almost everyone has the facebook app. That is if you have 1. I don't always play or use any of my apps so in a away, I just wasted my money, but the FML app is a one that i recommend. It's free too. Also, does anyone know anything about the Madden App? thats going to be freakin amazing.

I haven't used it much, but if you want a browser for pictures, get Cooliris, also hopstop is pretty good if you need train directions in the city. Tap tap is pretty addicative, and fallingballs is too. I would also recommend trying the baseball lite demo

Sudoku, Knots and Tap Defense for games. I agree with Damix, tap defense is a sweet game.

This is picture of a similar phone that I have and it has no internet connection, you get to play 3 sets of bowling before you have to pay for the game, has no apps, no touch screen, no gps, it cost me probably 90% less than the iPhone, and it does what a phone is supposed to do which is send and receive calls. Works for me.

The phone has changed the way I look at a phone, before I had it for functionality, just making calls. Now its text messages with a soon to be qwerty keyboard, check the baseball scores, keep up on forums and blogs of interest, play sudoku on the train without having to buy the newspaper, play a mini baseball arcade game, play monopoly with friends, take crappy-ish quality photos so I don't have to buy a camera, find a map of the area I'm in (helped me so much in Philly). Never going to go back to another phone, I think the 3Gs will be kick ass with the video recorder and the much much needed battery improvement. And hey, going from 1st gen with WGS internet service to 3G will be fun. Paying the extra $15 a month for the sevice...eh not so much

I just got the 3GS today. They didn't have it in black, which is what I wanted, so they gave me a free protection plan and case which kicked ass. 96 bucks saved.

Went to AT&T last Friday and they didn't have it in stock. They might call me today if it arrives. If so... 3GS, here I come! I have the old 1st gen and it's ok. I've unlocked it, so I only pay my monthly $5.99 T-Zones fee on top of my regular T-Mobile bill and get internet that way.

Looking forward to fast browsing, but not the extra $$$.

I bought one from Otter Box. It provides awesome protection, tough look (I hate femmy looking phones), and good soft rubbery grip. It also comes with a holder that you can clip to your belt (I don't do that though), but the good thing is if you're watching something it holds up the phone at different angles and props it up for you.

I wouldn't pay for unlimited text. There's an app out there (textPlus) that lets you text for free! I bought the 200 text plan for $5 a month, but I'm cancelling that bad boy now.

I love it. I got it at half off though. Regular price is like $49.99. Some people complain that it makes the phone bulky, but I've been ok with it so far. The guy at the store said, you could drop it 4 stories high and still return the phone with warranty because even if the insides are broke, the outside doesn't look it. So the manufacturer's warranty will work.

Dude, you can talk to it and it works. You can turn on Voice Recognition with a push of 1 button, and tell it to call a person in your contacts, you can call out a number or even tell it to play a song you have stored. The thing is crazy.

backgrounder and bluff my call are the two apps which make jailbreaking worth it. Being able to background pandora is way to convient. Not to mention with the siphon app and google voice app you can get free voip calls.

Just really hate on AT&T, make sure they have in some way screwed you over, and then joke with whoever you are calling and constantly thank them for their help. Of course this is only if you don't reach a huge d bag when you call which almost always happens.

It's not like you need the buttons. Texting takes awhile to get used to, but having no buttons isn't a problem at all anymore.

Only problem I've had so far is with my DirectTV NFL Ticket superfan app. I type in the username and password online and it works, but when I type it in my iphone I get an error for bad username/pw combo. I called DirectTV yesterday and they said it's a known issue and they'll get back to me today. Better be in time for MNF. I wanna see how it works on my iphone!!!

Ok, I'm new to the iPhone world recently :D Now I was in the market for the black 3GS obviously since I was due for an upgrade, but I wanted the refurb 16Gig just because I didn't want to pay that much extra when a refurb is the same crap(that, and I bought the otterbox defender case so I'm hardly worried about damage)...Anyway I called all around, refurbs were sold out all over, internet and in my entire area, that's what you get for waiting after xmas.


Still, I got a 16Gig black 3G and it's a 30 day warranty so if I find one I can just turn that in and pay the difference, my question is, is there REALLY a huge difference between the two?


Now they did the update on iTunes so you can do MMS messaging which was my only concern, no camcorder which I can live with, I heard the internet is faster but it's not so slow it's noticeable, a few things I was thinking the 3GS had was flash? I can't access any sites that use flash with mine, also do the 3GS have slots for memory cards? I have a crapload of pics and videos I haven't transferred over yet.


