Actually ND has had 2 commits this week.

And let's wait 4-5 years to see if Prestwood and Lynch amount to anything. The track record of kids who have committed to ND then went elsewhere hasn't been stellar as of late.
As a physical specimen Aaron Lynch is a straight up freak and is expected to get up to 285-290 when at FSU. I'll be surprised if Rivals and ESPN don't join scout with giving him a fifth star. As for Prestwood I have faith in anyone Rick Trickett likes.

That was my point, so I'm not all up in arms that they decommited from ND and went to state U. Kinda shady how Lynch did his (a text message? C'mon.), but once they decommit from ND, all I have to say is "bye". I was just pointing out to you that the overall careers of guys who committed to ND, then changed their mind and went elsewhere isn't great as of late. You might get a solid player or a good backup, but there haven't been many, if any, stud players. Just something to consider.

Well, to be fair, the careers of players that commit to ND and stick hasn't really gone all that great either (for the most part). So, it's really not a point worth making in general.

Apparently Alabama is getting in Jacoby Brissett late to try and help with Nick O'Leary. Rumor I heard is that they told him he can play both football and basketball for them. Maybe it's me, but I don't really see Nick Saban letting that happen with a QB.

Well one player Butch Davis could have coached up out of the ACC, congrats Notre Dame! Been a while since someone has committed hasn't it, lately it's been players decommitting to go to Florida State (Aaron Lynch, Jordan Prestwood).

I like what Brian Kelly said on recruiting:

“There are plenty of great players out there. We are not going to lose sight of the fact that we’re going to develop our players, and we want guys here who want to be here,” Kelly said. “We are not going to beg anybody to come play at Notre Dame.”

Here's a slideshow countdown of the top 100 recruits from no. 100 to no. 1:

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/535758-college-football-recruiting-2011-the-top-100-commitments

Noteworthy are the higher than normal number of Stanford & Clemson recruits, a testament to the respective recruting skills of Jim Harbaugh & Dabo Swinney.

Alabama is allegedly neck in neck with Texas, the Horns have the most recruits from the ESPN top 150. They had a top 5 recruiting class last yr too, & didn't bowl qualify with a 5-7 rcd. this yr, that's got to be on Mack Brown their coaches.

The Crimson Tide cleaned up on in-state talent in the early recruiting seasonas expected (projected eventual starters in bold), with WR Marvin Shinn (6-4, 180)

http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/recruiting/player?id=94359&_slug_=marvin-shinn&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2fcol lege-football%2frecruiting%2fplayer%3fid%3d94359%26_slu g_%3dmarvin-shinn

from the Vigor HS Wolfpack in Prichard, a suburb of Mobile, & another LB Brent Calloway, #12-ranked in the country,

http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/recruiting/player-Brent-Calloway-97611

of Russellville, AL.

Ex-Kent St. CB Saban emphasizes the secondary above all & loves to personally cherrypick DBs -- he got the top-ranked safety per Scout.com in Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix of Orlando in April, beating out FSU. HC-D is expected to play corner at the next level.

As reported earlier LB Trey DePriest of Springfield, OH is a top 10 LB Saban stole from under the Buckeyes' noses.

Yea, and it's a bigger deal for us to miss on him because he's instate. But everything I've heard and read, he should never set foot on the offensive side of the ball. And if he's to play defense (DE/LB/S), he needs to learn a lot about football.

But regardless, hard not to choose Oregon after this season. I hope the kid turns out to be a stud because he definitely has freakish measurables at this point.

Are you kidding? Calm down, your class will be good. It probably won't be in the top 20 of the past five years though. Florida is going to make a huge hire and your going to see the same thing that happens to any big school when a new coach comes in. Guys who were never are on Florida's radar are going to commit and guys we thought rock solid will leave. But don't act like suddenly you can get anyone you want because the other big FL schools are down.

If it's Stoops then recruiting should stay the same but you'll never win another BCS game.

FSU currently sits with the #3/4 class between ESPN/Rivals and are a mere 1 point behind OU on Rivals, so lets say consensus #3 class right now. This is with the following players LIKELY to commit to FSU.....

