Guard / Center, reminds me a lot of Hartings who took over for Dawson when he came over from Detriot and had never played a lick of center before he got here

Luckily for us Mahan has played center and he's bigger/stronger/faster than Hartings.

I'm excited.

Jeff Hartings was also a first round pick and a two-time All American so I'm sure he had a little bit of talent, mahan was a 5th round pick.

Yea, its pretty crazy that people are comparing him to Hartings with better skill. Mahans not good. Hes a capable backup thats it.

He is much more than a backup.

He is a very versitial player. He has started at C, LG and RG over the last 3 years. He will be competitive with Okobi, Simmons and Kemoeatu to start at either C or RG.

Even if he doesn't start, he is great depth which is something we didn't have at LG and C.

Im right there with you dude. As a Steelers fan I like the signing but as a move of depth, hes a capable backup, thats it. Comparing him to Hartings is crazy.

He can't be any worse than Simmons was last year.

From what I've heard about him he can play alot of positions which is exactlly the kind of depth we need at C and LG. If he can compete with Okobi and Simmons for a starting job than thats even better.
