OK so with the offseason dragging I thought we could get a fun discussion going. Basically the idea is you pick

any offense(two TE, RB, FB, WR etc)-11
any defense(34, 43 etc)-11
Kicker
Punter
Kick returner
Punt returner
Long snapper
Offensive coordinator
Defensive coordinator
Head coach
GM/President
Owner

However you can only pick 1 player/staff from each team ie-If you pick Peyton Manning as QB you can't pick Bill Polian;

Well here we go

QB PHILIP RIVERS(San Diego)

RB ADRIAN PETERSON(Minnesota)

TE TONY GONZALEZ(Atlanta)

WR CALVIN JOHNSON(Detroit)

WR ANDRE JOHNSON(Houston)

WR TJ HOUSHMANDZADEH(Seattle)

LT RYAN CLADY(Denver)

LG VINCE MANUWAI(Jacksonville)

C JASON BROWN(St Louis)

RG BRIAN WATERS(Kansas City)

RT VERNON CAREY(Miami)

DE OSI UMENYIORA(NYG)

DT HALOTI NGATA(Baltimore)

DT ALBERT HAYNESWORTH(Washington)

DE AARON KAMPMAN(Green Bay)

OLB KEITH RIVERS(Cincinatti)1

MLB JON BEASON(Carolina)

OLB LANCE BRIGGS(Chicago)

CB NNAMDI ASOMOGHUA(Oakland)

FS MICHAEL GRIFFEN(Tennessee)

SS ADRIAN WILSON(Arizona)

CB DARRELLE REVIS(NYJ)

K NICK FOLK(Dallas)

P BRIAN MOORMAN(Buffalo)

KR JOSHUA CRIBBS(Cleveland)

PR REGGIE BUSH(New Orleans)

LS ANDREW ECONOMOS(Tampa Bay)

OC JIMMY RAYE(San Francisco)

DC JIM JOHNSTON(Philadelphia)

HC BILL BEILICHICK(New England)

GM BILL POLIAN(Indianapolis)

OWNER DAN ROONEY(Pittsburgh)

Basically how I see this team is the offense will have a very powerful running game with the very real threat of being extremely explosive passing wise with both Johnsons out wide with TJ in the slot. Defensively the front 4 should dominate in the run game and the back 7 is extremely fast and athletic. Both Reggie Bush and Joshua Cribbs can also help out in the passing game as well as in return specialists. The higher structures in this team would make it unstoppable.

Basic spelling should be a requirement for both.

Psh. Our society places more emphasis on the latest hip-hop album than they do on how to spell difficult words like "capillary" and "cystic fibrosis". Kids these days can't even spell "uniform" or "assault". Just basic vocabulary, man, and people wonder how come we lag behind countries like China and Japan when it comes to math and science. We haven't even mastered our native language much less how to find the hypotenuse of a triangle.

Not all too sure why a couple of you have chosen Bob Bratkowski. Mike Zimmer (DC) is the better of our coordinators. Bratkowski did his job fine for a number of years, capitalizing with pro bowl talent, but he really is not all too smart, strategic, and his playbook isn't elite. The offense suffered a year ago because Bratkowski's playbook relied on a pro bowl QB and a tremendous line.

Not perfect, but not too bad.

McGee was a consistently great return man, and he'd still be damn good, but right now it is all McKelvin, and rightfully so.

I'm not surprised to see every Buffalo pick so far has been on special teams. At least it's at a variety of positions. Arming Bobby April with that kind of talent is just not fair.

It's more strategic for the way we're doing this. It's tough to put a Brown anywhere else on the roster considering the infinite possibilities so once you start running out of teams, Bratkowski turns into a not so bad option considering the talent you have on these teams.

LT Joe Thomas (Browns)

RT Jake Long (Dolphins)

This is an extremely young yet (mostly) proven offense which should be around for a while and improve over time. It should be one of the most balanced units in the league with the best RB in the league running the football and some of the best targets in the league catching the ball from arguably the youngest franchise QB in the NFL, who should only continue to improve with all the talent around him on this offense. I think this would be quite a fun unit to watch.

RE Haloti Ngata (Ravens)
NT B.J. Raji (Packers)
LE Tyson Jackson (Chiefs)
SOLB Mathias Kiwanuka (Giants)
SILB David Harris (Jets)
WILB Patrick Willis (49ers)
WOLB DeMarcus Ware (Cowboys)
CB Nnamdi Asomugha (Raiders)
FS OJ Atogwe (Rams)
SS Adrian Wilson (Cardinals)
CB Marcus Trufant (Seahawks)

I went with a 3-4 since no one else was doing it, also because of who I'm picking as my head coach. Youth and versatility are large themes here, with Ngata and Raji both being capable of getting after the QB as well as being walls against the run, Ware and Kiwi being a pretty scary pass rushing combo for just about any QB, Willis being the leader/Mr. Everything and Harris the run thumper in the middle. In the secondary, Adrian Wilson would likely play a role similar to that of Troy Polamalu, Asomugha would shut out just about any team's #1 WR, Trufant would hold his own against #2 WRs, and Atogwe would be an excellent last line of defense.

