I'm going to this game

I could've went but the starters are only going to play a series and I don't feel like sitting around watching a bunch of guys who aren't even going to make a team. The final 2 games yes, the first 2 game no.

GB12
08-15-2009, 05:07 PM
That doesn't even make sense. Starters play the least in the last game.

Thats why I said yes, I'd go to the final 2 games.

Here we go! First series.

1) Run to the left with Grant. No push at all.

2) Nice curl route to Jones.

3) Packers gain 2 yards on a 3rd and short. Nice to see a short yardage conversion for a change!

4) Nice cut by Grant on a run to the right side. 14 yard gain. Used the 2 TE package there.

5) Shotgun. Rodgers throws high. Lee and Driver in the same area. Incomplete.

6) 2nd and 10. Rodgers throws just a little wide of Jennings. Incomplete.

7) Packers using alot of shotgun. Rodgers deep for Driver for a 53 yard TD!!

Kickoff. Cribbs on the return. The 1st guy to hit him couldn't take him down but the Packers swarm and take him down.

Brady Quinn gets the start for the Browns and will face the Packers #3 and #4 CBs with both Harris and Woodson out.

Here we go with the 34 defense! Jamal Lewis to the left side. Chllar with the stop on a 4 yard gain.

Run up the middle with Lewis. Montgomery on the stop. 2 yard gain.

3rd and 4. Packers in the nickel. Bush is the nickleback. Quinn complete. Kampman on coverage. 1st and 10.

One thing I've noticed so far with the 3-4 is the the backside is not containing. They're swarming to the ball instead of staying in their gaps. Cribbs with a huge run on a reverse.

Kampman almost had a sack. Williams almost had a INT.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 07:20 PM
3rd and 7. Mike Furrey again with a 3rd down conversion. His 2nd of the drive.

cvv84

Run defense looking good but we're getting knocked around in pass coverage so far.

Run defense looks fantastic so far. Pass defense, ehhhhh. I love seeing Kampman passrush off the edge but when he drops into coverage I get a tad scared.

Holding call on the Browns during their FG attempt. Moved them back to now a 41 yard try and its wide right! 7-0 Packers.

Quinn has looked sharp but its against our nickle and dime CBS right now.

I agree Quinn looks sharp.
Anyone else really impressed with our DLine so far? They looked really good throughout that drive.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 07:29 PM
You can just tell that when the ball is in Finley's hands there's big play potential.

Running game looks improved as well. Packers look like they ran a "big" package there. WRs were Martin, Jones, and Nelson.

Our offense looks really sharp!!!!

A ton of weapons. Lets hope they find their combination for the Oline so they can get some work together for a game or 2 before the season.

Moll at LT. Lang at LG. Flynn at QB. Finley at TE.

So far Flynn has been playing very safe. Throwing to the check downs and RBs. He's got some mobility though.

lol he just caught his own pass and ran it for 6 yards!

cvv84
08-15-2009, 07:50 PM
Wells still at center. Sitton at RG.

Brandon Jackson with a nice run. Looks shifty and finished with some good power.

They're really moving Finley around. He's in motion alot.

Great pass to Nelson by Finley but its called back. Sitton was up field.

GB12
08-15-2009, 07:53 PM
Sitton at RB.

I'd like to see that.

Mr.Regular

Weak call against Sitton there. Took away an awesome play by Flynn/Jordyzzzzzzzzzzz

Moll just got bullrushed. Almost pushed back into Flynn.

Flynn is just way too indecisive. He'll run around and either scramble or throw to the checkdown. If Rodgers goes down so does this team. I'm hoping Brohm flashes tongiht.

Flynn sacked.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 07:56 PM
Crosby from 60! Just left. Had the distance though.

BS on that holding call.

INT Tramon.

cvv84

Anderson throws up a duck with Desmond Bishop barreling down on him. Trammon Williams with the INT.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 08:03 PM
Wynn is running hard. Showing nimble feet and getting upfield. Quinn Johnson is the FB too.

Another penalty, false start. Thats #5....

cvv84
08-15-2009, 08:06 PM
Flynn finally throws downfield hitting Jones for the 1st down.

Brandon Jackson going nowhere.

Wynn is in on 3rd down. Missed his block but Flynn completes it to Jones again. Jones wiggles his way for a 1st down.

