Pumped that the Who are gonna do the halftime show !

It was released before the official announcement today. I guess its a OK halftime show. I am getting really tired of the old bands singing at halftime. The NFL has taken the Janet Jackson titty scandal too far.

I hate the old rockstars the NFL hires to do these things but the Who is epic.

The Who is awesome, but not as awesome as they could be if Keith Moon and John Entwistle were still alive.

I know that the NFL has to appeal to a much wider demographic than just my own, but it would be nice if they used an artist that has done something in the last 20 years every now and then.

+1. I would love to see Keith Moon blow up his drum kit again.

It's not really the who w/o John and Keith. More like Roger and Pete when they're really old doing mediocre renditions of Who classics. Better than most new music they could try to bring out there though.

If they want to go Modern...they should go MUSE.

They wouldnt, though. It's either a bunch of geezers, Green Day as was said, or a pop princess or prince. Freaking terrible.

Oh or a poppy hip hop dude, ala Lil Wayne.

Muse would have been great 5 or so years ago but they have been very poolike over the last couple of years. Last 2 albums have been stinky, imo of course...

No Album will ever be as awesome as Origin of Symmetry, period.

Muse would be an amazing Halftime show. They are growing in popularity in the US as well, so maybe next year!

Muse is my favorite band. From what I've seen on the Internet and HAARP it looks like they put on a hell of a live show. I'll admit that it took me a couple of listen throughs to begin to like the Resistance how I like their other albums but it got there.

They should be a shoe-in if the Super Bowl was ever played in London like Goodell suggested. I'm opposed to that however.

Now I will actually watch the halftime show.

I'm gonna be honest, I rarely watch the halftime show. That's usually when I go either outside and mess with the grill, shoot the breeze with whom ever I am with, or do what ever until the game comes back on.

I will however be enthused that it is not some goofy, crappy group my 12 year old daughter would be all excited to see.

The Who still kicks ass. Better than any of the garbage they could get thats modern for the most part.

If they did pick a modern band or artist: Shinedown. Wolfmother and Black Stone Cherry.

If they do another throwback band: Iron Maiden would be awesome to see at half time.

Last time I check, NFL, the marquee demographic is 25-45. I would love for them to get a band from at least the 80s or 90s.

(I do like The Who, sort of, but without Keith Moon? No thanks)

Origin of Symmetry and Absolution are albums that are of extremely high quality throughout... I will agree with you that BHaR and The Resistance are somewhat lacking in this regard, but there are certainly glimpses of greatness on the albums.

Muse have the opposite issue that most bands do, they are constantly changing their sound unlike most bands who after a couple albums end up sounding the same. This is a problem for fans of the early stuff because it was heavier and darker, and the new stuff doesn't appeal to them as much.

Muse would put on the greatest live show the Superbowl has ever seen, hopefully in the next few years they'll get their chance.

For any Muse fan who hasn't seen the Hullabaloo DVD... you NEED to see it, definitely one of their greatest performances to date.

For a show as big as the halftime show a band must have universal appeal. I'm not really a fan of classic rock at all, but the Who is acceptable and recognizable enough for all ages and creeds.

The league has figured it out recently. Since the halftime show became an attraction in 1991, the league It won't be messy like when there are five or seven performers completely unrelated to each other (although that one year when Big Bad Voodoo Daddy was one of those bands was just awesome, totally awesome). The themed ones like the Indiana Jones ones turn out disastrous and complicated for a 10 minute show. Keep it simple

They're so not washed up. Pete still sounds amazing, Zak Starkey does a solid Keith Moon impression, Pino Palladino is probably the best session bassist. Although Roger's voice has lost a little bit. It's tough to replace the greatest Bassist and Drummer of all time, but the fill-ins can hold their own.

Won't Get Fooled Again, Eminence Front, I Can't Explain, the rest of Who's Next, Tommy, etc. Missin out.

I'd like to see the chili peppers get a shot at the Super Bowl, they still play a hell of a show. Start it off with "Can't Stop," then move into something a little more up tempo from Stadium Arcadium

Seems to be the rule, when at least half the fans are contemplating retirement, drag the band out for a Superbowl halftime show.

That said, I don't particularly care who plays, halftime is shrimp on the Barbie time for me. It's normally lunch time or getting close and don't want to miss any of the game.

I bet next year the NFL does KISS or something like that. Like stated, the NFL wants to do the "safe/older" rock thing but (sans McCartney) something that'll at least excite some people.

RHCP do have a shot pretty soon, but I think bands like The Police (if they are still around, I remember they did a reunion recently), Bon Jovi, U2, etc. and guys like Mellencamp, I can see maybe Dave Matthews (sadly) also being around. If Joe Strummer were still alive, we would've seen The Clash reunite.

However, the pre-show sees some recent acts though.

Bon Jovi would be a great halftime show and I think Ac/Dc would be pretty good too.
