Let's kick things off with Roy Williams of all people daring to talk smack about the Saints:

Why on earth are you going to give them MORE motivation? WHY??

I think Dallas can give NO fits. I don't think they win, but one thing Dallas can do is sustain drives and eat up clock. That is the receipe for beating NO. And the other part of that is when you do get in the red zone, you have to score TDs. If we can convert drives and eat up clock, we have a shot. NO's defense can be had and I think you can beat their OL. If Ratliff can have a big game getting penetration up the middle, we could disrupt the timing enough to get Brees out of sync.

Now, all of that is easier said than done, but I'm not so sure we didn't play a better team last Sunday than we will Saturday.

Folk is still our kicker. They tried Bueler out yesterday from 30-35 yards out and he missed all 3, 2 of them were horribly missed. Folk didn't do much better as he went 2-4 from the same spot.

0 Faith in our team this week. I know the schedule has been tough but let's be honest, if we lose to NO were not a playoff team anyway so we don't deserve to go. We have a December schedule full of playoff teams and if we just lose to all the good teams what's that say about us?

I think we have a chance at least, but if we lose, even the slimmest of margins, says emphatically were really nothing but average.

At least Romo has yet to throw an INT, he's quietly had an amazing year and I'm really proud he has gotten better at the things in his game that needed corrected.

It's certainly possible that a win can be had against the Saints. In fact I think it's much closer than people think. The problem is that Dallas hasn't got it together, and nothing is guaranteed with them. The D breaks down at crucial moments, and the O commits idiot penalties that kill some big momentum gaining drives. One minute they're driving for 60 yards into opposing territory, and then the next they get a holding penalty to go along with a false start, then they're punting.

We need to go out there and play like this team hasn't this year. One great way to stop Drew and Co. is to keep them off the field. This team is very beatable and in the last 2 weeks they've won by 3 in each game. Those two teams were also the Redskins and Falcons with no Ryan or Turner.

The Saints have a great record but honestly only 3 of those wins are impressive Eagles, Giants, and Pats. It must be nice to play in a division with the Bucs, Panthers, and Falcons.

I don't think Ware will play but we do get Ken Hamlin back!.
Typically our problem has been turnovers but that really isn't the excuse any more, our O-Line just hasn't been worth a ****. We abandon run early and Wade and Garrett will get smoked all week.

41-27.

Once again, a game that isn't Romo's fault.

Ehh, I don't think so....sadly, it'll be about how bad the Saints played, more than how great the boys played. Unless it's a blowout.

That's probably why he is doing it. You don't show everything that you do all season. Now that it's the end of the season you do stuff you normally don't do. Why? Because teams haven't seen it. THat's short term. Long term, if you make the playoffs, now teams have extra stuff to prepare, which allows you to continue using it, or go back to other stuff, leaving them to study and prepare for useless stuff. Breaking tendencies is very important.

M.O.T.H.
12-19-2009, 07:37 PM
Bleh...he should have been doing it all year, and he should have been playing Felix more all year long. Put your best players on the field. And mass protection...finally. How many times does Romo have to be pealed off the turf before we see some mass protection? Garrett has been far from perfect this season and it has really hindered our offense in a lot of ways this year. His red zone/goal line playcalling is still garbage to this day. It's nice to see some improvements in his playcalling the last few weeks, though.

That looked like a lead power with barber. That just a regular lead run. Either way good play call. From the 3 or so games I have been seeing except for that horrible quick handoff on the goal line stand, I don't see the issues with the playcall. I still wouldn't sleep on the Saints offense. Second half is when they usually go insane with points.

We would be crazy to do that. They can score 3 TD's in a hurry. We have to keep the throttle up for the entire game and not get passive at any point, we have seen the Saints start slow many times, this is no different.

You've been lucky enough to hit the Cowboys games where Garrett actually runs in the redzone and goal line. He literally refused to run, earlier in the year. Throwing the ball on the one yard line three times in a row on several occasions. Genius. Or constantly going into shotgun on 3rd and one, despite having two excellent pass catching TEs and one of the leagues best short yardage backs. He has ignored Barber, Witten, and Bennett all year long in goal line situations.

Who beats him out then? Crayton? yea right. Hurd? He's solid but he won't supplant Ogletree whose already got a bigger piece of the passing offense as a rookie then Hurd does. It's pretty blatant he'll be our #3 guy, especially when you factor in how much Jerry loves him, it's a done deal and he'll likely start out that way during TC.

You could of used that exact same argument for why Austin would never pass Crayton up. Now look. Matter of fact that sounds exactly like what people were saying about Crayton having an advantage over Austin.

