horrible vikings draft. the vikings dont really need a corner. our secondary problems are in our safeties. we dont need a defensive end at all unless ray edwards leaves, which i dont think he will. dont know a lot about edds, but if he is a wlb, then i am fine with it.

Switch Dwyer with a CB and that's a good draft for the Bucs.

Solid KC draft. I'd prefer Nate Allen over Ryan Mathews but it's not a bad KC draft at all.

horrid dolphins draft. Spikes is a major reach at 12, Burnett is too much like the other safeties on the roster (can play FS but natural position is likely SS) and is a reach, and Gilyard (only good value pick) is too similar to pretty much every WR on our roster, particularly Ted Ginn.

ROUND 1

9) BUFFALO BILLS - Dez Bryant, WR, Oklahoma St.
13) SAN FRANCISCO FORTYNINERS - Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers

41) BUFFALO BILLS - Jason Fox, OT, Miami, Fl
55) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES - Navarro Bowman, OLB, Penn State
71) CLEVELAND BROWNS - Eric Norwood, OLB, South Carolina

I almost stopped reading it after the Bills opted to take a WR over arguably a top 3 left tackle if not top tackle... Despite the severe oversite there, I did and this is what I thought. I would officially become a Saints fan if the Bills again wasted a first round pick on a player who does not fill a glaring need on the team, instead wasting it on a project or luxury, the offense will not improve with the addition of a WR before they get a LT and QB in place... WR is not a priority for this team. This is in no way, shape or form a knock on Bryant, who I think is better than Crabtree.

In the second round, if they did the right thing in the first they could pick up some much needed help at linebacker and improve against the run. Of coarse the possibility of a move to the 3-4 significantly alters everything for the bills, in which case norwood still makes alot of sense, although Maybin might finally find a place on the team.

In the third round, despite my not being objected at all to taking two tackles in the draft, with Butler coming back (how healthy?) and the reasonable play of Meredith this past season I would not put it as a top three round priority, Gilyard would be a steal, and Thomas fits the need of a big WR opposite Evens and fill the value/need combination at that spot in the draft.

Again this is all my opinion, if the draft went like this:
1 - Davis (LT)
2 - Bowman/Norwood (OLB)
3 - Thomas/Gilyard (WR)

It would make alot more sense to me... There still would be needs, but from a value/need perspective this would make more sense in my opinion.

I think with the Bears hiring Martz we go with a Tackle with our first pick. So Veldheer or Saffold.

Browns:

1) Haden
2) Chad Jones
3) Eric Norwood
3) Ciron Black

Great job with the Browns, especially with the positions addressed. We can argue over specific guys, but OLB, RT/RG, CB, and S are big.

I'm a fan of Chad Jones, so that was nice to see him there.

Norwood fell and we felt like that was the best pick of the draft. Fills a need with very awesome value.

I was wondering about that too, I think Clausens going to the Rams anyway. What do Redskin fans think will happen at QB?

I would be cool with Detroit going linemen 1-2. Plenty of the Lion's fans are sold on Iupati ... curious why you have the Jet's investing another 1st round pick on an offensive lineman? They need a WR & CB next to Revis imho ...

its honestly too hard to say at this point. im sure shanahan and bruce allen are doing their due diligence on both clausen and bradford as much as they possible can. i personally do not believe that either qb is the type of qb that would succeed in shanahans styled offense. additionally, the redskins offense is in a situation where no young qb is likely to succeed.

The jets OL depth is literally nothing. If one of them were to go down, we'd be screwed. Plus Faneca's play really declined this season, and is getting pretty old.

I would not be highly upset with your picks, but switch our 3rd to a DT and I absolutely love it. You focus on the main thing that we need to, our front 7. But personally I would love Norwood before Muckelroy. But overall I wouldn't be mad at all since we got Weatherspoon.

two linebackers and a safety?

if we fuse them all together we could make our own gigantic NT and place them in the enormous gaping hole in the center of our defensive line that TERRENCE cody would've filled so nicely.

that being the case, i sure am glad that you have us passing on him!

Graham/Kindle/Hughes/Iutapi all >>>> R.Sapp
The position of need was OLB so kudos on that

T.Tebow- eh

P.Robinson- he's a player that's been droppin people's boards but I still think he's a talent and if L.Bodden isn't resigned, would be a welcomed addition

C.Wooten- Great pick. Fills a need and is good value at the end of the 2nd

If I was running this draft- it would have looked like this though:

1- OG Iutapi
2- OLB J.Hughes
2- CB P.Robinson (if Bodden leaves)
2- RB J. Best (If Bodden resigns)
2- C.Wooten

I'd be shocked to see Gilyard and Odrick fall as far as they do.