K Shayne Graham (Bengals)
P Brian Moorman (Bills)
KR Chris Johnson (Titans)
PR Reggie Bush (Saints)
LS Ethan Albright (Redskins)

Lots of athleticism and ability on special teams. Moorman is probably the most athletic punter in the league, and would probably get the team a first down or two on punt fakes, Chris Johnson would not only be an excellent KR with his blazing speed, but would also team with AD to form the most electrifying backfield tandem the NFL has ever seen, and Reggie Bush adds to that dynamic as not only one of the best PRs in the league, but also as a RB/WR weapon that would give the offense much more flexibility. Add in one of the best kickers in the league and the ever infamous Red Beard (http://loot-ninja.com/2007/08/23/a-letter-to-john-madden-from-washington-redskins-long-snapper-ethan-albright/) (you mess with Ethan Albright, you call down the thunder :D), and you've got a pretty solid ST unit.

OC Josh McDaniels (Broncos)
DC Jim Johnson (Eagles)
HC Bill Belichick (Patriots)
GM Bill Polian (Colts)
Owner Dan Rooney (Steelers)

I wanted an owner who I knew would do things the right way, and considering who my head coach is, would make sure things are done the right way, and when you think football owners, one of the first 2 or 3 names that comes to mind will be Rooney, they definitely know how to run an organization and do it the right way. Next, I wanted a great drafter, so I picked the best drafter in the NFL today in Bill Polian, who rarely if ever misses on a first round selection, frequently find late round and UDFA gems, and also happens to be a guru of offensive talent evaluation. To counterbalance the offensive bias of my GM, I pick Bill Belichick as my head coach, who is arguably the best defensive talent evaluator in the league, and has the added bonuses of a proven track record of putting together great defenses and developing young QBs with his offensive system by building their confidence up then giving them more and more responsibility. To run that system, I bring in Josh McDaniels as my OC, who has a proven track record of making Belichick's offensive system work and helping to develop young QBs. Finally, I add Jim Johnson as my DC simply because I think putting the minds of Bill Belichick and Jim Johnson together might possibly create the best defensive scheme we've ever seen, it would certainly be interesting to see what those two could come up with, and fun to watch.

EDIT: For fun and to fill out a roster, I decided to make a backup team following these rules: 1) Any player that started the 2008 season as the starter on his team's depth chart can't be picked 2) Any player that started 8+ games during the 2008 season can't be picked 3) Any player from the 2009 draft class can't be picked 4) One player from each of the 32 teams must be selected. If you'd like to do the same, feel free.

Just gives my DL more versatility with apparently 2 NT/DE types, both extremely young and both with the potential to be among the best in the league. I really think that defense would be extremely fun to watch with those two minds working together with that much talent. I'd be interested to see what Belichick and Johnson could come up with, especially with all that talent to work with.

Near Unstoppable Offense, with a great O-line, a top 5 QB, and the scariest trio of WRs ever assembled on one team. Zone-blitz defense, using a scary 4 man rush of Henderson (who finally is playing alongside some help), Haynesworth (hopefully he plays through his contract), and IMO the top 2 DE is in the NFL as of right now, Tuck and Williams. DeMarcus Ware, used similarly to that of Mathias Kiwanuka as a SAM in Spaguolo's scheme, make for even more pass rush. Patrick Willis shuts down the run up the middle, and Lance Briggs at WLB, is the cover LB, to cover the likes of speedy RBs like Westbrook and such. Charles Woodson and Asomoghua is a great duo, and so is Reed and Polamalu, the two best at their respective safety positions. The ST is not amazing, but Chris Johnson and Ted Ginn are burners... The Coaching staff, has two minds who think exactly alike on defense, Spags and Johnson, Johnson was once Spags mentor back in Philly, as for Jagodzinski he turned BC into a pretty respectable team, and he'll get a chance as an OC.

Pass happy offense with a smash mouth defense.

You picked two people from Jacksonville and none from Detroit.

On a seperate but related topic since I've seen a few people do this, why would anyone pick Wayne Weaver as their owner? Weaver is one of the 5 worst owners in the league and he would likely run your team into the ground. I think some people are underestimating the impact of those FO positions.

I'm not in love with my SS even though he had 7 picks last season. But I don't see a significant upgrade at any of the other 21 starting positions, so it seemed time to settle down.

Alternative would be Polamalu, Merriman, Kellen Winslow Jr., and Green Bay's long snapper. Problem with that obviously being whether I can trust Green Bay's boy in the clutch.

yea and upgrading the CB spot is more important that improving the return game, but its not a total downgrade with Clifton Smith.

In the secondary, Adrian Wilson would likely play a role similar to that of Troy Polamalu, Asomugha would shut out just about any team's #1 WR, Bartell would hold his own against #2 WRs, and Landry would be an excellent last line of defense.

KR Chris Johnson (Titans)
PR Reggie Bush (Saints)
LS Bryan Pittman (Seahawks)

Lots of athleticism and ability on special teams. Moorman is probably the most athletic punter in the league, and would probably get the team a first down or two on punt fakes, Chris Johnson would not only be an excellent KR with his blazing speed, but would also team with AD to form the most electrifying backfield tandem the NFL has ever seen, and Reggie Bush adds to that dynamic as not only one of the best PRs in the league, but also as a RB/WR weapon that would give the offense much more flexibility. Add in one of the best kickers in the league and a solid LS, and you've got a pretty solid ST unit.

Decided to make three changes to my team (all bolded). Changed to Bartell at CB, Landry at FS, and Pittman at LS. Much as I wanted to keep Red Beard, Landry and Bartell IMO make my team MUCH better. I still left the original post as is, because, as stated, you mess with Ethan Albright, you call down the thunder.
