View Full Version : How do you fix Oakland's offense?

I'm thinking longterm, what do you do to make Oakland a better team? Obviously 95% of the posters will say bench/cut Jamarcus Russell. What do you plan on doing after that?

In the draft, do you focus on a QB? Or do you focus on the line? Or do you even go offense first round? Do you grab Mays or a DT? Maybe fix the "mistake" of Bey in the 1st round and go with Dez Bryant in the first round of this draft.

We're not one first round pick away from fixing the offense. Even if the player we pick is another Peyton Manning/Jonathan Ogden/Calvin Johnson.

Personally, the quickest way to get this offense back up to speed (ignoring the probably unavoidable lack of established coaching) is to look for a veteran quarterback. Sadly, there doesn't figure to be much available in the coming off-season (unless Chad Pennington does something for you). Relying on young quarterbacks to pull this franchise out of the ditch is never going to work out.

And then have some coaching stability with a quarterback who's willing to set the tone for the team. Then protect him and give him some good targets. Much easier said than done.

Get a vet QB, draft a olinemen high, and pray Schilens comes back healthy

Realistically there is no way to fix our offense, at least not in the near future. We'd have to draft a QB since there aren't any vet QB's available and with Al in charge that's an automatic bust. But we won't be drafting a QB anytime soon, we are stuck with Russell for a while whether we like it or not. While we anxiously await the day we can get rid of Russell we might as well strengthen the line.

1. Cut JaMarcus Russell, we made a mistake its not the first time, **** it, just cut him.

2. David Lee for Head Coach, David Lee is a great QBs coach, he started this whole wild cat craze in Miami and he actually gets it to work, plus he coached McFadden at Arkansas. Lee will make this offense work.

3. Chad Pennington for starting QB, he's the best veteran free agent and already understand what Coach Lee wants.

4. Draft Russell Okung #1 overall. or 2, i'm sure we will have a top 3 pick.

5. Hope we can land a QB like Tony Pike in round two.

This may be crazy but it looks good to me. All those moves are possible.

He's Al Davis, he's 775 years old. You don't think he made it this long without being able to take an RPG to the face like someone just threw a skittle at him?

Watching Kiffin's Vols destroy the Bulldogs makes me sad. One thing Kiffin knows how to do exceptionally well is maximize the potential of his skill position players. Also, his playcalling is arguably among the best of anyone in football today, imo.

Remember how much more polished Russell looked under Kiffin's control, and McFadden's week two performance versus the Chiefs last season before Kiffin's firing?

We had something good, why did we have to let it go???

I hate you Al.

Also keep in mind Kiffin didn't want to draft Jamarcus Russell.

Wonder what would have happened if Kiffin was allowed to build his team like McDaniels in Denver.

We would have had Calvin Johnson instead of DHB and Walker. Our QB would probably be a vet or Ryan/Flacco. Man I love the raiders
