1. OAKLAND RAIDERS- JaMarcus Russell QB LSU
Ultimately you have to begin with a QB to rebuild one of the worst offenses in recent memory. Joe Thomas could be considered, but they are hesitant because of their terrible luck with Robert Gallery.

2. DETROIT LIONS- Joe Thomas OT Wisconsin
If Jon Kitna's really their guy then they have to give him some protection.

3. CLEVELAND BROWNS- LaRon Landry S LSU

This may be considered so, but this is not at all a reach. The Safety position truly has evolved into a must-have in the NFL. Landry is the best defensive player in this draft, and he had a tremendous combine to prove wrong any doubters. Romeo Crennel had his man in New England in Rodney Harrison while winning championships, and now he gets a stud playmaker that will be a fixture for a decade.

4. TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS- Calvin Johnson WR Georgia Tech
The best player in the draft at number 4? This pick takes 30 seconds to hand in the envelope and Jon Gruden is drooling over the thought of building his passing game around the best receiver prospect in years.

5. ARIZONA CARDINALS- Gaines Adams DE Clemson
They would love to trade up for Joe Thomas or trade down for Levi Brown, but they also are in dire need of an impact pass rusher, and I'm not predicting trades.

6. WASHINGTON REDSKINS- Alan Branch DT Michigan
A big man in the middle to stabilize a defense that vastly underperformed in relation to the money spent.

7. MINNESOTA VIKINGS- Brady Quinn QB Notre Dame
Tavaris Jackson was a second-rounder last year but he's no sure thing, and Quinn at number 7 is too good to pass up.

8. HOUSTON TEXANS- Levi Brown OT Penn State
Throughout their existence they have never found a stud Tackle and it's time they gave Carr (or someone else) some protection. Look for Quinn as another possibility here if he slips this far.

9. MIAMI DOLPHINS- Amobi Okoye DT Louisville

After solidifying their pass-rush with Joey Porter opposite Jason Taylor, they look for an interior lineman to balance it out. Offensive Line is also a possibility, and although they have high hopes for Jason Allen, don't rule out DB, depending on where they decide to play him.

10. ATLANTA FALCONS- Jamaal Anderson DE Arkansas
Patrick Kerney's replacement, but DB (Landry, Hall) or WR are also possibilities.

11. SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS- Patrick Willis LB Ole Miss

It's obvious that Mike Nolan will do almost anything to land defensive playmakers since he was hired, and Willis could be a major part of a very good defense in a few seasons.

12. BUFFALO BILLS- Adrian Peterson RB Oklahoma

How on earth could he fall this far? Aaron Rodgers-style, that is. Despite some durability concerns, there is no reason he should be available here, but each team before has more pressing needs. With McGahee gone to Baltimore, Buffalo is filling its biggest need, although CB is also an option here.

13. ST. LOUIS RAMS- Lawrence Timmons LB Florida State

It is no secret that their defense is not good, and after taking Tye Hill last year, they fill another LB spot to build their defense around. They would love Okoye if he was here though.

14. CAROLINA PANTHERS- Justin Blalock OL Texas

If Brady Quinn slips this far (think Aaron Rodgers), there will be no debate with this pick. But that is a longshot, so they turn to upgrade their Offensive Line. Blalock is a versatile player who could line up at Guard or Right Tackle, and it will be interesting to see how he is utilized. Don't rule out Safety or Linebacker either.

15. PITTSBURGH STEELERS- Adam Carriker DL Nebraska
With the switch to the 4-3 under Tomlin, Carriker can play Tackle, but can also be a force at 3-4 end if they ever show their old looks from that system.

16. GREEN BAY PACKERS- Marshawn Lynch RB Cal
A no-brainer after Ahman Green's inevitable departure, and relieves some pressure off of Brett Favre and an offense on the rise.

17. JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS- Reggie Nelson S Florida
Donovan Darius is nearing the end of his career and Deon Grant is gone, and the Jags could use another playmaker on defense. WR and LB are also possibilities here.

18. CINCINNATI BENGALS- Leon Hall CB Michigan
Tory James and Deltha O'Neal both had terrible years, and Hall's addition would make a tremendous young 1-2 punch with Jonathan Joseph, last year's 1st round pick.

