Boy fakes kidnapping to hide his bad grades (http://www.yahoo.com/s/1130787/*-http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/us_odd_boy_fakes_kidnapping)

"An 11-year-old boy gets high marks in storytelling after staging a hoax to cover up his bad grades. Police said the boy faked his kidnapping Friday to avoid bringing home a bad report card, saying that a man with a pistol snatched him after he left Ed White Middle School. The boy said the man forced him into a "beat-up car" and threatened to kill him.

The student said he escaped by jumping out of the car but wasn't able to grab his bookbag, which contained the report card.

He ran to his grandparents' house and later confessed to lying. His grandfather called police to apologize.

Sgt. Mark Roberts said police were suspicious that the boy was able to "escape" with his band instrument, but not his bookbag.

Roberts said the boy faces no charges at this time."

An Epic but funny fail.

Ha... we are the only hope for these damned kids. Which is very sad. :(

I always tell my students that i was way better at getting away with things than they are. This is just more proof of that.

What?? That kid is smart, except he had one flaw which was he brought his band instruments home. Great plot though.

Hey, band instruments cost a ****-load of money. My daughter's clarinet cost 500 bucks. If my kid had ditched his or her band instrument not only would I be pissed about the phony story, but I'd be kicking the cost of the instrument out of their ass as well.

Poor kid pressured so much to succeed at such a young age.Just a sophisticated form of child abuse.

If he can think this up, why couldn't he get good grades?

Probably laziness. That's usually how I get my bad grades. Probably the same for most other kids as well.

Um, anyone else think this kid's parents maybe some super strict grade-nazis who would beat him over a 'C'. Because this is a bit excessive.

Yeah, if you are willing to go that far to keep your parents from finding out your grade, there must be more then just a "no video games for a week" punishment in that home.

You really haven't spend a significant amount of time around 6th graders have you. I am, at times, baffles by their lack of logical reasoning.

I'll give you an example. This conversation could take place on any given day in one of my classes.

Me: Micheal, you really need to stop talking and get some work done.

Kid: I wasn't talking.

Me: Yes, you were I stood here and watched you. Your mouth moved and sound came out.

Kid: I wasn't talking, I was just asking Jeff what was he going to do today after school.

Me: -Facepalm-
