View Full Version : Biggest Homer Final: Jake Delhomme is an amazing post-season QB vs. John Clay to Iowa
Sniper

It's here. Is Jake Delhomme an amazing post-season QB? Is John Clay committing to Iowa? SWDC has voted these two as the biggest homers on the board. Two men enter, only one leaves with the prestigious championship of the first ever SWDC Biggest Homer vote!
In the blue and white corner...
http://www.totalprosports.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2009/04/jake-delhomme.jpg
There are a ton of reasons why the Panthers might lose, but dammit, Jake Delhomme won't be one of them. By God, he's an amazing post-season QB. He can't be stopped. Julius Peppers is due for an 83 sack season some time soon. Panthers or crack? I say Panthers. SWDC, is he the biggest homer?
In the gold and black corner...

He's made some really brutal predictions before. The John Clay fiasco was his finest hour, but let us not forget all of the dandies in the recruiting thread(s). Iowa will go 13-0 and win the national title this year, dammit! Mitch King will be a day 1 pick. You could make a pretty solid team with players that Told said would go to Iowa and didn't. SWDC, is he the biggest homer?

I almost picked Blindsite based on the Delhomme quote alone...but I can't vote against Told in a homer contest.

Hard to vote against John Clay.

This is tough for me.
On one hand, every week this past football season, if just one poster made a comment about how Deangelo Williams might not be better than Burner Turner, or that the Panthers are going to lose on a last second field goal after playing an amazing game, Blindsite would be there within seconds to tell you how much of a failure at life you are in a post longer than most novels.
However, I simply cannot overlook my two years of Iowa bashing and ridicule I've had to endure because of one man's incredible efforts. It's honestly gotten to the point where I don't even try to defend these attacks. Told has broken my spirit. :(

Told is so homerific

That Jake Delhomme debate is right up there with "best secondary this decade" for homeristic fail. So I think this has to go to BS because he was more homerific at his peak and doesn't exactly lack in quantity either.

I think what sets Told apart is the fact that he completely lacks self awareness. He geniunely believes he is always right. And when it comes to Iowa, he is almost always wrong.

Blindsite got my vote.
When Blindsite actually takes off those homer goggles (which is not often at all), he's not really that bad a poster and can sometimes post some interesting thoughts on the league. Still, he deserves to be in this position because he was almost unbearable to read at a few points during last season. I hope the Panthers go back to mediocrity so I don't have to go through that again.

I know I have needled Blindsite for being a homer before, but I really feel like he is a victim of perhaps the worst timing in the history of SWDC with the Delhomme comment. I don't think anyone expected the world, but I doubt they were many who predicted Delhomme would perform a stunningly accurate impression of a washed up QB against AZ.

Timing is everything though. Anyone can just blindly hype their boys, it takes a special level of homer to achieve the epicness of Blindsite's Delhomme fail.

Told is the most blatant homer I've ever seen. BlindSite has a few glaring errors but other than that he's average.

I voted told for untold numbers of reasons. Blindsite may get homeriffic, but at least he makes some contributions to the board, and at least he attempts to back some of his arguments with some reasoning. Told just types things so he can touch the funny symbols on the keyboard. He's like a trained ape, only not as interesting or informative.

C. cheering for a team that does it right

E. cheering for a team that can win without the top rated, prima donna recruits
F. cheering for a coach that doesn't give in to players requests and threats

Or win 2 Big 10 titles (none outright) over the last 18 years and be only the 4th winningest program in the big 10 over something like the last 10 years.
F. cheering for a coach that doesn't give in to players requests and threats
Possibly true, but Iowa has had a ton of both major and minor player problems over the last few years.
G. cheering for a a team that refuses to compromise their way of doing things for anyone

If it's so obvious that Told is the biggest homer, why not just make a thread titled "Told is a giant homeristic tool" rather than making several polls and several posts just to say the same thing?

False. Iowa fans are notoriously awful. The ones on here outside of Told are actually the exception, told is the rule.
I imagine it has something to do with the fact that they live in a place where there's absolutely nothing else to do. I've noticed the same thing with Nebraska fans.

I approve of this message.
I'm so glad I'm out of that state.
To further this, it's more of the fans that don't go to school there but live in the eastern part of the state. Iowa football is their professional team, and it is the center of most of their lives. They get very serious and a lot of times delusional about the program. It's like just because Iowa is a Big XI university, they automatically are comparable to all other big universities.
