The 1975 Indiana Hoosiers.

And I'm not just being a homer. That team was undefeated all regular season and would have probably won it all if Scott May hadn't gotten hurt. Not to mention they won it the season after.

Well it was the early 90's and 4 straight years. It was a great AFC dynasty, but only the first team really should have won. And even then they went against a team with the same record and a great defense.

For the record 1999-2000 Duke was probably one of the best teams if not the best team to not win. This isn't even the Duke fan inside me talking. They were just nasty.

Really, I mean going virtually undefeated in the regular season (which is unheard of) and losing our last game to a guy that had taken like 2 three pointers all year long in Ohio State.

We chose to play a ****** first half against UNC and still somehow found ourselves right there in the end. And the funny part is that we had about 5 WIDE OPEN looks to win the game as the clock was winding down and we couldn't hit them.

I always wonder what could've been in that game if we could've hit an open jumper.

Like I said though, going undefeated, especially in conference play is unheard of, and to even come close to touching that is ridiculous.

Anywho. This thread should really be, in the last 10-15 years since most of you don't remember or know much before that.

With that being said, my vote would go to the Indians of the mid-to-late 90's. Total offensive powerhouse with Albert Belle, Jim Thome, Manny Ramirez, Roberto Alomar, David Justice, Kenny Lofton, Omar Vizquel, Travis Fryman, etc. Made the World Series twice but got beat by superior pitching from Atlanta in '95 and choked against Florida in '97.

I'm old enough to remember that Roberto didn't play for them until '99, and Fryman until '98. But I guess you're not just talking about their WS teams. Yankees were the superior team those years. Don't forget about Sandy Alomar, Carlos Baerga, Matt Williams, and Marquis Grissom. I agree though, that team was stacked. Jose Mesa was a hell of a closer as well. I was pissed when Florida beat them. That 7th game was a classic.
