The Raiders reached agreement Friday evening with Atlanta 's free-agent fullback Justin Griffith on a three-year, $3.8 million contract, completing a whirlwind day of activity in Oakland. The deal is contingent upon Griffith passing his physical.

Good signing by Oakland. Does this mean that Crockett most likely will be cut?

Knapp bringing in someone he's familiar with.

Nice, we finally have a real FB.

pretty solid deal, cost wise, length wise, and fit wise. They've made some nice moves/gambles, with Dominic Rhodes, Justin Griffith, and Jeremy Newberry. A healthy Newberry would do a lot for them inside.

Nice deal and that seems like a pretty cheap contract

Two thumbs up....the Raiders have made some good personnel moves this year. I think Kiffin was a good choice and most of the assistants are top notch. Bringing in good veterans will help the rebuilding process a lot.

2 good moves in 1 day! Nice job! I'm slowly starting to see that explosive offense Lane was talking about.

Now are they getting Russell or CJ??? Hmmm...

I can dig this move. Crockett was never a great blocker, but he is certainly on the decline in that category these days.

3 year 3.8 mill. Great signing. One of the best so far. heck of a player.

Even as a Chiefs fan if the Raiders cut Zack Crockett I will kinda miss him he has been there along time it will be wired not seeing him twice a year...

I like this move. I think the raiders are doing a good job this offseason. Rid of walker and brooks, add rhodes and griffith. If newberry is healthy thats a steal too, though i doubt it.

Im very happy about this signing. I was hoping all along we'd get him. A FB who is a good lead blocker but also an offensive weapon, major upgrade over Crockett, who I suspect will now get cut unless we want to keep him as a short yardage specialist. With Jordan, Rhodes, Fargas and Griffith I suddenly feel pretty good about our backfield. No one great but a nice group of players and thats worked for other teams. Now if we can just get them some blocking.....

You guys should draft OL in the first 5 rounds. Starting off with Joe Thomas.

This is the first good FB the Raiders have had in a while. He will certainly help the offense.

Seems like a relatively cheap contract for a pretty good fullback, considering Mughelli got the biggest contract ever by a fullback last week . . .

His agent must not be very good because that contract is awfully low for one of the best fullbacks in the league. He's the first guy to get underpaid this offseason IMO.

I think some of you are overrating Griffith a bit. Here is why; he was pulled on short yardage situations for Fred McCrary. As an inline blocker he just isn't that good. He makes up for it in his versatility. His assignment was not blowing up Linebackers up front, rather taking on Safeties and Corners in space. He's a nice signing, especially since Knapp will utilize him correctly. If you expect him to plow through the middle, this isn't your guy.

This is good news to Raider fans. A solid RB tandem with solid fullback tandem .. plus a veteran on the O line. Maybe Al has really seen the light :-)

I didn't even know he was a FA. Danm I would loved if the Boys got him. Good pick up.

Wow....after the contract the Falcons gave to that dude from the Ravens, iw as expecting Griffith to get a monster deal. 3 years 3.8 million, that's the same contract Mack Strong got last offseason...amazing.

Actually Shiver in a lot of short yardage he was the RB and McCrary was the FB so he was in the game. The problem is Knapp likes to call passes in short yardage for some reason.

im probably the only raider fan that has Joe Thomas at the top of my list of players that i want drafted. would be fine with Russell then Staley i guess but he(Staley) needs time to get bigger.

edit: of course we would need to solve the qb situation first though.

awesome value for the raiders. they pay one of the best all around fullbacks in the game about 1.26 mil a year. great deal.

They stole him at that price.

Stay away from Raiders RB's in fantasy. Jordan, Rhodes, Griffith... who gets the 3 rushing TD's for the Raiders this year.

I agree. Would rather the Bucs would have signed him at that deal than Askew.

Because maybe he wanted to play for Tom Cable and Knapp, he already knows the system

Great signing. Will be an amazing one if the Raiders can utilize him correctly on 3rd down situations or goalline situations.

wow, I was expecting alot more than that especially after Ovie's contract with the Falcons.