5* LB Tony Steward
#1 TE Nick O'Leary
4* QB Jacoby Brissett (back to FSU in a big way now from what I was told)
4* WR Kelvin Benjamin
#1 Juco DE Tank Carradine
#1 Juco OL Jacob Fahrenkrug

And possibly from 4/5* DT Tim Jernigan, 4* CB Nick Waisome and 3* ATH Pop Saunders.

That would be a total of 14-16 of the ESPNU 150. That is an epic class by any measure. As for Rivals rankings, FSU would have three 5*'s and I believe 8/10 of the top players in Florida.

Not true, some recruits go on visits to recruit for other schools. In 2008 when FSU was recruiting Julio Jones they didn't let one of his teammates join him because he had been recruiting for other schools. Clowney is currently recruiting for SC, fortunately there are no other real overlapping recruits between FSU and SC besides maybe Erinn Joe, but I am 99% sure FSU dropped him from their recruiting list.

With Meyer coaching through the bowl game Will Muschamp can't recruit for Florida. So if he's contacting kids he's breaking NCAA rules.

Tank Carradine is awesome.

Cornelius "Tank" Carradine will be committing to Florida State on Wednesday, and he will not be missed by the Ohio State staff after the stunt he pulled this weekend.

Carradine, a Junior College recruit, was scheduled to officially visit Ohio State this weekend but did not make it to Columbus. Carradine took the flight as planned, but instead of traveling to Columbus for his official visit, he used the opportunity to go home to Cincinnati to see his mother. He essentially used Ohio State's interest in him to bum a free plane trip home.

He's the scout.com #2-ranked RB & #1-ranked overall recruit on some lists. He's on the Alabama short list as Richardson's eventual replacement, allegedly has Bama on his own short list. Columbus is right on the Alabama state line & has a long history of sending players there.

New York may not have wanted to see Drew leave, either. At one point during his trip, Drew witnessed a man digging through the trash. Drew asked him if he was hungry, to which the man replied yes. So Drew took him inside a sandwich shop and bought him a sub and chips.

"I couldn't just pass him by. He was a human being who was digging through trash for his dinner," Drew said. "He just wanted to eat so I was happy to help him. I might be broke if I lived here because I'd want to help them all."

LSU's people seem pretty confident on Shazier, but it's interesting because earlier it was OSU/UF and I know Momma Shazier loves Tressel and Papa Shazier didn't go the LSU with Ryan, and he spent only a day at LSU and a few days in Columbus. Still lacking LBs and DTs, though. Kellen Jones is a nice player who could end up being a two-year starter. Desmond Morgan is probably a career backup who might start one year. I still refuse to believe that Jim Tressel's going to lose an in-state recruit to a middling Big 10 school.

I think Doran Grant is a big time OSU lean. MSU would be a fallback plan if academic issues fall through, but I think those chances are slim and none. I could be wrong, he might change his mind, whatever, but there seems to be a lot of people in the same camp as I am about Grant and have been for a long long time. They must have heard something interesting that makes them so extremely confident.

James Wilder and Tampa Plant fell short in the Florida class 5A state championship last night, losing to St. Thomas Aquinas 29-7. He had 21 carries for 72 yards and a TD running behind a terrible offensive line.

FSU commit Rashad Greene had 6 catches for 148 and 2 TDs.

I didn't catch the whole game, but from what I've read Philip Dorsett had the dropsies last night. He dropped two touchdowns I believe.

Missouri has done it again... Signing CB David Johnson of Spring, Texas today. He has no Rivals page and is not ranked by any internet recruiting outlet. Missouri does this every couple of years. Most recently it was 2008 recruit Michael Egnew of Plainview, Texas. Egnew was a Mackey award finalist this year and AP first team all American at TE as a RS SOPH. In 2006 it was Danario Alexander of Marlin, TX, Bilitnekoff finalist and First team all American as a senior that now plays for the St. Louis Rams. Both players ended the process with 2-star ratings by Rivals... So just remember the name David Johnson, future 1rst team all-american and Thorpe award finalist.

Never said that, but they have hit some serious home-runs lately... Considering Mizzou has had one 5-star recruit in their history, they have needed to. It is just strange to me that the last 2 players that Pinkel and company have done this with went on to become two of the best players in program history. Devonta ran for almost 700 yards in the last two games. He should be a five star, or high four star at the very least. And he has also signed is EE papers.

Pretty sweet recruiting weekend for Iowa.

Kirby sounds like he has some issues.

