There's probably a thread like this already but i'd just like the say being a Jets fan I am so glad i'm from Cali.

I thought the inter-city media lovefest between NY/Boston was baseball thing, and it never ocurred to me until we drafted Sanchez. Damn it must suck to be a New York Jets fan that actually lives in New York. The whole Mets/Jets connection i never really thought about this and never cared, but now the whole thing is just so stupid too me.

my .02 cents.

I'm a german who grew up in Chicago rooting for the Giants, Knicks and Avalanche, now I live in buffalo so at least the knicks are kind of a local team that I support.

I love NYC and Patrick Roy was/is the second coming of jesus, if you're wondering why I didn't just become a chicago sports fan. That and I hated the cubs and most cubs fans love the bears and bulls so I naturally wasn't very fond those two teams either.

Being from Quebec, I don't even have a clear-cut favorite team. I mean, I don't really have any allegiance to a particular team. So I just go from liking one team to another depending on the players/system I like the most, or the opposite.

I do see some people with jerseys occasionally but really not that many people are Giants fans, I am always fighting with Fins fans in school, but they can't say anything we have a superbowl and we also beat them the last time we played... silly Dolphin fans...

Born and raised in West Virginia. My oldest brother (a huge sports nut like me) had me pick my favorite teams at the age of 6. I chose the 49ers, Lakers, and Giants. I've stuck with them ever since. That was 1986. I'm sure I probably picked the 49ers and Lakers because they were the big dogs in the 80's and I guess I chose the Giants in baseball just to stick with the overall California theme.

Born in Mobile, AL (<-- that used to be known as the Lizard State way back in the day) & used to walk to the Senior Bowl games as a child b/c I lived in the same neighborhood as Ladd Stadium & my draftnik obsession began therein. Became a hardcore Alabama Crimson Tide fan during the Bear Bryant Era (see sig below), went to HS in San Antonio, TX & became a Dallas Cowboys fan too.

Went to college at Alabama for 1.5 yrs. then transferred to Trinity U. in SA/TX completing 2 degrees there. Still a big fan of the alma mater, the Div. III Trinity Tigers who set the NCAA rcd. 2 yrs. ago for 16 laterals in their winning TD play to beat Millsaps College in the Miracle in Mississippi.

Living in the Bay Area in San Jose, now & have been sucked into becoming a 9ers fan over the last 11 yrs here due to NFL regional broadcasting, every Sunday during the season it's them or the Raiders on my cable dial (unless the Raiders are at home where they never sell out  ). I could channel my fandom toward the Raiders too, but, oh God <facepalm>

See, the first part is the same deal for me but I could have easily been a Cowboys fan as every one I am friends with is a Cowboys fan. Hell, I could see the Cowboys practice facility from my parents house.

I come from a state without ANY professional sports teams. I suppose growing up I was expected to root for teams from Pennsylvania or Ohio, but I'm glad I didnt. I didnt like any of those teams then and I still dont like them now.

My favorite players at that time were all from teams from the state of California: Jerry Rice, Magic Johnson, and Will Clark. 49ers, Lakers, and Giants.

Everyone in SD was such a homer growing up that it turned me off. They used to play the "San Di-e-go, Super Charrrgers" Through the halls of my elementary school every morning.

I also liked having all my own things. All my friends liked the same teams, my dad liked the local teams -- My younger brother and I said **** it and just came up with our own teams. He ended up with Dolphins/Spurs/Yankees

Just freak siblings I suppose.

First game of football i ever saw properly was the 1997 SEC Championship game. Some scrub called Peyton Manning lead a massive comeback to win 30-29 and i said i'd follow whatever professional team he played for, not even realising what a prospect he was.

After the first season i didnt think that was such a good idea. Guess it turned out alright but.

quite similar to why i choose the falcons. i saw michael vick in college and was amazed with this guy, then i said i would support what ever team he played for. so thats why i am a flacons fan. since i have been addicted to everything falcons, so recently went to atlanta to watch them play, also watched a hawks and thrashers game, so now follow them. thought i would round it off and also follow the braves, but dont really watch baseball.

the mike vick thing did not work out for me as well as manning did for you, but now we got matt ryan, and are superbowl bound. so guess all is well that ends well.
