I voted for Zorn, the guy has grown up as a quarterbacks coach. I feel like he could just be that guy who runs the calls Haley wants(Like Mo Carthon) and has the experience to give some input(which I don't think Mo carthon can, not as well anyways). I put charlie weiss on there because I think he'll be let go and will be an option next year for OC.

Charlie Weis and Pioli have a history, obviously, so I could see him hired here. We really need an OC to call plays.

After making 5 million a year or something I don't think Weiss would take an OC job unless he was going to use it as a bridghe to a HC job. Plus, Weiss might still make it back to ND.
so I agree with the previous poster
HARBAUGH!!!!!!!!!!!

I voted for Zorn, I can't see Weiss being the guy. Carthon will probably end up with the job, but I think the Chiefs need to go outside the house.
Here's hoping for an OC and a DC next year (Romeo Crennel).

I don't know. I'm thinking Charlie Weis isn't going to survive past this season in South Bend. My thing is when they start questioning whether or not to keep your coach, then you've already fired him. And that's where the ND program seems to be right now. I'm listening to 810 here in KC right now and Soren Petro was just handed a piece of "news" from some "source" in South Bend linking Weis' name to the Chiefs. Still rumor and speculation. But the history and need is there to make sense.

I would be ecstatic with Weis here as our OC. He knows what he's doing with an offense and we have some young talent here for him to work with (Cassel, Bowe, Charles and not so young in Chambers) so he could do some damage.
That is, when the offensive line is fixed.

Haha that would be ridiculous. I'd love it, but I don't know if Pendergast has done enough to lose this job. Our defense has played pretty well this year. Not great, but not horrible either.

I'm not sold on Pendergast and I'm not so sure the Chiefs are either lets not forget they had him on the team for awhile before they gave him the title of DC I think he was plan B all along.
That said I would like to keep him on the staff in some other way.

You do make a good point about him being on the roster for a while.
I think Krum has done an amazing job with that DL so I'd love for him to stay but I could see us upgrading our secondary coach so if Crennel decides to take a DC job here I could maybe see Pendergast moved there or to LBs or something.

Krum gets ripped by fans and media alot but I think he is a better coach then people realize he just finally has some players to work with.

Dorsey is night and day from what he was last year and a big part of that is Krum. I'm really surprised at how well he is playing and Jackson looks solid too. The longest gain the Steelers had on the ground against us was 13 yards and they are a big part of that.
Now all we need is a stud NT from this draft or FA and our DL could be scary good. Wilfork anyone?!

Currently the Chiefs have no one listed as DB coach. Although I've heard they brought in former Patriots CB Otis Smith to help with the DBs. Maybe if Crennel is brought in, Pendergast can take over the DB coaching duties.

The dots are certainly there to connect. Everyone involved has history either directly together or through Parcells/Belichick.
I don't know how much of a limb it is, but I am going to predict that next year Weis and Crennel are coordinating in KC in 2010. And I wouldn't be surprised if that was Pioli's plan for quite some time. Especially when the seat underneath Weis started to get really hot this year.

That would be pretty amazing. Both are lousy head coaches but are damn good coordinators.
They definitely want Crennel and that offer's on the table indefinitely, and will definitely talk to Weis. Charlie's going to take a job as an assistant. Maybe somewhere down the road he'll get a shot and take it as an NFL head coach, but it won't be fore awhile.
I would say Carthon is not an option (because he sucks). If Daboll gets canned from Cleveland, don't be surprised (or upset) if Pioli and Haley snatch him up as their OC. Daboll's a good young coach and knows how things need to be done. He'd benefit greatly having his superior be an offensive coach, so he can get some help.

I think Pendergast is only a fill in until Romeo Crennel is ready to coach again. He didn't even have a title with the Chiefs until it was reported Crennel turned down the job offer and said he was going to take the year off due to hip replacement surgery.

ESPN buzz is like rumors on tmz. I don't buy it until he is sitting his fat ass on our sidelines. Now on to things of much more importance, defensive coordinators. What choices do we have? Crennel? I am the only one riding the ILB bandwagon. Put a Jerod Mayor, P-Willie type ILB on that D and your talking light years better and I do think McClain is that good.

I think ILB is a need but I don't think its a first round kinda need.

I have it number 2a. 1. Pass Rusher 2a. ILB 2b. Oline (all positions)
I think ILB is a need but I don't think its a first round kinda need.
ILB wasn't a good pick last year, but if they're picking outside the (or even in the late) Top 10 and McClain falls there, that's a steal. It's also a need. He's going to be one of those all-world linebackers...
It doesn't look like they'll be in a position where Pioli will take an OL in the first round, they won't have a shot at Berry, Suh will be long-gone, and McClain is a better value than any pass rusher that will be available (though I wouldn't hate on Greg Hardy if they made him the pick).

If Rolando McClain is still there when the Chiefs pick they may want to strongly consider taking him in the first. The kid is going to be a stud in the NFL. And our ILBs are mediocre at best right now. Least the ones we're trotting out there to start.

I have been thinking if Wade Phillips get let go by Dallas and we can't get Romeo Crennel the Chiefs should really try to get Phillips I think he is a great DC.
