Former Florida bowl game Defensive MVP & starting DE Carlos Dunlap was arrested Monday for DUI just 5 days before the SECCG vs Alabama.

Dunlap is ranked 3rd among NFL sr. prospects by Mel Kiper. No word yet on his possible suspension for the upcoming game from Urban Meyer.

I'm sure he'll have to run some extra wind sprints, if Spikes was going to miss a whole half against Vanderbilt for an eye gouge. I doubt he misses more than a play as a token gesture from Urban.

I'd say maybe the first defensive drive he'll get suspended.

What's not to like about this guy?

DUI and not even legal to drink yet. Wow, just imagine when he can go to bars.
I'm thinking Meyer makes him play KO's as punishment. Make him be the wedge buster and the wedge. Seems fitting.
In his defense, I read he was sleeping in his car when police found him. So this is what Florida players are doing the week of the BIG game? Good to know he's getting plenty of rest.

Yeah, sleeping in his car while it is stopped in an active intersection. That's not just "under the influence" that's straight-up WASTED.

Last year at the end of the season it was Andre Smith making news now it's Dunlap (differant reasons obviously). I think Florida makes him sit this one out and Meier uses it as a rallying cry. Dunlap's loss would be much less severe than that of Smith in the Sugar Bowl in my opinion.

Cop approached him b/c he was asleep at the wheel at a green lighted intersection at 3 AM. Passed out unconscious behind the wheel = straight up wasted, clear & present danger to other motorists, so I'll be curious to see what the judge's sentence will be for him. If he has a prior DUI it s/b mandatory jail time, IDK about Florida but it's that way in CA & most states.
And Andre Smith played in the SECCG, he missed the game after, which was the Sugar Bowl, Saban booted him b/c he was talking to an agent. That's a bit different than than getting shitfaced a few days before a big game.
Meyer will make him publicly apologize to the team & stand in the corner for ~10 mins. He won't announce anything though until the hr. before game time b/c if he's not there, Saban will come up with a new gameplan to run most of his ground game right at his substitute. And Ingram, Richardson & other Tide ballcarriers will be wearing protective plexiglass visors to prevent eye gouging.
If he is suspended for the CG, watch how fast the line on the game moves down -- Florida was a 5 & 1/2-point favorite 2 days ago.

Wow, could you imagine how bad of a person he would be if he didn't play for Florida? I keep hearing announcers say just meeting Tim Tebow will make you a better person and he friggin plays with him. Wow.
Anyways, forced to wash Urban's car, misses the first defensive series.

I brought that up and said it was a totally differant situation.

Andre Smith was drunk during the Sugar Bowl. He passed out in front of Bamas endzone and blocked it. So Bama couldn't score and Utah won the game. Thats how I remember it at least. But of course I'm a raging crack addict.

Knowing Urban Meyer, U of F will probably suspend him from classes and make him practice more.

The stupidity of such athletically blessed (and about to be financially blessed) athletes continues to amaze/disgust me.
All NFL programs with any integrity will instantly remove him from their draft boards. He already had work ethic and maturity question marks to begin with, and this just screams, "I'M NOT COMMITTED TO MY TEAM." That never bodes well in the League.

Good, suspend him. Our line will be better against the run, and it's not like he's a pass rushing force anyway. I want to defend Dunlap in all these threads, but he's just acting and playing like a bum lately.
At least all this **** might make him stay another year to get his act together.

LMAO. Saban is retooling his gameplan for Saturday & maybe Kiper his draft top 10 big board even as we blog.............
Bet he drops in the draft too, character issues, not a team player, etc -- maybe not out of the 1st rd, but not the 3rd or 4th player ranked anymore.

Dunlap would be stupid not to stay in school after this. He has to show that he's got his **** straight, not to mention he doesn't have production to back up where we currently rank him, now he has character concerns? With how conservative the NFL draft board is with their grades, I can see them saying 4th round on him.

But you said he's playing like a bum when he clearly hasn't been. He's been on fire. He's doing what he's suppose to be doing

Okay, he's played like a bum against our top competition, and got dominated by Ciron Black, who he's supposed to be drafted 2-3 rounds ahead of. He's been good at times, but there's no need to panic about the loss of Dunlap for Gator fans (not saying you are).

I'm glad that we have Willie Green, Duke Lemmons, and hopefully Earl Okine to step in and fill the void. Losing Dunlap does hurt cause he does command a double team and he's our middle guy in the "Joker" package.

It does hurt, but I see some of our fans thinking this could be our downfall against Alabama. I'd be far more worried to see Cunningham suspended, as he's been more consistent. Trattou on the other side will work fine, and we have our usual rotation in the middle.
Well, at least he didn't steal a dead girl's credit card and use it to buy gas or shoot a rifle into the air to scare someone.
I kid Gators. Kinda. But seriously, this sucks. I was looking forward to watching him with all the hype.

Watch Cunningham instead, he's been on fire against big competition, registering sacks against LSU, Georgia, SCar, MSU, and Arkansas. A lot of people think he'll be the much better player anyway, as a 3-4 OLB. I can't say I disagree.
