There’s chatter in league circles that a surprise pick could be made in the top ten of the 2009 draft.

Of course, that could be said in any given year.

But one source connected to one of the teams picking in the top ten thinks that an eyebrow-raising pick could be coming, given the names that currently are expected to be called at the top of the draft.

We’ve got a weird feeling that the surprise could be Percy Harvin to the Raiders at No. 7.

Remember this — 31 teams can scream “no way in hell” from the tops of their lung. But if only one says “yes” in round one, then the player is a first-round pick.

Harvin fits the Raiders profile.

Receiver. Fast. Potentially explosive. Perceived bad boy.

But NFLN’s Mike Mayock recently told Dan Patrick that Harvin has top-ten talent. And one team that possibly wouldn’t care about a little weed and/or a lot of attitude is the Raiders.

Try to nail the pick. I don't think it's Harvin to OAK but I'd be willing to bet there will be some sort of Ginn-like surprise in the top ten.

I have two (with no thought behind them):
-Jeremy Maclin at 6 to CIN.
-Patriots moving up to 9 to take Andre Smith.

Throw out your ideas.

Josh Freeman to the 49ers.

I can see that happen, especially if Sanchez is gone by then.

I am in the minority, but I have felt for a long time that Harvin is better than Maclin, though he probably won't go that high. I think if Oakland takes Harvin it could be a good pick. Steve Smith 2.0 potential. He and Chris Wells and Vontae Davis are 3 top ten talents who probably will go mid to late first round.

I don't know if this counts, but I'm starting to feel Sanchez at #2 is a very real possibility.

A team trades up to acquire Mark Sanchez in the top 10.

If Sanchez goes number four, I could also see Josh Freeman go number eight to Jacksonville.

Jacksonville may be targeting Beanie, I think thatd be a huge surprise.

DHB to the Raiders and MAYBE Wells to Jacksonville.

But I don't see the later unless Jacksonville trades down, and even then I still have trouble seeing it. They would want another back, but they just give MJD that new extension. I could see them going after perhaps Shonn Greene in the 2nd or 3rd, but I don't see Wells.

Curry starts falling and the New England Patriots trade into the top 10 and grab him. I predict trade with Green Bay.
