Dr. Kervorkian & Betty Ford (I think) have already completed the journey of life to the Other Side.

Fidel Castro & Bush 41 may already be dead & have become zombies: "Brains!! I smell brains!"

I think we've killed Amy Winehouse off by acclamation here............& Steve-O too, sober or not, all it takes is one of those Jackass stunts gone wrong.

YotoJets007
12-23-2009, 07:38 PM
Did the death of Brittany Murphy prompt you to do that?

Philliez01
12-24-2009, 04:40 PM
Usually, it's safe to pick 7 older people, 1 80s icon (Swayze and the Breakfast Club dude made two though), 1 younger person (Murphy) & 1 defining death (Ledger, Jackson, etc. that's a difficult one)

Let me go with:

Oldies:
Steinbrenner
Wooden
Rickles
Vigoda
Clark (though it doesn't count until I assume he ends the countdown?)
Nancy Reagan
Robert Byrd (guarantee it)

80s Icons:
Morten Hacket (lead singer of a-ha)

Young Person:
Pete Doherty

Defining:
You know....I loved Frasier, but I'm gonna say Kelsey Grammar. He's had a few heart-related issues in the past and failed TV shows. Hope not though (as with everyone on the list).

Presidents are too easy but Carter is still traveling pretty well though H.W. looks to be the next one to go. If Carter had two terms, I'd say him but I'll say H.W. goes first.

I'd like to say Keith Richards, but I'm convinced he's indestructible. I'd also like to throw out Carl Reiner as an option (hehe on irony of "throwing out") nor should we forget about Elizabeth Taylor, especially with the heartache of MJ factor.

I'm going to add a Jackson, let me say Tito.

Kevorkian is still alive and kicking, as I do believe he recently failed a political run in...I want to say Michigan's 3rd District (don't guarantee though)?

Betty Ford is still here too.

SuperMcGee

Philliez definitely touched on it in all his science, but I'm going heavy on the First Lady route. Wooden was my first thought when I started thinking Death Pool, but I'll leave him off of mine.

My 10:

Betty Ford
Nancy Reagan
Barbara Bush
Steve Jobs
Dennis Hopper
Lex Luger
JD Salinger
Corey Haim
Jeff Hardy
Emmanuel Lewis

Now watch it be Rosalynn Carter.

Yes, Betty Ford is still here but barely hanging on, Dr. Kevorkian is (ironically in his case) still alive.

the Breakfast Club dude made two though

I assume you meant John Hughes, the director of those Brat Pack 80s movies, died last Aug. 9th, RIP. Judd Nelson's & Ally Sheedy's film careers might be on life support now though....:)

No chance in hell Dennis Hopper dies. No chance.

Probably true, but I was told that Hopper, the former poster boy for the 12 Step recovery movement, has fallen off the wagon, & he's > 70 now, a painter friend told me that Hopper, an artist & the darling of the LA art/photography scene, showed up at a Santa Monica exhibit of his really 3 sheets to the wind. Hopper though is tough as they come, like somebody said of Keith Richards, he can "eat nails & piss rust." Those who've partied with him though have a high casualty rate: Brian Jones (liquor & downers oh-dee a month after booting from the Stones for doing too many drugs in '68, think about that one for a minute), Gram Parsons (wrote Wild Horses whle Richards wrote Dead Flowers in their French chateau, dead from smack oh-dee a yr. later, ended up with "rhinestones in the ashes"), or former GF Marianne Faithful (luckily still alive, found comatose near death in NY crackhouse 10 yrs ago).

Other than Al Davis, I'm surprised no one has picked any Raiders or Raiderettes, they seem to have a very high premature mortality.

Good call on Elizabeth. Feel terrible for her, but I saw an interview of her in October/November and she definitely looked worn down/thinner than usual. I think she could make it to 2011 or so, but definitely not next Pres. Election.

I say Scott Weiland every year, I'm beginning to think him and Amy Winehouse are going to battle to be the heir to Keith Richards.

Yep, Hendrix, Janis Joplin, & Jim Morrison, all dead at age 27 within a few months of each other in 1971, RIP.

IDK how old Cobain was at the time of his suicide, maybe 27 too. He had some awful stomach disease that put him in excruciating pain (his suicide note said he couldn't take it anymore), + a heroin addiction, + being married to Courtney Love, that would kill anyone.