WR Jacob Hillyer (unranked) from Texas, Tom Lemming supposedly reporting that Illinois RB Mikail McCall is going to commit to Iowa, oh and possibly this...

http://illinois.247sports.com/Article/Coe-to-Iowa-soon-8847

"I'm pretty much down to Kansas, Illinois and Iowa," Coe said. "I've been to them all and have had them all in the house here. I'd most definitely say that Iowa is the leader right now. I actually tried to call Coach (Eric) Johnson from there a little less than a week ago to commit. I didn't get through to him and wasn't able to take his call when he called me back. There's a good chance I'll end up committing to Iowa in the next day or two. It will definitely be before the end of the month."

The Hawkeyes coaching stability and comfort level Coe felt in Iowa City have made them the team to beat. "Everything was just perfect with Iowa. The coaching staff has all been there a long time. I was around a lot of the other players during my visit and it seems like we'll have a good class coming in. I also think I've got a good chance of playing time there if I go and work hard and do what I can do."

Although he's a little under two months from officially signing his paperwork, Coe says he feels like he's already part of the Hawkeye program. "After meeting everyone on my visit and feeling comfortable there like I do, I kind of feel like I'm already there. It just feels right. I also need to go somewhere that will help me to get where I want to be and that's to the next level."

do you think he eventually gets moved to lb ?

Unless we bring in some stud RBs over the next 2 years, doubtful. We are looking into going into next season with possibly Adam Robinson as a RS Jr., Marcus Coker as a true soph, and Deandre Johnson who hasn't played since junior year of HS (besides practicing this season) as a RS freshman. After that, it's all walk ons. Plus, Iowa tends to go with either big bruising backs, or undersized quick backs. The only think that doesn't look promising for him early is that Coker is very similar to him, and Robinson is in between but more of a bigger back then a quick back.

I would guess he redshirts in 11 unless RObinson doesn't return, and if he was going to switch, I'd say it would be after his RS frosh year in 12. Not out of the question, but I'd say he's safe as a RB right now. Usually, whatever position Iowa recruits you at, they will at least give you 1.5-2 years there before making a change, so he will get a shot.

Supposedly Rudock wants to be pre-med, which is awesome for us because of our hospitals. What's Miami like for pre-med?

UM has one of the best medical schools in the country. I REALLY hope we can do better than Rudock though.

What are you talking about? It's great to be a Miami fan right now. Join the Golden train or get hit.
Yeah, losing out on local recruits to Louisville is always a good start for coach's tenure.

You can all aspire to be as awesome off the field as Boubacar Cissoko. DJK is Cissoko's apprentice.

You will like this. MSU fans are all over Iowa boards proclaiming how Dantonio doesn't play recruiting games, and once a kid verbals he takes it as final and if he wants to look around then he broke his word and doesn't fit at MSU.

Funny, how when it happens with an MSU commit it's a travesty and Dantonio is just a good person that believes in committment, but when it's another school's commit (cough cough David Barent) he has absolutely no problem with the kid doing the same thing because the kid just wants to make sure he's 100% and make the right choice, which is completely different.

UM has one of the best medical schools in the country. I REALLY hope we can do better than Rudock though.

Excellent, both teams win. Please inform Mr. Golden, sir.

I wonder if Lawrence Thomas' scholarship gets "pulled" if he decides to take a visit elsewhere.

Yep Teddy and Eli to Louisville. Apparently Teddy really wanted to play with his boys. :/

I don't care about Eli but Bridgewater hurts.

Isn't he a spread QB? Plus, the 'Canes are at a point where they need people that want to play for the U.

Bridgewater apparently wanted to play for Shannon. So yeah, not too fussed.

So 4* Dondi Kirby from PA chooses Illinois, and it's thought that teammate Armstead Williams would be coming along where ever the school was. Would be huge gets for the Zooker.

Iowa fans are being pretty ridiculous in claiming the kid is a thug and "we don't want him" because his facebook is full of what can barely be considered english (which is a whole different issue that is just hilarious in itself).

That said, supposedly he told Illinois/some players after his visit to Illinois last week that he was choosing Illinois and just wanted to take his free visit(s). I would do the same thing, but it's pretty classless when you do so and then just talk **** about the place while your there. Oh well, that's 17/18 year olds for you.
