Sums up my thoughts exactly

You know, they did win 41-0 right after that...

That guy has the most perfect personality for the fullback position...I'd take him there on my team any day.

Jon Ritchie just had really bad calcium deposits on his forehead. You could tap his helmet and he's start to bleed.

Schmitt is just a dumb ass. It actually reminds me of what the wrestler Goldberg used to do with bashing his head on a locker. ha.

Some kid on the football team at my old high school bled from the forehead/bridge of the nose all the time but I don't think it was inflicted this way.

FBs are sorta from a different breed of football player. I wouldn't wanna mess with a guy like Schmitt or even Alstott in his heyday.

Its a real shame the position is used much less frequently in today's pass heavy offense. Some of my all time fave players ever were FBs. Crazy bastards dominate that position for sure.

Schmitt will stick in this league not only because he can block, but because he's ******* crazy and I'm pretty sure people will be afraid to cut him.

All in all, Schmitty was even crazier at WVU.

I don't like the blood, but I LOVE the mentality!! The guy's on the verge and every great football team needs a few of em to set tempo for the rest of the team.

Psychos make cheese in the league.

Owen really is a little off upstairs. One of those guys who plays football for a million other reasons besides money.

I don't think this makes him look cool, or heroic. It makes him look like a dumb ass. He was out for the start of the game, his first NFL game that he was supposed to start, for being an idiot.

This is guy reminds me of Kyle Turley. All crazy, and a bad mo fo, then when his career ends he's gonna come back to suck on the NFL's teet because of the injuries he received for playing like he does.

Alstott was not slow. He was a fantastic athlete who was asked to bulk up. He just had the all too common misfortune of being envisioned as fullback, no matter how impressive his resume' as a runner.

"Though Alstott was a star at Joliet Catholic High and was pursued by various Big Ten schools, only Purdue recruited him with the promise of making him a feature back. He became the first Boilermaker to earn team MVP honors three times. At the 1996 combine Alstott wowed NFL scouts by running a 4.66 40-yard dash. Yet when the Bucs drafted him in the second round, with the 35th pick, they envisioned him as a pure fullback and asked him to concentrate on a skill with which he was unfamiliar: blocking. Midway through training camp before Alstott's rookie season, first-year coach Tony Dungy was forced to reevaluate. 'We began to think, Maybe we've got a little bit more than a blocker,' Dungy recalls."

This is an odd quote because if he didn't do much blocking at Purdue then it doesn't make much sense for Dungy to have assumed he was naturally a blocker; even if Dungy had it set in his mind that Alstott was a FB, which he obviously did, he probably should have been talking about developing his blocking skills instead of assuming that's all he was.