While waiting to get my hair cut this morning I read the GLOBE & their celeb death pool. We all know the GLOBE wouldnt lie .....<sarcasm>

They said both Pamela Anderson & Steve Tyler have hepatitis C, Pam from sharing a dirty needle with former hubby Tommy Lee (he denies it). Hep C is incurable & destroys the liver, & both Tyler & Anderson still drink, her photo with her std. max cleavage showed her with her glass of wine in hand, she drinks gallons of it still, that's a lifestyle problem that will get her killed. Her dr. told her she was seriously flirting with early death after her umpteenth breast surgery with hep, she says she has "5-10 more good yrs. left." She's whistling past a graveyard IMO.

And Tyler is gong to be 62 this yr, looks like death warmed over after decades his rockstar lifestyle debauchery.

Tyler has checked into rehab a few times. Obviously rehab doesn't help whisk away health problems, but I think he can be okay for a bit more. Pam Anderson admitted that she was joking when saying that statement on Howard Stern I do believe.

Dennis Hopper according to a few celeb gossip sites, is knocking on death's door and is just waiting for a room assignment. He looks to be the first big casualty of 2010.

Robert Byrd, senator from WV, has been looking worse ever since his re-election. He's 92 and is often wheeled into the chamber as I've noted on CSPAN. He's not looking too hot.

I also think Conrad Murray will die (MJ's Doc) from his own hand though. Don't like the combo of failed child support plus criminal investigation. He's shooting up the Big Board.

He talks in his book all about the suicide attempt...Drinking himself nearly into a coma and then downing a bottle of pills before being found by some of his Mad TV castmates and having his stomach pumped.

There's another story about a binge drinking episode where he wakes up covered in his own ****. The book puts a completely different spin on the type of guy he is, and I went from thinking what a douche to liking him as a comedian.

Still, I think 2013 is a generous estimate.

2012 is the earliest I'll give. I'm thinking:

2010-Gets supervised for the next few months or more by relatives, friends, etc. and makes a return to Stern. Might even do a unscheduled stand-up bits.

2011-Creates another book, even though I know he released one very recently, he talks about his latest attempt and weight loss, etc.

2012-Joins something like Celebrity Fit Club or some vh1 Celeb show (Dr. Drew?)....and then that leads to.....

I feel for the man though. To want to end your life like that, is a very terrible and sad thing. I don't obviously agree with suicide (who does?) but just the fact that someone would think that way is a very sad thing. I hope he gets his life on track and continues on.

BTW, FWIW (ahahah back to back acronyms) I did the same thing with Lohan, Spears, etc.

Gumby Animator Art Clokey Dies at 89 in California

"Clokey first molded Gumby for a surreal student project at the University of Southern California called "Gumbasia." That led to his making shorts for the "Howdy Doody Show" and several series through the years"

Dammit. This part sucks. Salinger was my favorite on one here, too.

Philliez definitely touched on it in all his science, but I'm going heavy on the First Lady route. Wooden was my first thought when I started thinking Death Pool, but I'll leave him off of mine.

My 10:

Betty Ford
Nancy Reagan
Barbara Bush
Steve Jobs
Dennis Hopper
Lex Luger
JD Salinger
Corey Haim
Jeff Hardy
Emmanuel Lewis

Now watch it be Rosalynn Carter.

RIP JD Salinger, thank God I made it through 7 yrs. of intense American Lit. studies without ever having to read you. John Updike, who also died last yr (09), was much better. Also Joesph Heller, & Stormin' Norman Mailer among the same crowd of NY literati Salinger ran around with, they were were better stylistically, total oeuvre, etc. It needed pointing out here as a literary QC matter.

And RIP great American historian Howard Zinn, UC Berkeley should name bldgs. on campus after him.

Howard Zinn also died today.

Howard Zinn, the historian who is regarded as brilliant by some because he was mentioned in a movie. In truth he had a clear agenda trying to prove that white people were mean to brown people through history. Seemed like a nice guy, but his history was biased.

Four more months.

I'm a little upset about how my picks have gone thus far. I went with age over abuse (sans Doherty) and illnesses. With modern medicine these days, I think it's always safe to go with age. Only chance I have at Mcgee is if Doherty finally gets knocked off.

I know, dumb decision now. Vigoda is one more advertisement away from having a Betty White career resurrection and Rickles is better than ever.
