What a complete waste of time that was. Is this going to be like Shonn Greene where you make a new and pointless thread every week?

I'm not trying to hate but there was no point to that. It was just a generic article. It did not really provide any insight towards the draft or anything like that.

I don't know if you've noticed, but this isn't an Iowa football board. Nobody comes here to masturbate to pictures of your team. That isn't even an article, I have absolutely no idea what the point was. Take your spam elsewhere.

Also, I get it, you beat the **** out of my lousy team last year. Great job. You also haven't won a Rose Bowl since 1959 so stop acting like Iowa is worth a damn.

He's a top 10 prospect for next year.

How isn't that draft relevant?

Anything not included video or specific specifications is worthless now?

Bulaga is considered by many to be the top left tackle in next years draft, not just me.

I have been hyping him for awhile, just like Shonn Greene, Charles Godfrey, and Bradley Fletcher before him :)

I hype up Iowa prospects, never do I predict National Titles or Heisman trophies.

The players I hype up generally are not well known and end up being higher than expected selections in the draft.

For example, Kyle Calloway, and Adrian Clayborn this year.

Don't forget that spider monkey Ferentz recruited out of Zimbabwe. Real quick, great hands and leaping ability, will be awesome out of the slot. A diamond in the rough, way more upside than Randle or Debose, just shows how good Ferentz is at finding guys and coaching them into stars. Spider Monkey for freshman All American.

Yes, it is my sig, but all the credit goes to duckseason for the hilariously awesome quote and for letting me keep it. I do like srv fan's take on it, though.

And at this point in their career, I think Bulaga looks like a better prospect than Gallery. Of course there are going to be comparisons though. Plus, it'll be quite the accomplishment for Bulaga to make a LG look like an All-Pro LT...

I meant like was it during his junior year, before senior year, during senior year, etc.

Because Bulaga started getting a little hype during his soph. year and really blew up (hype wise) this offseason.

So start an Anthony Davis thread. This is Bulaga's thread. Why is it that we can never have a thread about a player without someone having to say, "My Favorite Player is better than this guy"? Stick to the topic.

If he declares, I think Bulaga will be the first OT taken. He has very good all around game, is a very good athlete and he should do great at the combine. I wouldn't be surprised if he had a Joe Thomas-like workout. Not that the combine is that important for O-Lineman but it'll help separate him from the pack. Although I like Davis, Okung and Williams, none of them will look that impressive at the combine. Of those three, I think Davis is probably going to be the best prospect and has the best chance of challenging Bulaga for the top spot.

but I've been doing that forever, when I do it, it's obviously cute and hilarious.

I do like Bulaga as a prospect, but I wanna see him do it this season, see him keep his hype up and not suffer the big hype season let down

That said Anthony Davis is probably my second favorite tackle. Just because both he and Bulaga are maulers. The other guys are finesse guys or technicians. Great in their own right, but I have a preference for the guys that are physical and aggressive.

I like Davis more than Bulaga, but I don't believe Davis will come out this year, so for me it's between Bulaga and Okung for the #1 tackle spot this upcoming draft, and I think in the end whoever has the better season will be the one drafted first, which I believe will be Brian Bulaga. However, Davis is far and away my #1 prospect for the 2011 draft.

how insightful haha

But I like Anthony Davis more than any other tackle prospect (in fact I had him going #3 in my mock). He has great technique and footwork which is extremely impressive considering that he has the frame of a RT. But the reputation that he is a good run blocker isn't founded yet, he has potential because of his size and strength but he doesn't capitalize on it and doesn't push many people off the line, but he does do a good job sealing the edge on outside runs. I really like Davis and he is IMO the kind of LT that you can start from day 1 and not worry about him for 7-8 years.

Bulaga IMO just screams Robert Gallery V.2, from what I can tell with my limited knowledge they're nearly clones. They're tough, gritty, mean, can run block and were sufficient enough in pass protection to make people believe they can succeed in the NFL, the Iowa run heavy offense really helped mask Bulaga's deficiencies in pass protection.

The difference is Bulaga is more athletic than Gallery, and Gallery was measured with pretty short arms for his size at the combine. Meanwhile, I haven't heard anything that has said Bulaga's arms are not of good size.

It may be a miniscule difference, but while playing LT long arms are very important in pass protection against edge rushers. Whereas, a guard doesn't need to worry all too much about edge rushers so there arm lengths are not really important.

Thumper

I think that arm length is overrated, I mean Joe Thomas, Jake Long, Michael Roos and Sam Baker were just a few to have short arms recently and all four have looked very good, in fact two of them are widely considered the best tackles in football.

But then you've got Gallery, Mike Williams and Tony Mandarich who have short arms and don't suceed. So IMO there is no direct correlation between success and arm length.

Then there are guys that are athletic and that have long arms aren't particularly succesful either like Frank Omiyale.

But then you have guys like Ryan Clady, D'Brickshaw Ferguson, Jamaal Brown and Jeff Otah who have long arms and use them.

Arm length and NFL success has no direct correlation IMO, it helps but it isn't a major factor because if you have good technique you can more than make up for shorter arms.

As you said it helps so it does give Bulaga a leg up over Gallery, so be it a small one.

I guess sometimes it just depends on the player himself you just can't predict whose going to be a good player in this league, if you could you'd make millions as a scout.
