My grades for New England:

Patrick Chung - C+

They needed to cover TEs but this is over Maualuga and Everette Brown. We traded Matt Cassel and Mike Vrabel for Chung? Eh...

Ron Brace - C

Decent value and he fits but it makes me feel like Vince Wilfork is on his way out. I am concerned about the lack of a pass rush.

Darius Butler - C

Hits about as hard as a pillow and is allergic to making plays. He's an excellent athlete but I don't like him. Did predict this one.

Just a couple of days ago it was reported that Wilfork and his agent are very pleased with long term negotiation, he's not going anyhwere.

HMMM... Brace, Butler, and Chung... Some solid role players that should excel in the New England system.
Plus, they have 4 more picks in the 3rd round. They are gonna get some real solid players, who can step in and make an impact right away.

I ******* hate how today ends after the 2nd round. Next year they gotta make the 1st day 3 rounds again, and start it at 1 eastern instead.

The good thing about this years draft is that it has run smoothly and hasn't dragged on at all.

San Fran and Miami should have their choice of some very good pass rushing OLBs. Barwin, Brown, Sintim.

if they get brown...i'll...i'll...be happy

all hell is gong to break on the Bills' Message Board.

I think your being way too hard on them I like Chung, as I think he wouldn've lasted much longer, love butler, and like Brace.

I don't think I can support the Raiders anymore... I mean after years of questionable decisions, stupid deals, stubbornness, shifting blames, etc. I have overlooked it all. We Raider fans have put up with so much absurd and inexcusable crap lately, but I came into the draft deciding that I would give Al the benefit of the doubt. I had not seen much leading into the draft to suggest that the Raiders would improve next season, but I'm an optimistic guy.

Well, after these first two rounds, I am fed up with it. How can this be allowed? It's absolute BS... Someone let me know when we get a new owner.

Smokey Joe

Denver is having a weird draft

Moreno was not really a surprise. The fit is perfect and could be a huge help to our new QB's. I think the team might've been leery of Orakpo after having Crowder bust on them (good old Texas softies).

Ayers is a versatile guy and I see him fitting in well in the 3-4/4-3 hybrid.

They probably had a late first round grade on Smith. If you heard him on Sirius he said that during his visit to the Broncos they really clicked and he surprised the coaching staff by immediately grasping the defense they were going to be running. I'm not loving the trade value, but I really like the player.

McBath was a sleeper and a number of people had him going early. Looks like a nice fit for the Nolan's cover 1 looks.

The Denver secondary is old. They're drafting the replacements now so they can have a learning year w/o being thrown directly into the fire.

The puzzling piece is the lack of big 3-4 DL. Perhaps they didn't feel there was value after Jackson went off the board. It will be interesting to see what they do in round 3.

Also, the Bills can definitely deal some of their players "on the block" (Parrish, Kelsay, Simpson) for mid-late rounders. I'm loving what the Bills are doing on the o-line. Walker at LT for a year or so and then hoping Demetrius Bell can develop at start there.

In Minnesota's scheme? He'll kill it as a RT. Adrian Peterson's new BFF.

Moore to ATL.
I don't think any scheme is going to help. His feet are so slow. No one bends at the waist and stairs at the ground more than Philip Loadholt. If his head isn't between his knees, he's straight up and down and way too high. Leverage is going to be an issue and he'll get worked by NFL Ends.

Good pick for the Vikings, but they still should have taken Oher.

Stop it. Just stop. The Patriots have shown time after time that they know what they're doing. Christ, stop bitching and moaning. They know what they're doing.

It's not like the Patriots are infallible in the draft. They take busts just like everyone else. Laurence Maroney is leaning that way, Ben Watson was a bust, Chad Jackson was a bust, David Thomas and Garrett Mills were busts, Marquise Hill didn't get on the field before he died, they've taken some defensive backs last year who they're already trying to replace, and they of course has Gus Scott and Dexter Reid that one year in the third and fourth. Both projected UDFA, neither did anything. Are most Patriots picks pretty good? Yes. Do they mess up? Yes.

Pats are having a good draft, IMO, ROP. Don't fret buddy. Darius Butler could eventually be the best CB in this draft, Patrick Chung is a player, and Brace is insurance for Wilfork possibly hitting FA. Vollmer is "eh," but as PF28 said, his ceiling is through the roof!

Patrick Chung is a liability in most kinds of coverage except against tight ends, Darius Butler hits as hard as a pillow (I would have nightmares about him covering a physical WR like Terrell Owens), Brace is only a second round pick because he can play nose tackle, and Vollmer was projected as a seventh rounder by most people.

This is also a big part of the bad grade. The team has no young, proven MLB to put next to Mayo and we're starting a stroke victim approaching his 40s with a bad knee and Tully Banta-Cain, a guy who the team liked so much after his first year as a starter that they didn't even try to re-sign him. Fine. Trade me your Super Bowl wins for the Eagles' highly ranked draft classes, okay?

I think the Patriots could have easily won a couple more Super Bowls if they actually addressed key issues on their defense. They melted down against the Colts in an AFC Championship game they ultimately lost 38-34 after failing to replace an extremely lethargic defense. After this, Bill Belichick obviously decided his offense wasn't good enough and went on a signing rampage. The defense got one player (Adalius Thomas) in his 30s. I don't see how you allow 38 points in a playoff game and then add only one player on that side of the ball.

Guess how that year ended? The Patriots went to the Super Bowl, Tom Brady led the team down the field in the fourth quarter and threw a touchdown to give them the lead...and the defense blew it on the last drive again. That's two times they should have won the Super Bowl if not for an old, slow, injury-prone defense.

I agree, this draft was all about depth and potential for NE and I think they did quite well.
