View Full Version : What Conference Produces the Best Pros?
EarthWindandFire

I was thinking about this for a while now. Out of the 6 BCS conferences, which one produces the BEST pros? I have to go with the ACC, ALTHOUGH, I've noticed a roster full of Non-BCSers is really nasty too. Here is my all ACC team:
Offense
QB- Phillip Rivers
RB- Clinton Portis (Although if you want to make a case for Frank Gore I won't argue)
WR- Andre Johnson, Calvin Johnson (Wayne, Boldin, Moss, Holt.....the ACC is dirty at the reciever position)
TE- Jeremy Shockey (Him and Winslow are pretty similar; injury-prone head cases, so either/or)
OT- Walter Jones, Jared Gaither
OG- Chris Snee, Josh Beekman
C- Jason Brown
3-4 Defense
DE- Mario Williams, Julius Peppers
DT- Vince Wilfork
MLB- Ray Lewis, Jon Beason
OLB- Shawne Merriman, Manny Lawson
CB- Antonio Cromartie, DeAngelo Hall (I full expect both of these guys to bounce back this season...they are too talented not too)
S- Ed Reed, Adrian Wilson (Epic Tandem)
That is a pretty sick team but look at what the Non BCSers put ut:
Offense
QB- Ben Roethlisberger
RB- Michael Turner (Tempted to say LT but....its not 2006 anymore)
WR- Randy Moss, Steve Smith (Had to leave out Owens, Marshall, COlston, etc. ..........pretty sick group)
TE- Antonio Gates
OT- Ryan Clady, Michael Roos
OG- Brian Waters, Logan Mankins
C- Matt Birk
Defense
DE- Jared Allen, Osi Umenyiora
DT- Tony Brown
OLB- James Harrison, DeMarcus Ware
MLB- James Farrior, Brian Urlacher
CB- Domonique Rodgers Cromartie, Asante Samuel
S- Darren Sharper, Nick Collins
Do the Non-BCS schools make the best pros? That is a pretty impressive team. Post your all conference teams and see if any can beat those two.

Who else in the NFC East is better from the SEC?

We have done these all conference teams so many times on this site already. Instead of anybody wasting their time making an all conference list just do a search and find one of the previous threads. It's not like anything would have changed.

Yeah, WR's were tough to find. But, Dwayne Bowe and Hines Ward are two of the best blocking WR's in the NFL, which is a definite plus over some other WR corps. Bowe is a legit #1 WR too, and Ward is still a player to be reckoned with. Neither has elite speed though, so I decided on Henderson in the slot. I thought about Robert Meachem, but Henderson has outproduced him. And as Ward said, Peyton -> Witten would be very effective.
I love the OL. I could put, say Marcus McNeil at RT, but David Stewart is a 2nd Team All-Pro from the RT position. Maybe Ben Grubbs could be upgraded, but I like him a lot. He impressed me when the Titans/Ravens played twice last season. Maybe kick Marcus McNeil inside to LG. Max Jean-Gilles could be a good option. Aaron Sears and Jeff Smiley too.

Hm these SEC running backs have a lot to prove. <3 the ILBs.
Yup, McFadden is mostly based on potential, but Ronnie Brown is pretty good. Know who I totally forgot about? Felix Jones! There are others tho: Cadillac Williams, Joseph Addai, Earnest Graham, and Tony Richardson at FB. If a PR/KR is needed, Felix Jones would be automatic.

I was going how the MAC is now. I'm not doing this on a player by player basis.
hmmm...I would've done it based on guys who played in the MAC regardless of how it is now. Afterall, if you were in the MAC in college then you should count towards an All-MAC NFL team. You wouldn't put a guy like Ray Lewis in the ACC.

counting the U as Big East?
counting the U as Big East?
Just skimming over the list, all those guys were at the U when it was the Big East. Ditto for Ladanian Tomlinson being C-USA property even though TCU is currently Mountain West. Historical perspective is what it's all about.
