How can you go against the guy who is on pace to break Randy Moss' and Gale Sayer's record for most 50 yard touchdowns before the age of 24?

DeSean Jackson has 10 already, Sayers has 11 and Moss has 15. Also he is tied for the most 50 yard touchdowns in a season all time with 8 of them. The answer is DeSean Jackson

Because I voted for the guy leading the NFL in 40+ yard runs.

So, if this was what you were gonna do, why didn't you just make a "DJax is teh most explosive player in teh nfl, lol" thread and not pretend you aren't being a complete homer?

Chris Johnson is the one and only player who is capable of running high school level plays at an NFL level and making them successful. Ive literally seen him take a toss-sweep that pop warner kids run to the house because he flat out is faster then everyone on the field.

Honorable mentions to Jackson and Hester, but Johnson is just that much faster then everyone. Its ridiculous, actually.

EDIT: 6000th post! WHO KNEW!!!

I feel like Chris Johnson and DeSean Jackson are really on par as far as explosiveness goes.

It's hard to judge between positions, because we know that Chris Johnson had 358 chances to be explosive while DeSean Jackson only had 62.

And I'm not trying to be mean, but what did you honestly hope to accomplish with this thread? "explosive" isn't a quantifiable adjective so no matter how the board votes I don't think you can walk away from this with any interest in the poll :p

Yeah, and not to mention that Chris Johnson has about 30-35 lbs of bulk on Jackson, and he's still faster.

Yeah... why go off stats? I mean DeSean didn't just lead the NFL in big plays with 14 plays over 40 yards or anything... Yep. Whadda homer, saying things that are based on facts.

breaking a 40 yd. run>>>>>>>catching a 40 yd. pass. WR stats appear more explosive due to the nature of the position.

Chris Johnson, with DJax a close 2nd. Harvin might beat them both out with another year of experience to prove it.

If you count Desean's punt returns, which I do, then he is defnitely up there but I will take a RB who can break an 80 yard run at any second rather than a reciever who runs straight and catches the ball. I'm not saying that what Desean does isn't explosive but which is more rare?

It's hard to judge between positions, because we know that Chris Johnson had 358 chances to be explosive while DeSean Jackson only had 62.

On the other hand not every one of those 358 "chances" were actual chances. Sometimes a run play is designed to get 2 yards for a 1st down. And Jackson returns punts doesn't he? Don't those count? Like you said, it's pretty hard to quantify.

I voted Desean Jackson, but it was purely the homer inside of me. Its definitely CJ but Desean is definitely 2nd.

it's pretty clear that the correct answer is knowshon moreno.

also, devin hester? what is this, 2006?
I was gonna vote other thinking Moreno, but your status changed my mind :)

Kinda crazy thought but how about freak DE's who fly to the ball of the snap? Someone like a Freeney (homer I know!) I think counts as being pretty damn explosive..

jaMarcus Russell is the most explosive. Something in his brain appears to explode on almost every play.

Dwight Freeney belongs in this conversation. He may not have the 'explosiveness' of some RB's and WR's, but relative to his position he's highly combustible.

Well one runs deep routes a bunch of times a game and he's good at it but probability says he'll probably get a long catch a game. The other one makes deep routes happen by himself with 11 guys chasing him. Easy choice.

Dockett is a beast though...He plays the same role as Ngata (NT, DE, Best DL) , and is as underrated as Ngata was a couple years ago.

If we are using stats to display explosiveness, then I would say Johnson had 3 touchdown runs of 85 or more yards this past season. No other RB has had that many in their entire career.

Frank Gore had 2 in same game just this season. He might have another in previous years, not sure.

By the way this between Johnson & Jackson.
