******* go time! Just about 4 hours away. It will be on KTVT/CBS 11 at 9pm for everyone in the metroplex. If there's some place to watch it online, post it on here and help out your fellow Cowboy fans.

Bay Area black out as usual. Raiders just don't sell out preseason games at home dammit. I have to watch it on tape delay at midnight or 5 PDT tomorrow.

Sloppy game so far, but a slow start isn't anything new for us at all lol.

Hamlin needs to make that pick, Scandrick pressed great at the line and the over the top help needs to come and make that turnover and we get the ball back.

I've been keeping my eye on Scandrick on D mostly, he plays like a veteran, fun to watch.

A Roll out play??? Thank God! I hope that's in the playbook quite a bit this year, I rarely saw that last year and I think Romo works best with those.

08-13-2009, 09:26 PM
Oh snap Roy got one. :D

LonghornsLegend
08-13-2009, 09:34 PM
Saw everything you wanted to see in that drive, funny to see Greg going against Columbo though lol.

Spreading the ball around, that's exactly how it should be. Patty was the slot in 3 WR sets, Austin outside, if we continue to spread it around should keep defenses honest, just find the open man. Felix looks like he's wound up as soon as he gets the handoff and he's ready to take off every time.

Was kinda hoping the penalities would calm down this year.

M.O.T.H.
08-13-2009, 09:38 PM
Tony did hit 4 different receivers on that drive.

Nice blocking by Free and Choice. :/ Free was getting pushed back by a 220 pound undrafted linebacker.

Its gotta suck if you're Sam Hurd or Miles Austin right now, Kitna has no time at all to throw.

M.O.T.H.
08-13-2009, 10:05 PM
terrible Mickens coverage, nice Ball hit.

Aww, come on Miles. After all we heard about you lately.

M.O.T.H.
08-13-2009, 10:11 PM
Sammy Hurd baby!

Miles has gotta hold onto that one, hit him in the belly. He and Hurd were both wide open.

Stole that one from Hurd. ugh.

This team has some glaring lack of depth in the secondary and along both lines.

And so much for all the "holding people accountable for mistakes" propaganda. We've seen more of the same with all the yellow on the field tonight.

M.O.T.H.
08-13-2009, 11:06 PM
I do love me some Lattimore.

Paul
08-13-2009, 11:07 PM
Free looks like he has good footwork and technique, but just doesn't seem strong at the point of attack.

D-Unit
08-13-2009, 11:14 PM
Buehler made that FG.... Barely... we might HAVE TO keep Folk and Buehler if his accuracy is this weak.

M.O.T.H.

What do you mean? Folk's job isnt in jeopardy at all. The plan has been to keep both all along.

Yeah, well a part of me was hoping we didn't have to keep 2 kickers on the roster, but it looks like we have no choice. That's all I'm saying. I know that by keeping both, we lose a spot to someone else... could be Lacodeur. As Stewart has also been practicing his long snapping.

From False Start Flozell to False Start Free???

edit: next play Free gets totally spun. He's officially terrible in my book.

McGee is so far from being ready its laughable. I wonder if we can sneak him on the PS or if we have to waste a roster spot to try and develop him.

Ugh.

Stewart isnt a great long snapper. Ladoucer will be safe. Buehler will do other things instead of just kickoff to try and justify his spot.

Jason Williams with a nice pursuit tackle... only to see Brown get beat again for a long passing gain.

I dunno if he's great or not. I know he hasn't made a career out of it, but he does play more than just LS and I know the coaching staff has asked him to workout as a LS. So that tells me that Ladoucer isn't exactly sitting pretty.

But heck, if this game is any indicator... then there are A LOT of easy cuts ahead.

D-Unit
08-13-2009, 11:40 PM
OK, I'm confused how NFL scouts could scout McGee and label him a draft riser. This guy looks pitiful. He had the protection of the line right ther....

Tight coverage by DeAngelo Smith, but a nice catch against him.

Nice run by the raiders.

Mickens gave up another TD. Didn't even care to cover the guy. Inexcusable.

Goodness guys. Let's get a little perspective here.

Sure, that was ugly, but let's not forget; there were a lot of guys out there that will not be on the 53.

Things I liked:

1. Felix, Felix & Felix. - If he can stay healthy, he is going to have a great season.

2. Tellus - same as felix.

3. Romo - Looked comfortable and if he can spread things around all season like he did, our offense will be just fine.

4. 1st Team OL - after the abortion of the first series, they opened running lanes and protected Romo very well.

Things I didn't like:

1. Depth - No news flash but we can't absorb multiple injuries at a position. If we lose, say one LB or one OL or one DB, we would probably be okay, but if we have to go any deeper, it could get ugly.

2. Free - He didn't look terrible; decent enough feet for LT, but just isn't very powerful.

3. Spencer - Again, didn't look terrible, but I am concerned.

4. Effort - unacceptable that guys trying to win a job don't play hard.

We've seen a lot of ugly preseason games so I'm not going to lose sleep.

M.O.T.H.
08-14-2009, 10:35 AM
It's the first preseason game, you'd have to be crazy to worry now. Our starting offense started off sloppy since they were backed up but, they were outstanding on that 2nd drive. The O-Line was fantastic on that drive as well. No worries there at all. All the TEs looked great. And Sam Hurd was fantastic with his 5 catches 79 yards and two tackles. He only had the one penalty, despite what some of the sources out there said. But that was surprising, he's easily our best blocking receiver. So, it was a bad hold but, not something we would expect to be frequent at all.

As for the 2nd and 3rd units. Outside of Kitna, Hurd, Mike Hamlin, Bowen, the RBs, and Free to an extent. They were just awful. But we have a lot of youth so, you'd expect to see improvement as each week passes by in preseason. They may very well suck but, struggling right now is pretty common for these young guys. Depth looks really, really, really shaky but, we cant use this game as a barometer as to what we actually have there. We'll know soon enough, though. It will be nice to see Hodge and B Williams out there next week. And hopefully Jenkins and Newman can make their returns as well.
