So who do you guys think has been the best freshman RB so far this season?

I gotta go with the homer pick of Bernard Pierce, dude is absolute monster, bounces off tackles, has adequate speed, can make cuts and can shake off tackles. Hands are horrible, but he doesn't see enough passes his way so who knows, really.

I waited to post this because so far his MAC competition hasn't been to great. But after playing Navy and getting to 1000 yards on the season, he is the real deal.

But what you think anyone else?

I'm sure you saw this coming but i love ryan williams game, he is so explosive, he might not have a chris johnson top gear but his explosiveness makes up for that, i love his game he reminds me(as several others have mentioned in other threads) of deangelo williams and i think he ends up being a high draft pick when he comes out

That guy for Pittsburgh. Doesn't he lead the nation in rushing as a true frosh?

dion lewis, ya he is having a great season and another great back from pitt, 5'8" 195lbs he could develop into an mjd deangelo williams type back too with a little more bulk very quick out of his cuts love his game too

edit: your frosh brown looked pretty good tonight in his limited action tonight bet you volunteers are excited about having that kid for the next couple years

Bryce should be a good one indeed. Can't wait to see his development from year one to year two as he takes over for that sexy beast Montario Hardesty. Bryce should improve a lot this spring getting all of the #1 reps and as he develops physically with some more training.

Trent Richardson from Bama.

I think he has the most potential of any freshman RB in the nation...but the player who is having the best season is Dion Lewis from Pittsburgh.

I hope he gets kicked off the team :) . I'm not exciting about facing him for the next two years and especially next year in Knoxville.

Dion Lewis and Ryan Williams for me. Love their games. Trent Richardson will be a beast sharing carries with Ingram more next season.

I think I started the whole Ryan Williams/DeAngelo Williams comparison.

Ryan Williams gets my vote for now, but Trent Richardson would probably take the cake if he was a starter.

Both are future Pro Bowlers IMO.

Ryan and DeAngelo almost look like they are related.

Dion Lewis from Pitt is having one of those years.
I'm going a little different route on this one ... Michigan State has a pair of frosh RB's in Larry Caper & Edwin Baker. Combined they have well over 600 yds & 6 TD's ... this with Caper out Saturday with a concussion. They will be an amazing 1-2 punch for the next several years in E. Lansing. Coach Dantonio is doing right, GO STATE!!
