NCAA '10 Online Dynasty: Ult. Conf. (Week 3)

A bit early, but I don't feel like moving, so here goes.

Last year, I tried to run an online dynasty, which failed because my NCAA Disk screwed me out of playing online.

This year, we are ready to do it for real (and I have a back-up plan with our buddy Menardo!) This is for XBox 360


Here is the plan:

-A new feature this year in NCAA '10 is customizable conferences. This means, we will be getting 12 players, who get to pick any team they want (essentially,) and all play in the same conference.



So, I am just gauging interest here. Post if you are not only getting the game as soon as it comes out, but would be active and want in the NCAA Dynasty! Also, if you post what team you want in this thread, you don't get them, nugh said.

Menardo will be running this with me since he has run a successful Dynasty in 09, and I hope some of those guys want in here.


So, why join? Well, I will be doing some fun recruiting updates/battles in the thread for the dynasty, we'll be taking over the ACC, so conference championship! Finally, we will get teams based on a semi-applcation process and discussion to try and make things fair.

In terms of activity, I hope to have some back-ups. Worst case, I know guys elsewhere who can take over inactive teams. I think we can find 12 NCAA players however, especially over July/August.

1. I've been doing some searching, and thanks to djp's advice and looking at old/start-up dynasties, it seems most do 6 minute quarters. Is everyone cool with that?

2. We'll do it on Heisman.

3. As for OOC schedules, I will try and schedule the actual OOC for the given teams (since they are posted like 10 years in advance). Obviously, some will have to change (D2 teams, if one OOC team is in our conference (i.e. USC/Ohio State). If these falter, I'll try and replace them with OOC rivalries that may or may not happen IRL. Is everyone comfortable with that?

Also, what are we going do about playing offensive players on defense and vice versa? I understand that's part of the college game, but I think there should be some sort of substitution restrictions regarding the game.

Yup, As I said, all glitches are out. As for subs, we can make a rule if people want to, but I trust people somewhat and think it is quite easy to stop if someone is played out of position.

ACC on the move

It is official. The ACC no longer stands for Atlantic Coast Conference, but now will be called the “Athletic Championship Conference”. Though the BCS still stands, conferences all over college football are getting a shake up. Invitations were sent out to a number of teams to combine into a super-conference, replacing the ACC. Here are the teams rumored and confirmed to be joining this conference. We will profile these teams and their division as we get them.

The current ACC teams will all be moving to other conferences. More on which teams are going to which conferences later! Stay tuned!

ACC ATLANTIC DIVISION:

The Buckeyes accepted the invite, despite their rivals Michigan not accepting a bid. A team that has struggled in the big game, how will Ohio State fair when going up against Sec, Big 12, and Pac-10 teams every week? Some think it will lead to disastrous results, but Sophomore QB star Terrelle Pryor has other ideas. “We want to face the best and prove we are the best,” says Pryor. “This team is ready for the challenge after losing some great players. After winning the National Championship two years ago, Coach Les Miles has come forward and convinced Athletic Director Joe Alleva to accept an invite to the ACC. The team had a solid 2008, but they hope to take a step to the next level here in 2009. How will they adjust with some of the losses along the defensive line? Can they still compete with other top teams in the ACC? WR Brandon Lafell feels confident that he can continue his superior play. "I'm in the best shape of my life and I don't think there is a corner in the country who can stop me." When asked about how the team itself will do, Lafell simply said, "Everyone should watch out for us." I wouldn't discount Les Miles and the Tigers this year!

An up and coming team, Ole Miss came onto the scene after taking down Florida last year. With top NFL prospects on this team, they got an invite to the ACC despite not being an extremely high profile school. They may have a challenge ahead of them in competing with the best of the best, but our sources say that this team will stop at nothing short of the ACC Championship. All-American DE Greg Hardy told us, “If teams underrate us, they will be in for a big surprise on Saturdays.” When asked about his personal achievements this year, Hardy added, “Double my sacks of last year. Get ready for it.” 16 sacks? Good luck Greg.

