Okay, I started playing soccer again about a year ago and it's been great being that most of the time it's been nice cool Florida fall/winter weather. Unfortunately with temperatures creeping up already I can tell it's gonna be brutal playing this summer.

I know there are a lot of people that play sports on this forum so what do ya'll do when you are playing in crazy heat to avoid heat stroke/exhaustion?

Obviously drinking lots of cold water is the main thing, but is there anything equipment wise that will help keep your body temperature down? Something along the lines of Under Armour maybe, I know they have alot of gear for staying warm....The cheaper the better, I can't afford the giant fans that spray water and all that kind of stuff that pro athletes use. I'm just looking for anything that will lower my chances of dying. lol

gracias

DOnt drink too much water or you'll be bloated. Just put an icepak in ur pants, soccer socks and also in your jersey if you wear a singlette under your jesety while on the bench and take a few cold jugs full of to the head. SOme ice cold water on yourself will do fine. But i have problems with sweat, i'm really good in soccer but sweat drives my game off

new balance makes this fabric for their clothing its called "lightning dry" that wicks sweat away from you body and is very light. i have been using this for many a summer even though its socal it hits 100 degrees although the humidity is quite low. If its raining and cold they also make another fabric called "thermacore" its a waterproof material that also keeps you warm. so you dont have to layer. (sweater, and then water proof jacket)

Well, theres this water bottle you can get that has a pump on the bottom of it and a small hose with 4 different valves on it so if your hot you pump it up a little to build pressure and open the valve you want and it will spray you with mist or a jet or a shower type thing. Its pretty cool, I use it alot when it gets hot.

Try to wear cut off shirts as often as you can. And stay wet. Playing football down here for the last 4 years has been awful, definitely not gonna miss that.

Shave your head

it already is. ;)

I wonder, with the shirts that wick away sweat, does that actually
cool you off at all or basically just keep you from being soaked? I always thought that sweat was the body's natural method of cooling itself off...