If you can't realize that in a year Ogletree will be 10x better then Crayton I don't know what to tell you. Evolution. Crayton is getting worse and slower, Ogletree is only going to get better, and asking him to be the slot WR isn't asking alot.

ugh. The smart money is on Crayton. Austin wasnt even given a real chance at the #2 job in TC. And so long as Crayton is still on the team, he wont be relegated to a 4th WR role. Book it. It's not like Dallas tries to rush their young receivers, either. That being said, Ogletree looks more polished than both Hurd and Austin at this point in their careers for sure but, as long as Crayton is still around, he'll be the #3.

My point was that look at Austin's career catches and Crayton's before the season, now look who is starting. So I just wouldn't be talking about Ogleetree has 5 catches as a reason why he won't get that job. He's heavily involved now for a rookie, Jerry loves him, he's going to get every chance to take that job.

Plus you would have to be blind to think Crayton is better or more explosive, add in Crayton a year older and Ogleetree in his 2nd year so you can factor in the progression and regression in the two naturally.

We'll definately revisit this topic during the off-season though, but I don't even think it'll be close.

M.O.T.H.
12-19-2009, 09:43 PM
Yeah, it's not something to even worry about right now. But the only way I see Ogletree getting that job is if Crayton is gone because, there is a zero percent chance that he will be the #4 guy. No chance at all. Crayton has proven enough to def. have the odds on his side in regard to who gets the #3 spot next year.

Is he the best available? There has LITERALLY got to be a better option, maybe surgery screwed him up who knows, but he's the worst kicker in the league hands down at this point.

We'd only be hurting ourselves keeping him at this point.

M.O.T.H.

Folk's pregame misses were disgusting. They werent even close, that hip surgery may have ruined his career. Everything getting pushed to the right horribly, he cant seem to get around on it.

Also, it sounds like we dont even view Buehler as an NFL caliber place kicker, just a kickoff specialist. He was missing everything pregame as well and has reportedly been awful at practice. Dude was money on those kickoffs in the dome today at least.

As for Roy, I got a good laugh out of Millen defending him. Roy's been regressing for years and we're all seeing it first hand now. A good red zone option but, he's in no way close to that "#1 receiver". He's had a few good weeks and a bunch of bad ones. He's helped us like a lot of us expected him to in a way but, he was def. not worth the price we paid, he nearly cost us the game before Folk's attempt at doing so. Two more drops on would be first downs.

Yea, I thought I just noticed this. I don't get it. It seems like he's doing a bit more then being honest, seems like he has a problem with Dallas in general but oh well, I think it makes them look silly after the fact when nights like these are the outcome.

I also can't say enough good things about Anthony Spencer, for getting a slow start to his career he's blossomed very well into a great overall player for us vs the run and pass.

I can see all the Diabolical Haters now. Even Romo mentioned how he was surprised Dungy said the Cowboys "Have no chance at winning this game".

Nobody gave Dallas a chance in hell of winning in NOLA, all the talking heads ranting last wk. on how the Saints will be undefeated going into the playoffs, ad nauseum. My wife was online during the game & I got ****** out of NFL Network by Comcast so I wasn't involved at all, I was instantly jubilant when she told me from her quilting chatroom of all places that someone from Arkansas posted that Dallas was up 24-3 in the 4th qtr. then ESPN showed the Ware sack that sealed the W I went through the roof!

Nobody gave Dallas a chance, Ware carted off the field on a gurney a wk. ago, Romo in the dumps, all that crap, then this win through the dominance of a pass rush that owned the Saints o-line all night, wow! Reminded me of the way Dallas stopped the Indy Colts undefefated win streak in Dallas a couple of yrs. ago, it's becoming a Cowboys tradition.

I was also reminded of that line from Major League when the Indians mgr. tells the locker room Nobody is giving us a chance at all this yr, so let's give 'em a nice big shitburger to eat....

Now if the 9ers can pull off another upset in snowbound Philly today I'll be ecstatic, I want the Eagles demoralized & in disarray when they face Dallas in Dallas for the season grand finale. Playoffs have gone from a possibility for the Cowboys to a probability.

Modano
12-21-2009, 03:39 AM
I think we are very dangerous team. But we miss consistency. Our problem, all year long, has been missed oppurtunities. We lose close games because we can't capitalize, and the SD game is a perfect example. Saturday we played an almost perfect game and still NO had a chance to win because Folk missed a cheap shot.
And what the hell happened to him? He used to be not only automatic but also clutch. Is it mental?
When he made his first FG he knew that it was good from the exact moment he hit the ball. So maybe his injury is still bothering him and he can't kick the way he used to.

M.O.T.H.
12-21-2009, 04:29 AM
I think the mental aspect has def. creeped into the picture now but, it doesnt even look like he can get around on the ball anymore. He's pushing everything to the right horribly, regardless of the spot of the ball. The surgery was on that right hip and it looks like all the torque generated from the hip is messed up, too tight, whatever. He just doesnt get completely around. A rather routine surgery may have ruined him for good.
