Kinda surprised it happened now. That Mangini stays around though is also an odd thing in my opinion.

Very odd situation. GM and HCs are usually a package.

I'm sure Mangini will be gone at the end of the season.

Why would they do that? The Browns are so talented.

I am shocked honestly. I would give the guy more than an off season to do stuff. I guess he should have told Mangini no a couple of times.

This is a typical panic move by Lerner. What has Kokinis done to deserve this action and how is he responsible for this mess??? Mangini is responsible for controlling the draft and trades, Kokinis is a GM in name only and can only make suggestions.
Another firing that makes absolutely no sense if it is confirmed.
I'm sure he recommended trading Sanchez for a bunch of bums from the Jets, that trade has Mangini written all over it???
This team is indeed a disaster of epic proportions and it has Lerner's decisions to account for it and Lerner isn't going anywhere. God help us!!!

Nothing Lerner does will ever be good enough for you. For ****'s sake, everyone is sick and tired of hearing of your dribble about the man. It's bad enough it's all of the Browns forum, no need to bring it ******* everywhere.

Also, it was confirmed, try reading the original post that has a link confirming it.

"God help us" just stop rooting for the Browns then and stick to one of the other 4 teams you root for...

Kokinis fired.

http://www.news-herald.com/articles/.../nh1647108.txt

Ernie Accorsi is the new GM.

Mangini apparently was given an ultimatum. (no link)

I love how Lerner is taking action now. Yes, it seems like this was another mistake at the front office positions but you have to swing to get a hit. I really want to know what the supposed ultimatum is for Mangini. =]

My post about this in the browns forum (I know it's rarely visited).

Also for Kokinis having no merit about being fired, he was escorted out of the facilities and the Browns legal department is also pursuing a case while going through all phone logs.

It's a shame to see Kokinis leave. He did a really good job with the trades that he did this season. He got rid of kelly winslow and brian edwards who were causing problems in the browns locker room and got players that fit well in magini's system. I really think it is Magini that needs to get fired though because he wouldn't play brady quinn.

The Browns are a joke and will continue to be until they get new ownership.

Mangina is a tool. He employs attempts to employ the bellicheck system of bend but dont break. He doesnt have the finesse or feel for the game to know when to change up the play calling and throw a wrinkle at the offense. He made no significant additions to the defense from when he was handed the job.

His leadership just has WHaaaaafest written all over it. Instead of finding solutions to his teams problems he just employs a heavy dose of spreading the blame around. I wouldn't by into his weak sauce. 10 quarters to a first rd qb? I mean you cant get a feel for anyone in that short of a time especially where quarterback is one of those positions where you matriculate and ability comes with skills and techniques that have been developed. If I was Quinn I'd force my way out and if I was Anderson I'd be looking to skip town as well.

His offense is terrrrrrrrrrrible. Gain three yards, cloud of dust. Alright well if you want to gain three yards and get a cloud of dust then cool but get some components to maybe allow you to get 5 yards and a cloud of dust. EX: Last year draft, if you dont want Sanchez then get some value in return IE: Leon Washington & an O-Linemen, preferably Faneca but probably Woody. This lets you run your dinky little system while still getting good value and probably a 5th rd pick as well.

BTW im a pats fan & plain just dont like the way mangini goes about his business (spygate aside bc thats nonsense). I am pretty sure Lerner has no business owning a team & needs to sell to me for 1$. Solid.

Some of his points do seem justified.

You have a shot at Sanchez right there, and you take below value for moving down and take a bundle of cast aways who aren't starters. I'm not sure who is more to blame for that move or not, but it seems like they have just been getting rid of the little talent on the team and not adding anymore.

It's surprising it happened so fast, these aren't usually 1 year fixes, but I don't think things are getting better there at all. Still not really sure what made Mangini so attractive to Cleveland in the first place, and how he always gets so much control whenever he gets a job.

Likely Billick since Konkins is from Baltimore.

Well, if you believe that all is good in Cleveland, I question your reasoning power. How long has Lerner owned this team and what have they accomplished under his guidance. His ability to hire successful organizational people is very questionable, Butch Davis, Savage, Crennel, Mangini and Kokinis, none of them has panned out but you want to say Lerner is a solid owner. Where have you been and what team have you been watching. Almost every top draft pick by Butch Davis was a flop, Mangini got rid of Winslow and Edwards and Quinn won't be far behind them and your satisfied with the people Lerner hires to run the organization and make the draft picks.
I don't think you'll find a Cleveland fan anywhere who still believes Lerner is a solid owner or that everything in Cleveland is just swell. Again, what team are you watching this season that you still think the ship is still afloat.
I didn't post the original on this subject, some other Cleveland fan did and if you cannot face the truth of what is obvious to everybody else, then don't bother posting anymore because nothing is going to change in Cleveland with Lerner doing the hiring. Tell me one positive thing he has done to put this franchise on a solid footing and refute what I am saying about Lerner instead of acting like a spoiled brat who won't listen to anything people say to him if it doesn't agree with his own ideas.
I be waiting for your list of positive steps Lerner has taken to turn this franchise into a winning one. I think people will be looking at the shortest list in history. But go ahead post it, Everybody is waiting to see what you come up with since you obviously believe in your owner.

Whats the worse Head coaching gig?
Oakland or Cleveland?
Oakland, got an owner that interferes and just wants to win, doesn't care will go out and get the talent, usually making decisions based on physical talent and ability and thats it

or

Cleveland, right now has an owner that seems to care about the fans, but no recognizable talent to speak of (your best player is your special teams returner)

Someone should alert Phil Savage that there are immediate job openings in the Browns FO...... Brady Quinn can lease him his house.

What about that Left Tackle, and that MIKE they're pretty good =P

Browns easily... Oakland would be good if it wasn't for Al Davis, I'll try my luck in Cleveland, and not get fired for not going 12-4 my first season per Al Davis.

Well what about that...ehh inaccurate QB they got that can throw a ball 60 yards, or that RB with an average of less then 3 yards per carry but can run a 4.3 40 yard dash. They do have Nnamdi who should count as two great players. Tommy Kelly as well, and Richard Seymour. Don't hate on Thomas Howard either

I am not hating on the Raiders, if Al wasn't an idiot and he started Jeff Garcia the Raiders would over be over.500 right now IMO... it's just that I'd rather work for an owner who is not senile and I won't get fired in less than a year if I can't make the playoffs.