And I'd be pissed if the Pats passed on Gresham at 44 for anybody, let alone Tebow. 2 or 3 picks later they could still select Tebow (even though I hope they don't) so why pass on the best TE in the draft when TE is a major need?

thebow305
02-03-2010, 04:20 PM
Not a very good draft for the Phins. The first rounder is obviously horrendous, as Spikes is no where near worthy of a top 12 selection. I also think Burnett is a bit of a reach at that spot in the 2nd. He seems more like a late 2nd-mid 3rd guy. Gilyard would be a solid value in round 3, but I would prefer Demaryius Thomas.

This draft would be better for the Phins:

1. Derrick Morgan (Great Value at position of need for us.)
2. Jermaine Gresham (Not a huge need, but too much value to pass up.)
3. Demaryius Thomas (Just a bigger target to complement our smaller receivers.)

That draft would be a tremendous one for us! Morgan would allow us to add some much needed pass rush help with the possible/probable departures of Jason Taylor and Joey Porter. And Gresham & Thomas would give Henne some big-time new targets in the passing game and make our offense real legit next season.

22) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - Ricky Sapp, DE/OLB, Clemson
44) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - Tim Tebow, QB, Florida
47) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - Patrick Robinson, CB, Florida St
53) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS - Corey Wootton, DE, Northwestern

Great pick that fits our biggest need.
Can I complain? CAN I???
We don't need a CB, give us a WR/RB instead.
Great pick, we need a DE.

Good mock overall.

That's a really bad Vikings mock. Not filling either of our 2 biggest needs, S and QB. CB isn't a big need, and to me isn't a need at all, unless some player of great value falls, and Warren isn't that. I love Hardy and his value is good there, but DE isn't a need, unless Edwards leaves in FA, which he could, and if he does that'd be a very good pick, but if not, then that's another horrible pick. I like Edds quite a bit, but I don't think he has good value there, and OLB isn't a huge need and is more of a luxury pick as Leber could be upgraded, but is plenty good enough to start.

I'd give that Vikings draft a D. I don't think you picked for them, but whoever did did a horrible job.

Only concern I have is I'v been hearing that Ciron is not gonna be quite the player most people think he is. I like the Norwood pick, but am wondering if Calloway wouldn't be the better choice with our 1st 3rd with what I am hearing about Ciron

ie: slow, not well conditioned, underperformer

I like Norwood, but see OLB as less of a early need with Wimbley improving and the addition of Roth (pending he resigns with us)

Got a question though if any can help:

Does Ciron Black look to be a better prospect at G with his lack of quickness to handle speed rushers?

If he does, I wouldn't mind both Calloway and Black with our 3rd rounders.

I semi-agree with Poz. It's not a great Bills draft, however I'm not against the pick of Bryant if Anthony Davis is gone, but there is no reason to take Bryant if Davis is there. Bryant is a last resort BPA if we are stuck at #9 with no one of value in an area of need.

In the second, while I agree with Poz that Bowman/Norwood and Corey Wooten (assuming we go 3-4) are better picks, and personally I would take Jermaine Gresham there, the value would be too much for me to pass up.

13) SAN FRANCISCO FORTYNINERS - Anthony Davis, OT, Rutgers

17) SAN FRANCISCO FORTYNINERS - Earl Thomas, S, Texas

49) SAN FRANCISCO FORTYNINERS - Cam Thomas, NT, North Carolina

79) SAN FRANCISCO FORTYNINERS - Mike Neal, DE, Purdue

Although it would be difficult to formulate a better First Round, picks #3 and #4 are quite questionable.

Cam Thomas and Mike Neal are both tremendous talents and would fit Greg Manuskey's 3-4 attack very well, however, the 49ers front three are VERY deep and it would be truly surprising if they addressed depth so early.

3-4 NT - Aubrayo Franklin is easily one of the more underrated players in the NFL and the 49ers have already publicly stated that they will Franchise their NT if they're unable to extend his contract long-term. Isaac Sopoaga has been a great cog in the middle when asked to fill in for Franklin. Kentwan Balmer is capable of manning the NT slot as well. They also have 1st year player Khalif Mitchell on their practice squad.

3-4 DE - Justin Smith and Isaac Sopoaga are one of the best 3-4 DE tandems in the entire NFL. Behind them you have a former First Round selection(Kentwan Balmer) that has all the potential in the world but has yet to see much action because of the performance of Sopoaga. Ray McDonald has been tremendous off the snap while playing in 3rd down packages (difficult for him to see action as Justin Smith's replacement at RDE) and the 49ers have yet to see what they have in enigmatic 1st year player Ricky Jean-Francois.

I could see Cam Thomas as a possibility but I highly doubt they would address BOTH DT positions that early.

They would likely target an explosive return man in exchange for one of those selections.