19. TENNESSEE TITANS- Ted Ginn, Jr. WR/KR Ohio State
Drew Bennett is gone, David Givens was hurt most of the season, and Vince Young can't do it all to his legs. Ginn's world-class speed is nothing to take lightly, and Pacman Jones' future as a Kick Returner and a Titan is certainly no sure thing. If Marshawn Lynch is still available, he may get a strong look as well after Travis Henry's release.

20. NEW YORK GIANTS- Jon Beason LB The U
Marshawn Lynch would be slotted here if still available, but after getting rid of both starting OLB, this one seems like a no-brainer, but don't rule out Offensive Line or Safety.

21. DENVER BRONCOS- Jarvis Moss DE Florida
A pass rusher is the answer here after solidifying RB (Travis Henry) and the empty starting CB slot (Dre' Bly), although OL is never out of the question.

22. DALLAS COWBOYS- Chris Houston CB Arkansas
Anthony Henry may move to Free Safety and they could use a playmaking coverman to complement Roy Williams' in-the-box style.

23. KANSAS CITY CHIEFS- Dwayne Jarrett WR USC
Justin Blalock is the pick if he is available, but they have been searching for a number 1 receiver for years.

24. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (f/SEA)- Brandon Meriweather S The U
Now that OLB has been filled with the versatile playmaker Adalius Thomas, I am convinced that the Pats are looking for a playmaking inside 'backer as a complement and as a trainee. They would love Willis or Beason to learn from Tedy Bruschi, but since both are taken, they opt for a DB due to the lack of value remaining at the LB position. Meriweather is a tremendous athlete that is a 1st-rounder if he can sort out both on and off-the-field issues. Rodney Harrison's replacement will also provide some much-needed depth in the secondary. Never leave out WR or Greg Olsen here either.

25. NEW YORK JETS- Greg Olsen TE The U
Eric Mangini has put the offense together brilliantly by adding Thomas Jones, and Olsen is the final piece that, depending on the kind of Quarterback play they get from Pennington, could potentially be very threatening.

26. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES- Michael Griffin S Texas
Sean Considine is not a starter, and Griffin gets a chance to learn from one of the best of this generation in Brian Dawkins. This pick is a no-brainer.

27. NEW ORLEANS SAINTS- Darrelle Revis CB Pittsburgh
Their offense is set, and their secondary could use some young playmakers. Good value with Revis here too.

28. NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS- Dwayne Bowe WR LSU

I honestly don't know whether they like Meachem or Bowe or even Rice better, but a number 1 receiver is a need, depending on what happens with Donte' Stallworth and/or Randy Moss. The Pats could go in any direction with this or the 24th pick, including trading up or down.

29. BALTIMORE RAVENS- Arron Sears OL Tennessee
The Ravens are the one team where I had trouble finding a truly needy position, but with Johnathan Odgen approaching the end of his career, and with the release of Edwin Mulitalo, Sears is a versatile lineman that could play Guard or Tackle.

30. SAN DIEGO CHARGERS- Robert Meachem WR Tennesee
They are lacking a true number 1 receiver, and Bowe or Sidney Rice could also go here.

31. CHICAGO BEARS- Quinn Pitcock DT Ohio State

Tank Johnson's future is uncertain, and although his stock may have fallen, Pitcock may be the type of player that, like at Ohio State, if he is surrounded by a lot of talent, could perform better than his own talent suggests. That would be the case in Chicago.

32. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS- Buster Davis LB Florida State

Davis has the quickness to play Outside as well as Inside, and although he is vastly undersized, he is the type of player that the Champs have seemed to find a role for in their defense. OLB is a need with Cato June being an unrestricted free agent, and Rob Morris is not a legitimite starter.

agreed.

TERRIBLE. Jones and Pool and we may resign Russell and there have been rumors of Doss. Safety is the least of our worries.

We need OLB, then CB, then Offensive Line, then RB.

That pick is atrocious. Quinn Pitcock does not fit the Bears need at all. He doesn't have the speed, burst or explosiveness we look for in defensive lineman.
