View Full Version : 3rd Annual Studio Based Make-A-Movie Comp

1. Draft your Studio and the Project you want to Produce. Each will be listed below. Each has its own budget and has demands from the studio you must meet. There will hopefully be 12 people in this draft, so each studio can be drafted TWICE.
2. Draft your Writer ($1M Base, +$1M Oscar Nom, +$2 Oscar Win), Can Pass on a Writer and Choose yourself for free. If you want to choose a Writer/Director as one person, you must pass on the writer round, and specify during your director pick that he will be doing both jobs. This person will cost the directors fee, and not the writers fee.
3. Draft your Director ($5M Base, +$5M Oscar Nom, +$10M Oscar Win)
4. Draft your Cast ($5M Base, +$5M Oscar Nom, +$10M Oscar Win, +$15M Leading Role in a $150M Grossing Movie (there will be a list of these below)). NOTE: The bonus money does not stack. You simply take the option that costs more. This means that if you draft Johnny Depp, who receives a +$15M Bonus for being the Leading Role in a $150M Grossing Movie, he does not ALSO cost +$5M for being an Oscar Nominee. That means that no single person will cost more than $20M.
5. Spend Money on Film (Visuals Effects, Cinematography, Editing, Sound, Music, Set Design, and Costume Design. Each are bought in a clip of 1% of your Total Budget. That means that if you have a $100M Budget, you spend $1M per point you want to add to each Technical aspect. If you have a $25M budget, each point is bought at a $250K clip. You want to spend the money on what you believe your film is. If its a Costume Drama Period Piece, you need Costume and Set Design Points.)
-The Winning Film Will be Based on a Points Criteria.
a. Each Filmmaker will send Comahan a list of their top 3 films in this competition other than their own. Each film listed on each list will receive 1 point.
b. Each film will receive 1 point for every vote that it receives in the public NFLDC "Which Movie Would You Most want to See?" representing Box Office.
c. Each film will receive 1 point for every vote that it receives in the public NFLDC "Which movie to you think is better?" representing precursor awards.
d. Each film will receive 1 point for every non-required (not demanded by the studio) technical aspect of their film that has 10% or more of the films budget put into it. (Meaning, Your movie gets +1 point if you have at least 10% of your budget put into set design.)
e. Each film will receive 1 point for every non-required $20M Actor in their cast as a representation of Box Office success.
f. The Finals will take place when the 6 Films are nominated for Best Picture at the Commie Awards. The points will be added and the film with the most total points will receive the Commie Award.
Here is a list of the Studios, their budget, and their demands;

No, the movie you described would sweep the Oscars. You would win a Razzie cause no one likes your sketchy little country.

What is the point of a writer?
comahan
01-29-2010, 01:51 PM
Same as the point of a director or actor, to have their name attached to the project for more oomph (oomph i say!)
In the end its just random names in your own plot, the names just draw eyes to it.
