I always see "I played him in HS" in almost every post that talks about prospects of any sport. I wanted to make a thread for the exact purpose.

Our HS hosted Greg Oden and Eric Gordon. Our crowd tore was relentless with the chants too.

I played against the dude who played Colbert in the movie of Friday Night Lights when he came out with some HS all star team to tour Australia. I popped him pretty good in the hole twice but he burned me on a RB streak right up the middle for a TD.

My freshman year I played in a basketball tournament in Santa Clara against schools that starred Tyson Chandler, Tayshaun Prince and DeShawn Stevenson. I actually had to guard Stevenson for our game and I think I was outscored something like 35-3 and was dunked on twice.

My high school was ass raped by Ryan D'Imperio. He was a running back back at Washington Township. Another person who also killed my high school when I was there was Albert Young who later went on to play at Iowa before Shonn Greene.

Torin Harris CB USC FR., he is a beast, played RB and he almost single handidly won us the state game but the kicker missed the game winning FG. Harris is super fast and is our best track athlete and he played QB, RB and CB for the football team. He is a monster.

-Kyle Palmieri (ranked top 20 in this year's NHL draft).
-Alex Velischek (ranked the 63rd best skater in NA in the NHL draft; also one of my best friends)
-Numerous kids who are playing/headed to play D1 or Major Junior (USHL & EJHL)
-i've also been coached by or skated with a boat load of former NHLers
-more than half my varsity lacrosse team plays at least D3 lax in college, and there's always at least a few that go D1 each year.
-too many D1 lax players/future players to name that i've played against
-watched Anthony Fasano play at my high school field when I was in 8th grade lol
-used to play pick up football, soccer, baseball, etc. with Sean Bierman (Vanderbilt lefty pitcher, i believe the Reds have the rights to him) he was the year ahead of me in hs.

I played against Gabe Watson in HS. I was 2nd string that year as he was two years ahead of me I believe, but I actually did line up against him one play. I was in at DE & he was the OT, happy to report that I at least avoided getting pancaked, though I was absolutely drove out of the play.
I also played baseball against former Notre Dame pitcher & current Yankees prospect Dan Kapala. In fact he hit me multiple times with pitches. Considering he is listed as throwing 93-95 now, ouch. That was the scariest thing I can remember playing sports, facing the guy who throws 15-20 mph faster than anyone else with a serious lack of control.

Obviously being in Australia, I haven't played with any NFL, NBA or MLB players.
I did train with Andrew Gaze once, thats as close as I have come to "playing" with an athlete from the American sports.
In Australian sports I have played with Mark Coughlan(Richmond, Aussie Rules), Andrew McDougal, and Shaun Marsh(Australia, Cricket).
Have played against Mitch Morton, Graham Polak, Ashley Sampi(Have played basketball with him) and a few others.

I was a year away from playing against Greg Paulus, in football. The best player I've faced is probably is Marcus Sales. You've probably never even heard of him, a WR for Cuse.
A RB from upstate NY who I want to throw out is Mike Bell. Very hard runner, dislocated my shoulder once when I went for a tackle. He should be able to go D-1.

I've played plenty of pickup games with Andy Rautins of Syracuse when i was in HS. Also use to play against 'Cuse incoming freshman Brandon Triche. Before he was a D-1 prospect he was kicking my ass in endless games of one-on-one. Also in the 'Cuse area was Greg Paulus and WSH Wizards F/C Andray Blatche I've seen. He has a quad-double in HS. I think pts, reb, ast, and blk.

I played baseball against Aaron Shafer, Blake Dewitt and Ross Detwiler.
My team played Cole Aldrich in a traveling tournament in 7th grade. He was 6'7, our tallest guy was 6'1.. we only lost by like 15 though.
I also played Al Nolen (Minnesota Gophers starting PG) in the same tournament, those two ended up playing each other in the finals, that was a great game. Nolen's team won by like 3.
Other than that, I've played Blake Hoffarber (the kid who hit the shot from his ass and won the ESPY and plays for the Gophers) in beer pong and nearly shut him out but they got 2 on the rebuttal.
And this wasn't me, but my high school pitching coach pitched against Joe Mauer in high school and Mauer went 5-5 with 3 doubles and 2 dingers

