aaron Curry for the Bills. Become our dominant LB, let Kawika go nuts, and Poz would be very solid in a strong unit like that. Most importantly, Keith Ellison would not be starting. Jason Smith would be my only guy to take above him even if I could include those needs.
(hehe... strong unit)

I missed that part. I failed. :(

Okay, trying again: BJ Raji.

Because Kris Jenkins, BJ Raji and Shaun Ellis as a the DL in the 3-4 would have opposing offensive lines pissing themselves. And because I want the Jets to trade for Shaun Rogers or Marcus Stroud last year in addition to Kris Jenkins.

Bj Raji or Brian Orakpo

Can't take an outside linebacker, defensive back, or tight end for the Browns. I take Aaron Curry to play inside. (Speaking of which, that is a bigger need than tight end)

Eugene Monroe. That's pretty easy.

OT. Andre Smith or maybe Monroe

Scott doesn;t have OT listed as one of the Falcons top 3 needs, but it is a need. I'd give Jason Smith to the Falcons, move Sam Baker to RT and make Tyson Clabo the first lineman off the bench. Clabo can play OT and OG, so he would get so much playing time rotating in that he'd practically be a starter.

This one's easy, Raji to Oakland. I had to think about Orakpo for a second there.

Vikings. No OT, WR, or DL.

Hmm... going to have to say Mark Sanchez. Curry is a beast, but a WCO QB like Sanchez helps our team a lot more.

Stafford to New England, does free mean they dont have to pay him too?

Well I cant pick WR, LB, or OT for the Ravens, so Malcolm Jenkins easily...Samari Rolle is old as hell, and I have qualms regarding both Fabian Washington and Dominique Foxworth...definitely Malcolm Jenkins, followed by Jarron Gilbert...I think he will be a hell of a 3-4 DE

Flippityskip91
04-22-2009, 08:01 PM
Um...I'm gonna go with either Jasper Brinkley or Michael Crabtree. Crabtree gives us a good receiving option to go along with...oh wait, we don't have any other WRs. Brinkley, I just feel that he would be a beast in the middle of our 3-4.

Jason Smith would be a really good fit for what they do on the OL in Green Bay.

OT is definitely on the list for the Packers...

Well for some strange reason Scott doesn't have DL as a need for the Chiefs so I would take Tyson Jackson no question and then draft Raji 3rd over all to jump start the Chiefs 3-4.

For the Pats it would be Aaron Curry easily. Eugene Monroe or Brian Orakpo would be nice too.

For the Steelers, I'd probably take Michael Crabtree as a nice Hines Ward replacement in the future!

Oh, whoops. I read "cannot" as "must" in my haste. In that case, I'd send Knowshon to Green Bay.

So for the Vikings, there is no RT, WR, or DL. I'd probably go with Matthew Stafford, it'd give us a franchise QB, although Sanchez would probably fit in the west coast offense better, I like Stafford more as a prospect.

Yep. It should be RT, OLB, FS but whatever. We need a QB but in later rounds (c'mon McCloughan, TAKE STEPHEN MCGEE! Your boy, Mike Sherman loved him!).

I'd say Matthew Stafford. He could take a while to learn under McNabb, since a lot of us aren't certain about Kolb.

First choice is Aaron Curry followed by Brian Orakpo.

Keith Bulluck and David Thornton are FA's after this season, and Curry can take over for one of them or play MIKE. Kyle Vanden Bosch and Jevon Kearse are also FA's, so a talented, young DE would be a good investment.

I'd say Jason Smith for the Bengals.

Definitely Crabtree to the Ravens.

Though Curry inside next to Ray Ray would be terrifying.

04-22-2009, 09:42 PM
Jeremy Maclin for the Steelers (No CB, OL, DL). Fills two needs as a burner WR and Kick Returner. Curry would be a close second to take over for Farrior, but it's not as immediate as a need.

Matthew Jones
04-22-2009, 09:53 PM
No LB or S...pretty sure I'd take Jason Smith. Not a huge need but he's one of the top prospects this year and Stafford doesn't really make sense.

Holmes, Crabtree, Miller and Sweed would be an incredible receiving corps in a few years.

Definitely Crabtree to the Ravens.

Though Curry inside next to Ray Ray would be terrifying.

The point was you cant take one of the needs scott listed...WR is our #1 need lol LB is #2...you listed the 2 you arent allowed to!

Matt Stafford

Well for the Jets...basically all of the top prospects are ruled out. There's really no place on our line for any of the OL's or for Curry at LB, we can't take a QB or a WR, and it's going to have to be somebody that will be out of reach at 17. Looking at Scott's top 10 prospects that leaves Orakpo (we have enough OLB's), Malcolm Jenkins, Beanie Wells, and BJ Raji.

I have to agree with Crickett and go with Raji. We've got enough defensive backs not to take Jenkins here, though if he somehow slips to 17 I think he definitely gets some consideration purely based on value. Wells could definitely be available by 17, so it's kind of Raji by default. He'd make our defensive line downright scary and improve depth considerably at both NT (Jenks can obviously play there efficiently as well) and DE (Jenks would probably start there kicking Coleman into a backup role).

Bummer I can't take Freeman though.

Orakpo and gholston together !!!

Most athletic duo at OLB ever(but with gholston also the suckiest)

BB, why must you deprive me of Louis Delmas?

Can I get James Laurinaitis and move him outside? If I can, that's what I'll do. If not, then I'll go Ron Brace.

04-23-2009, 01:53 AM
For the Browns it's close between Aaron Curry and Michael Crabtree, Curry would be an ILB for us so that doesn't count as one of the needs.

I would have to give Curry the nod and hope we draft Crabtree :)

Curry, followed very closely by Raji and Andre Smith.

Curry first and foremost, but after than prolly monroe or smith (our OLine would be unfair) or crabtree would be tempting(play big12 football, just passing and what is that thing you talk about called defense?)

Orakpo actually reminds me allot of Anthony Spencer...of cause Spencer didnt have the workout numbers, but i see them as similar players. As you can see, im probably not as high on Orakpo as some people are.

I would give the Bengals a young Center like Eric Wood or Alex Mack so that they wouldn't have to address it in this draft.

As it is now, one of those two men will have his named called to the Bengals in the second round on Saturday night.

I think Orakpo would be a beast as a 4-3 RE, even maybe a LE if he learns to stay low and hold the POA better. I don't like him nearly as much as an OLB in the 3-4.
