View Full Version : What time of the year do you really start craving the next NFL season?

For me it's right now, as the NHL and NBA season are ending and training camp is about six weeks away. In just another week or two, the last mini camps will wrap up, teams will go on vacation and all NFL off-season news will come to a halt (except perhaps Brett Favre news which can never possibly end). That's when I will go into full jonesing mode until the week before training camp when rookie contract activity goes into full swing and another glorious NFL season begins.

The only time I don't mind there not being Football is between the Superbowl and the draft. Every other time, I want ******* Football!

24/7 365. it never ends

24/7 365. it never ends

Agreed, but when I really start wanting the season to start is right around this time, so I agree CK.

I feel like I work at the Daily Planet as a photographer...lol.

Usually about 5 games into the current season :(

OK, not really. I'm not that guy. Once the main wave of free agency in the NHL is through, my focus is all towards football. Training camps are about to open up, I might start getting fantasy leagues in order, and I can just feel the excitement come inside me and pin me down with its strong arms.

Starting at the beginning of summer is the worst. So close to fantasy football, yet so far away

Now...I want some fantasy football!!!

I probably crave it once the summer hits, FF stuff starts heating up, etc.

06-15-2009, 12:02 AM
I'm a huge Baseball fan and a pretty big Hockey fan so I stay entertained when it's not football season. But I start craving it around this time.

06-15-2009, 12:33 AM
As soon as my favorite team is eliminated are start wishing for the next season.

I hate not having football, i don't really watch any other sport religiously like football.

06-15-2009, 12:48 AM
Right after the draft I REALLY start too.

06-15-2009, 01:24 AM
I think we could all classify the year into four seasons.
1- Regular Season
2- Post Season
3- Draft Season
4- Off Season

Right after the draft is over and all the draft analysis is over than the itch for football really gets going.

06-15-2009, 01:24 AM
I want football all day every day. Especially when I watch Total Access.

06-15-2009, 01:27 AM
Late August. Which is perfect.

Every Sunday I start craving it around 1pm. Sundays are always a disappointment in the off season :(

yea id have to agree i want it at all times. The Draft is awesome, but the time before the draft and the superbowl shouldnt be that short and football should start right after that! I wish tehre was still NFLE

06-15-2009, 05:17 AM
Late August. Which is perfect.

This is what i was about to say. During late July to mid August is when i really start wanting to watch football. Pre-Season games just don't do it for me.

06-15-2009, 06:01 AM
when the summer hits and everything football-related comes to a grinding halt, it begins.

Late in the preseason. I mean, I get slowly amped during training camp and FF, but when I know that the real deal is around the corner is when I get pumped.

06-15-2009, 09:50 AM
after the draft

06-15-2009, 11:31 AM
For me it's about a month after the draft. There's no real news outside of a few cuts that aren't earth shattering. I watch other sports like MMA, basketball, and boxing, but they don't do it for me like football. I get impatient waiting for the season sometimes.

06-15-2009, 11:42 AM
I don't mind it not being around because the Phils are in full swing but around Mid-August when Madden comes out is when I really want the season to be here.

06-15-2009, 11:57 AM
Good God, I need the Knicks to stop sucking. Ever since the Knicks have been a complete joke, I've been hurting all offseason. Before it wasn't bad, I had the Knicks deep into the playoffs, but the past 9 years its the Giants, then nothing.

It used to be right around now, after the NBA finals Id miss football. But nowadays its usually right after the draft.

I tried giving baseball a shot, but its just not for me. So I have 2 sports, 3 if you count soccer but I don't follow soccer enough for it to tame my football cravings.

Go Gunners! Had to throw that in :p

06-15-2009, 12:55 PM
Football is the only sport i watch. I've grown tired of Baseball and Basketball lately, and never been a big fan of Hockey or Soccer or any other sport. The draft can tide me over from feb-april, but right after the draft i start craving some football. So I'm basically ready for the season to begin right now.

06-15-2009, 01:34 PM
It sounds weird, but the Tour de France gives me a little relief, as I really enjoy watching the Tour, and for those three weekss or so, it isn't as bad for me.

06-15-2009, 02:13 PM
Always. It never stops. I'm a complete ***** for the NFL. I'd probably suck feet for quarters. I mean.. do anything for just one exhibition game...

I'm the exact same way. I want football all year round, thats why I miss NFL Europa. They had their season in March and April and it was ok to wait til august til the next season. I bleed purple and gold.

Yes craving begins right after hockey season. So right now.

NFL Game Rewind helps, I re-watched all the Lions games really focusing on problem areas(many of them) before the draft and then when I get the itch I'll watch a random good game(commercial free) from last year that I didn't watch during the season to catch up on other teams. Not bad for 20 buck subscription. Plus I'll check out the new competition like Culter or new players like Julian Peterson,Henry,Buchanon,Eric King,Grady Jackson playing against the other North rivals. But nothing beats September-January.

06-15-2009, 03:24 PM
It hits me three times. Once after the draft, once right after my FF draft and once when training camp starts.

06-16-2009, 12:15 AM
Start Craving I guess is now. Start anticipating the next season is the day the Vikings go out, with a break for the Superbowl.

06-16-2009, 12:39 AM
Whenever the only thing they can talk about is a possible Brett Favre comeback.

06-16-2009, 09:10 AM
Right after the draft

06-16-2009, 09:58 AM
Right after the super bowl ends

06-16-2009, 10:08 AM
It hits me three times. Once after the draft, once right after my FF draft and once when training camp starts.

Ah, I forgot about that. Once I get all my draft done I start getting the shakes.

06-16-2009, 10:38 AM
10 min after the SB

06-21-2009, 09:49 PM
It varies, I am a huge baseball fan obviously, but occasionally I hear Dick Stockton's voice on television either announcing baseball, basketball, or football games on he NFLN, and I am kinda starting. His voice just kinda strikes me as a football voice.

06-21-2009, 10:12 PM
about six weeks before the draft.

06-22-2009, 02:25 AM
I would have to say the middle of July. By that point baseball has been the only thing going on for quite some time and the regular season is only a tantalizing two months away.........which takes forever.

06-22-2009, 02:55 AM
Every second of every minute of every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year now until eternity...

06-22-2009, 04:02 AM
The best thing about Australia is that I get to watch my 2nd favourite sport in the offseason. Aussie Rules might not be NFL but it is still a great sport.

That said, I want football, really starting to miss it and my 3rd sport in the NBA.

06-22-2009, 04:46 PM
after the NBA finals for me... there is something about the end of the end of the nba season than the other parts of it. But i wish nfl would be all around! but i guess with all the brett favre, michael vick drama.. it kinda is

06-22-2009, 04:48 PM
After the Super Bowl and really after the NHL Playoffs. I then get stuck watching the Pirates **** up the place.

06-22-2009, 06:03 PM
Usually during the open house I attend at Paul Brown Stadium every year in May/June. Get to see the team practice and the rookie class for the first time so that usually gets me going.

06-22-2009, 11:58 PM
My cravings are starting as we speak. I am watching the 2001 SB and it gave me th'e itch. They need to make a methadone for football junkies.
