Sadly to say he kind of deserves it. This team is playing better. But they will never compete for a championship under him so in a way it is dissapointing he got extended. Now they just have to take away his power to sign FAs and make trades.
Is it possible that Eddie Curry's recent statement forced this deal???

Eddie Curry should keep his mouth shut until he learns how to play defense and rebound.

Exactly. He is a decent coach... he's just the worst GM ever (aside from drafting).

Although I still wanna kill him for not taking Marcus Williams. People say we already have too many guards on this team. I didn't care, we have no point guards.

But then you couldn't play Stevie Franchise and Starbury all day long, allowing them to carry you to a championship with their great team play.

Good one. Stevie Franchise should rot on the bench until a team wants to trade for his expiring contract, or until it actually expires.

Well, that time expiring three was nice. However, sportscenter did fail to comment on all the games he has lost for you...
But yeah. The Knicks have so much potential... they just need to kick a few people to the curb and get a decent point guard.

damn, I thought this was actually going to be a good thread. I love talking about how the world may end, the four horsemen of the Apocalypse, the battle of Armegeddon, pretty much the whole book of Revelation.

I think it is much more than that. The problem with Isiah is, Yes he got this team to a better record, which I guess deserves for him to get an extension. But until this team plays anything considered defense (minus David Lee the best player on the team BTW), they will never realistically challenge for even an Eastern Conference championship. The East is terrible and will only get better, the Knicks still have a long way to go.
The problem with getting a PG, is that Starbury thinks that he is one, and may become pissed off if the team gets another one.

So put him at 2 and give him more opportunity to score and take shots. He should love that.

Well, by potential I meant... possibly great players. Channing Frye will be a complete beast in a couple years, Marbury can be a great player if you don't have him playing with Franchise... then you have Nate and Q, who could both be very very solid 6th men. Curry is a good player, just annoying. I dunno, I'm not saying a PG will fix everything, but you'd be solid, and in a good position for the next couple years if you had a good young one.

I guess the problem is I think Frye is overrated. Another guy who doesn't play a lick of defense and has ZERO inside game. All he can do is hit that 15-18 foot jumpshot. And he is extremely streaky when it comes to that.

That's why I say "in a couple years." He needs time to learn some things that he never learned/never needed to learn in the college game. As of now I agree with him being overrated, but give him a good coach to work on his post game and defense...

I don't know if he'll ever develop into a dominant player. He would need to bulk up, he gets outmusculed in the post quiet frequently.
If Lee would improve his mid-range jumper, he could be VERY good.

He doesn't need to be a dominant post player to be a dominant player (offensively). If he develops even a mediocre inside game, and then makes his outside shooting more consistent, he could be dominant(offensively). Defensively you're right, he'll always be a bit of a liability down low unless he bulks up...

And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seals, and I heard, as it were the noise of thunder, one of the four beasts saying, Come and see.
And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

Yeah well if Flair and Double A were there it would have been different! Double A would have hit him with the Double A patented Spinebuster and Flair would have slapped on the Figure Four and his reign would have come to end and then Flair really would have been Champion of the WORLD!!! ;)

Thomas has finally "got it," whether it was Dolan finally putting his foot down, or him coming to an epiphany, he understands this team is rebuilding. A core of Curry, Lee, Frye is a good start, next we need to start working on the back court, which I expect this years draft picks to be.

SCREW LARRY BROWN
I think some of the Larry Brown hatred in NY is funny. Larry Brown in one year couldn't do what Isiah is doing this year. This is true. However if Larry would have stayed for long run, there is no doubt in my mind he could have shaped this team to at least compete for a championship. Isiah has the team playing better now but eventually what he get them to do is going to peak at a lot less than what Larry could do. Knicks are winning more games, but fans seem to look past the fact that they play ZERO defense. Possibly the worst in the NBA. Until Isiah does something about that, and he doesn't seem to be, the Knicks will never be back in the Championship game like they were in the early 90's.

Quit acting like the Knicks just won the NBA Championship. They're 29-34. If the playoffs would start today, they would be the 8th and final seed in an insanely weak Eastern Conference. Translation: the Knicks still suck.

I like Balkman too, mainly because he plays defense. But he is an energy player. He is nothing more than a 7th or 8th guy off the bench. Teams need players like that, but Williams could develop into a potential very good starting PG. The Knicks got extremely lucky Williams dropped that far and still screwed it up.

man i dunno about larry shaping this team he isnt really a good coach he tried to make the knicks into a detroit piston team if you didnt relize the knicks have a fast, athletic team. he tried to play the half court game. and last season he thought he was a scientist he kept experimenting line ups. your in ny larry we want to win. and larry brown is a pig, he took all the money for doing ****. I think we have a bright future, but channing frye isnt doing much to help, he can shoot really good, but he has to get more aggresive.

well you dont know the adversity the knicks had to go through after all the mockery and all the stuff the media has done to the ny knick franchize. we have to have our glory, and the knicks are playing way better than the record if you ever actually saw the knicks play this season they re playing really good, when they loose its a close game, but we gotta play the whole game, not just waking up in the third and fourth quarters

him and david lee are energy players but when balkman comes out to play its really fun to watch, and i was really pissed the knicks passed up on him, it was funny like two hours before the draft, i was actually thinlking about the knicks trading up for marcus williams, and he came to us with out trading, but we took some random guy who schould of been picked in the second round. but i have a good feeling about renaldo

What kind of teams win in the playoffs? I just wouldn't get overexcited about the Knicks winning more games. The East is terrible and they are still very far from seriously competing. And I'm not sure they ever will with the core players they have on this team.

well renaldo is a good player that fits how the knicks wanted to play some one who could run in the fast break, thats how the knicks wanted to play they wanted to run the courts and play barly any defense, thats the style in how the knicks are supposed to play not playing half court game like larry brown intened to.

The Knicks wanted to play barely any defense? They'll never win like that. Hell the Suns have a hard time winning in the playoffs like that and they are a ton more talented on offense. It exciting to watch though. That combined with the fact the Knicks have had a bunch of back page grabbing last second wins has this city confused on what a good basketball team looks like.
