Vince Young comes up big for McNair's kids (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/09/17/vince-young-comes-up-big-for-mcnairs-kids/)

McNair's sons attend the St. Paul Christian Academy. On Wednesday, there was a "Dear Dads Breakfast," in which fathers take their kids out to breakfast as a group.

Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean reports that Young stepped in for McNair (http://www.tennessean.com/article/20090917/SPORTS01/909170371/2072/SPORTS/Vince+Young+fills+in+as+dad+for+Steve+McNair+s+son s), who was slain July 4.

"Those are my boys," Young told Wyatt. "I wouldn't say it was to pay anyone back; it was just out of love. Steve would do it for me. He pretty much did it for me when I was growing up. I have a history with the boys and I want to do anything I can. I am their big brother."

Great move by Young. Say what you want about him, but he definitely has a good heart. I'll keep pulling for him to get it together on the field.

I second both if these. Really shows that he's a good person, such a great thing to do.

A Perfect Score

I have always been a huge fan of VY, both on the field and off it. He seems like a genuine guy, and he single handedly beat one of the most talented college teams ever. I also maintain that he was, as were other run first QBs before him, put in a situation where they were drafted for specific talents and then asked to abandon those talents for things they were not so good at. I think that if he was just asked to play football, he would succeed. Look at his rookie year. The kid is a baller. And this just proves he is just as good off the field.

Class act, McNair was his mentor and he always had a great respect for him. Good move coming to bat, he still is the Titans' future

Classy move. Vince is that guy that you really want to overcome his limitations and succeed, partly because he does seem like a genuinely nice kid, partly so that players like him get a shot in the future.

His limitations mostly being that he isn't very intelligent and that he has some flaws in his throwing technique.

That story makes me blush like a little girl. I have heard that Vince Young is a really nice. And a hardcore christian.

Nice to see him do/say something in public that isn't stupid. That was a good thing he did for those kids.

Nice to see any athlete make headlines without doing or saying something stupid.

Young pulled through big time once again. I feel like he's a lot older than he is. It's only his third year. I feel like he's been in the league for longer. He's obviously maturing as a person and hopefully he'll be able to produce for the Titans sometime in the near future. He has the talent.

It's his 4th year, but yeah, good point.