Wynn swollowed up on a run up the middle.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 08:07 PM
ANOTHER false start. 6 penalties so far!

Ugh no matter how good we are PENALTIES always kill us

Are we really this good? Or are the Browns this bad?

Our offense looked great. Everyone is getting into the action. Flynn is facing some Browns starters but I think its just that we have a ton of options on offense. They don't really know who to cover.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 08:12 PM
Crosby misses from 55. Granted those are some long FGs but he needs to start showing that rookie form soon. I could see TT pulling something like he did last year when he cut Jon Ryan and replaced him with a guy with a wooden leg.

ChezPower4
08-15-2009, 08:13 PM

Our second team D stopped the Browns first team O :P

GB12
08-15-2009, 08:29 PM
Crosby is 0-2 becuse he's good, not because he's replacment level. Those are long distance shots that wouldn't even be attempted with most kickers and he had more than enough distance in both. It would have been better had he made them, but eventhough he missed he showed we can attempt the long ones when needed.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 08:40 PM
My 1st half impressions:

Offense looks good so far. Rodgers was on point, using all his weapons.

Alot of shotgun. Could be just becuase we're facing a 3-4 team though.

Grant looks much better. Quick cuts and upfield. Same with Wynn. Jackson has been good but he's slashed a bit more than running north/south.

Oline looked solid. Both units really.

Run defense has been outstanding. The Dline has been making stops. Big ups to Montgomery.

Pass rush hasn't hit home yet. A few hurries but thats it. Bishop has been playing pretty well though. He seems built for the 3-4.

Secondary has given up some plays. Granted we aren't running our 1st unit out there though.

Way too many penalties. Obviously this needs to be worked out ASAP.

James Jones has been outstanding so far. Back to his rookie form.

Flynn has been descent. Smart with the ball but nothing reall big down field. Mobility looks great. Made good decisions.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 08:43 PM
Tony Moll gets worked again. Brohm gets hit and throws a duck for an INT. Packers were called for holding on that play but the Browns declined.

cvv84

Bishop is having a hell of a game.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 09:12 PM
Brohm picked off again. He's throwing high which is leaving his WRs exposed and leading to this difficult catch attempts.

Moll just whipped again on this drive. Why he's at LT is beyond me.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 09:28 PM
Packers with over 200 rushing yards tonight. Crosby connects to make it 17-0

cvv84
08-15-2009, 09:36 PM
Peprah with a INT. Bishop is getting pressure constantly.

cvv84
08-15-2009, 09:43 PM
Brohm throws high again. Packers have it 1st and goal and they start the kneel down as the fans boo.

Sutton has been outstanding too. He's been very explosive all night.

Packers win 17-0!!

I didn't see alot of the game but Matt Flynn looks much more composed than last season and he has taken complete control of the #2 spot

Great game. Both the O-line and D-line played great IMO. The D looked very good despite missing half its starters. The only real negative was that Cripps run but that was because Poppy bit on the fake, leaving that side of the field WIDE OPEN....if Clay Matthews was playing I wonder how that play would have gone!

overall, I was happy with the game. #1 Offense is stacked everywhere. All the RB's looked pretty damn good. Lumpkin/Sutton battle will be intense this camp. JAmes Jones was tearing it up out there

DD just doing what he does, great TD catch

Tony Moll's days are numbered. Dude looked awful out there. Same with Brohm. Penalties need to stop. I don't care how good this offense is, can't have those pre-snap brainfart penalties with false starts, etc. Those are drive killers. Gotta improve on that

there are a lot of good things to take from this game. And most importantly, NO major injuries

I would add Jolly to the thumbs up. Dude did great at stuffing the run. Hopefully he doesn't have to deal with a suspension but even if he does, once he's back the D-line will have another big body in the middle. Pickett/Raji/Jolly and hopefully Harrell

PACKmanN
08-16-2009, 06:46 AM
One thing I noticed is we played with a lot of 2 down d-linemen, short of like what the Ravens do with Ngata and Gregg, could we do it with Raji and Pickett?

The entire Dline did outstanding but lets keep in mind that the Browns don't really have a potent rushing attack. Lets see how they fare against the Bills and Titans. I think that'll be more of an indication of our run defense.

Bishop's big day reminded me of when he did this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OtRuoojLF1s

Minute 1:40 - when Desmond Bishop knocked Jermaine Wiggins out of the league.