That's all I can think of, heavy iPhone users, or guys who have had both I'd appreciate it if you can tell me if it's really worth the extra 100-150$ for the 3GS, coming from a blackberry I like the 3G, the apps are fun as hell, only thing I hate is like I said no memory card slot, and maybe it's the connection speed but sites like youtube are choppy as hell and not as clear as they should be.


I'm not going to upgrade if there are only a few things here and there, I'd rather save the money on something else, unless someone can convince me otherwise.


It is pretty bad how you can get espn radio, nba ticket and the nfl ticket and just watch the games, I definately plan on subscribing next year, but since I can do all those with the one I have, not sensing the urgency.

Speaking of this, I heard about this prior, so I went and bought this glare shield and they said they could install it for 7$, I said 'yea right what a rip off' and proceeded to do it myself, I didn't know that **** could be so complicated. Long story short the glare shield itself has bubbles and watermarks under it, as well as the shield to the defender still sticking, guessing I didn't buy the right one but either way I'm about to throw that crap away.

why do you need a memory slot? there's a usb cord. use the computer to transfer stuff.

Yea that's what I used to do, but I have had this phone so long I lost the usb attachment and little video set up it had to it so long ago that I'd just have to buy a new one I guess which isn't a huge hassle, just was trying to avoid it if possible.


I also heard lots of good things with the droid also, too bad I didn't shop around other carriers. Did you notice a big difference in stuff like youtube quality? Mine is pretty ******, but if I use the wifi in my school to view it's crystal clear. Can you also visit flash sites?

I think im just gonna go ahead and upgrade to the 4G from the 3G. I really want to be able to record videos and send them, as well as have a camera on the front of my phone. They don't have iphone 4G,..yet. Its just 4 thats how they get most of you. If it was 4G you wouldn't need wifi to skype.

Verizon one isn't 4G LTE, so you are better off getting the Motorola Bionic for verizon. Though I like the Droid phones better so thats just me.

Major bump, but I figure this fits the best here and will draw the right attention. Here's my situation.

I know absolutely dick about iPhones and Apple products in general. If we're talking Android, I can do that without a problem and have pretty firm roots(lolpunlol) in that type of stuff since I've been following it since the start. Unfortunately, my mother does not share the same viewpoint.

I've been tasked with unlocking an old iPhone 3G(not S) for her to use on T-Mobile. From what I've read, this is supposed to be pretty simple. The jailbreaking went easy enough, did that via redsn0w. Cydia seems easy enough...it's just the carrier unlocking I'm having a bit of an issue with. I've got a valid T-Mobile sim card inserted in it and have run ultrasn0w a few times to no avail. The baseband I have currently is supposedly compatible(05.15.04), but it's still not working. I get either "waiting for activation, this may take some time", "invalid sim", or just plain old no service.

So basically, here's my problem a little more succinctly;

Trying to make iPhone 3G on 4.2.1 firmware with 05.15.04 baseband work with T-Mobile. Jailbreaking went fine, carrier unlocking isn't going quite as well.

I'm sure it's an easy fix and I'm just missing something, but I'm having a real hard time finding proper, current documentation on all of this. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

Also at&t has bought out T-Mobile and the transaction will complete in like 8 months. Welcome your mom to at&t.

Thanks for the google, but I had already sorted through that already and hadn't found anything. I ended up having to change the baseband, which wasn't ideal...but worked.

Ahh what? I've been looking at phones over the last week or so and Australia has basically every decent phone on the market today. galaxy II, sensation, desire s, incredible s, xperia arc, optimus 2x.

Although i'm looking at getting one of these outright so i'm not certain of what carriers have what i'm fairly certain they're all available on plans.

I got a 4 a few weeks ago. Thought about waiting a few weeks to see what kind of new Iphone would be released. I don't really regret my decision. I'm happy with the cameras, and I don't see a need right now for that voice recog program. I'm definitely happy with the phone, even though I have to charge it every other night.

Right now, I'm working with a standard, almost prehistoric phone by today's standards but I really might have to go to Verizon tomorrow and switch my order to the white one. Thoughts? Someone ask Siri for me if they already have a 4S.

I have a 16 gig 4 enough room for me I'm always changing and music on my iphone though so I never get it full enough and unload all my pictures off my phone. The 4S does look sexy though maybe I'll get lucky and find me a 4S like I found my 4 lol

Another big one battery life, my iphone will last at least 8-10 hours easily with constant texting and ipod usage.
You can easily find a dock for an iphone for speaking player if you want.