We are hearing rumors that both the University of North Carolina and and Duke will be moving to the Big 12 with the realignment. The two basketball powerhouses will stay in the same division to continue their rivalry. Though this will likely heavily lower the level of quality football play in the Big 12, it is a good fit for these two teams.

Would a conference like this be complete without the powerhouse that is USC? Southern Cal was hesitant to accept an invite to the ACC, but after seeing some of the teams involved, they are confirmed and in. The outlook may be skeptical for some USC fans with an uncertain QB situation, but the USC has returners like Taylor Mays and Stafon Johnson to rely on. We had the opportunity to catch up with Coach Carroll and ask him about what he felt concerning the competition. “After seeing the talent in the ACC, Mike [Garrett] and I knew Southern California had to be a part of that.” Coach Carroll was his usual suave self when asked about USC’s chances to take it all. “We will compete, we will win games. I expect to win a National Title every year. This year is no different.” If USC finds a QB it likes, you may have a team that will quite possibly have an undefeated season.

We have no confirmation if Miami is going to also be joining back with the Big Ten. Commissioner John Marinatto declined to comment on the story. Will this revitalize a dying conference?

Oklahoma is the first Big 12 team to jump ship to the ACC. With defending Hesiman Trophy Winner Sam Bradford leading the team, Oklahoma has a ton of talent, young and old. Reaching the National Title after much skepticism about tiebreakers may no longer be an issue from facing elite level talent in the ACC. A big time recruiting team, Oklahoma should be at the top of the conference every year. Another Big 12 team and another Big East team are likely to join up. We saw Texas go head to head with Ohio State, and now they are not only in the same conference, but the same division. Heisman hopeful Colt McCoy is back to try and win a National Title. While he was unavailable for content because he was out shooting varmints, we expect he and the rest of the team is excited to be in the ACC. With good seniors, great young players, the Longhorns should compete.

West Virginia is another surprise entry into the ACC (I guess the Big East had to get represented?) but they are a team who has had success. With an electrifying team that is very versatile, I'm sure they will provide some upsets. Noel Devine, the star RB of the Mountaineers, was asked about joining the ACC, "Yeah man, it's awesome, can't wait, sweet." Eloquent words from an eloquent man.

As the SEC domination continues, the University of Auburn is definitely in the ACC as well. Auburn is a big name school, but I am surprised that they were chosen over some other schools in the area. I am not sure if they will be successful early on, but if this helps with recruiting in any way, maybe Auburn can return to some glory days.

The good thing atleast is that, the out of conference games arent that big a deal. Unless you're dead set on going to a BCS bowl or National Championship. But conference games are where it's at. :)

Exactly. Setting it any other way would make user vs. user games stink, and get very stale.

Like I said, if you are losing against the comp, you can pause and quit out two times. Three, and you'll get the loss.

Still tough to get into a groove on offense though, there's a RBBC so no one true RB to rely on, and the big play effect seems alot more tough so I've been having to dink and dunk but the defense has been good on here.

No, he wasn't. Those rosters are wrong past the Top 25. Take a look at Notre Dame's QB, it's not even right. Anthony Davis isn't even right. No one has the rosters done yet.

Something else bonus I can go if people are interested, and that is having custom sounds for each team.

Basically, if whoever wants custom sounds for their team posts the name of the song and youtube video (or mp3,) of the song (as well as WHEN you want the song to play), I will download them, cut them up, and make them all available for download in a zip file. Then we can burn them, and thus throughout the dynasty when playing at home and away from home, you'll hear whatever song the team wants you to.

It can be any song really. Also, if you choose to do this, don't tag the youtube links, just post the straight up: www.youtube.com/etc...

Go to My NCAA, and you can do it for EVERY game you play. Dynasty, online, Online Dynasty, etc.

You choose what teams get what sounds.