That's pretty cool, I played against Porcello in HS. Believe it or not he was playing frosh ball when he was a freshman, didn't play varsity till his soph year. They killed us, then I blew out my elbow when I got to play varsity and never got the chance to play against him again. Didn't hit off of him but I did pitch to him, and he hit a hard ground ball that smacked my friend in the knee and got to second. He was not a bad hitter either, it'll be interesting to see how he does in interleague play. When I saw him breaking off curves warming up it was the first time I got the term "pulled the string". He was in the 80's back then.
Got to hit off Evan Danieli same game, grounded out to second on the first pich. Was pretty glad I didn't strike out. Not nearly as good as Porcello but he threw hard also and is huge, like 6'8. The difference in control was the major difference between the two of them. He's playing for Notre Dame, but hasn't been fantastic, at least numbers wise.
Also was physics lab partners with Mike Weich, who's a guard at Army on the football team. Not well known obviously, I don't even know if he starts, but he's a cool guy.
I bowled Phil Hughes at an under 16's rep carnival.
Too bad nodoby besides the Poms and Aussies would have a clue who he is...

Michael Hawkins, DB Cowboys practice squad, former 5th round pick of GB
Travis Wilson, WR, Cowboys practice squad, former 3rd round pick of Cle
In basketball:
Deron Williams
Chris Bosh
Bracey Wright
Jason Maxiell
The only guy I actually played with on that list is Hawkins at Carrollton Turner, Travis Wilson played ball down the street at Carrollton Creekview...For Basketball Maxiell went to Newman Smith which was also in Carrollton on the same street as my school so it was always fun when he played us because he was shooting 3's and dunking on everyone all night.
Bracey and Deron both played ball at Colony, Texas and they were in our division so we saw them twice a year at least, and those two were probably the most hyped recruits in the area during that time so it was always a huge crowd for that game...Funny thing about those two is Bracey was the better prospect back then and the more hyped guy, the scorer, nobody really saw Deron being the much better player.
We played against Bosh in a tournament game when he was at Lincoln and of course he beasted, Maxiell was probably the most impressive/dominant guy out of the bunch...He was so big, could shoot the 3 with the perfect touch, and it wasn't even close when he went up for a dunk, he has really developed nicely in the league.

Well my high school's Kicker goes to Temple, I don't even know if he is on the team though, and I can't remember his name either, lol. He's a kicker, what do you expect? haha.

Actually I played with Kyle Kozak, a RS Freshman at Indiana. He is a DE on the roster, but he is actually focusing on being a longsnapper so he can potentially have a future in the NFL. He was a pretty big recruit (generally speaking for my area) but he got in trouble with the cops at my school and moved to Ohio for his senior year. He's an asshole, but a damn good football player.

Played against a lot of hockey players. Played a pickup game with Letang and Bourdon. Played against David Perron. Was at a fitness camp with Brad Marchand and Sam Gagner.
Played football with Sam Giguere of the Colts. Played against Fredo Plesius of Baylor and Renaldo Sagesse of Michigan.

Went to school with Herb Donaldson (UDFA for the Saints this year) and I played a pick-up game with Jeremy Maclin 4 years ago and when he went to stiff arm me (he was slowed down after breaking tackles by my other 6 teammates) and he practically broke my nose...
also I went to school with Olympic Wrestler James Mungo...

Whered you go to HS? We have no one from EHS. We have a few walk-on kickers coming in, but our scholarship kicker is from North Penn.

Ouch, ya its late and I had a dumbshit moment, I just couldn't think of the name, but ya graduated after my freshman year, I didn't know him and the only time I think I ever said a word to him was freshman year in the weight room after football practice...

yea he has a nice story. His father was shot when he was 5, but he just picked up wrestling as a freshman in HS and was on the olympic team a couple years later. It shows what hard work can do!

Ya, the wrestling coaches (and subsequently the teams) at my HS (at least when he was there, 3 of the 4 have left) were the **** and we consistently sent 4 or 5 guys to state every year...

He was a walk on, I think, but he graduated in '06. He wasn't even sure if he was going to stick with it so he may just be a student there now. He was a great kicker though. Really accurate. He'd but the ball at the 15, 10, and even 5 yard line along each sideline and nail kicks in between the uprights pretty consistently. Absolutely crazy how accurate he was, but once he got out to 45 yards in game situations, he wasn't incredibly reliable.

I doubt he's on the team then, because our kicking game was awful last year; he could've started.
