Who're the guys you think would just be oh so perfect to round out your teams draft?

Mine:

1: Greg Hardy (DE/OLB, Ole Miss) - My favorite DE prospect. Will push and pass Gholston, and give the Jets a real pass rusher. As for the doubts about him as a LB, I don't have them. He's a really versatile player, and his athleticism is obvious when he's healthy. Even when he's not healthy it's obvious...

2: Vince Oghobaase (DE/DT, Duke) - Will have to have a nice combine to not look like a reach, but I'm on the wagon. One of my favorite fits for the Jets D in this draft. Ideal 3-4 DE skillset. I say Arthur Jones reminds me of Ty Warren, but Oghobaase might be closer because he's bigger.

5: Stephan Virgi (CB, VT)l - Really underrated. I like VT DBs. Kam Chancellor would be very welcome, but we don't have a 3rd or a 4th.

6: David Gettis (WR, Baylor) - Solid developmental WR prospect. Shay Hodge from Ole Miss can replace him if you think he's better than a 6th.

7: Joe Thomas (OL, Pitt) - Good player who can add to our young OL depth.

Wow, if y'all got this, that'd be some scary ****. Admittedly there are some questions surrounding a few of those but on pure talent/potential alone, this would probably be the best draft class period.

Probably long shots, ok certainly long shots, on some of the picks. It's just tough to gauge value pre-combine and this early.

Vikings
Dream Dream Draft
1. Jimmy Clausen - QB for the future, who could start in the case Favre Retires

2. Kyle Wilson - Need CB help with Griffen blowing out his knee and Winfield on the downside.

3. Nate Allen - Need a safety desperately.

4. Ciron Black - As a RG he has potential, which is #1 to me from round 4 onwards.

5. Myron Rolle - Smart player, good character and a nice fit in our cover 2. Doubt he falls this far though. Hence Dream, Dream draft.

6. Jimmy Graham - Shiancoe is getting on, a good replacement, especially as a redzone target which is where Shiancoe does most of his work.

7. Stafon Johnson - A solid back with starter potential who can hopefully replace Chester if we don't keep him.

Alternatively I would love to get Earl Thomas or Eric Berry if one of them somehow was there at our first pick. In which case I would probably take Juice Williams in the 7th as a long shot developmental guy and would probably go for one of the project LTs(Capers or Brown look solid) as a guy to hopefully replace McKinnie in a year or 2.

descendency
02-08-2010, 12:53 AM
1. Brandon Graham - Best pass rusher in the draft in my opinion. Can play the run. Has played linebacker in the past. Will have lots of potential in the Bill Belichick system.

2a. Maurkice Pouncey - Stephen Neal and Dan Koppen are both hurt a lot and could be gone soon. A RG/C is almost never this valuable, but this team is built to win now not later. Fill the holes and move on.

2b. Ed Dickson - Ben Watson is going bye bye soon. Chris Baker is not a #1 TE. Ed Dickson will give the patriots something it has lacked for a few years, a TE threat.

2c. Jared Veldheer - "Bookend Tackles" are a marker for a successful franchise. When you can neutralize threats off the edge, you can beat those elite teams. If you can't, you get to listen to Colts fans for a month.

4. Myron Rolle - Safety is one of the smallest needs on the team, so I wonder if this is a smart pick. He will be the kind of guy that can learn the system and won't make too many mistakes. I think he'll probably go higher, but I don't think the Patriots can afford to pass on a talent like him.

6. Jonathan Crompton - I was talking about him as an improved player. He won't be available here, but I want to continue pushing his name. He's got the tools. Can he put it together?

7. BPA - duh?

edit: If I could trade, I'd probably trade next years 3rd rounder and this years 4th for a high third round pick so I could take Alex Carrington, if around. The Patriots need to get physical again, with a capital F.

What skillsets does a 3-4 defensive end have?

Tall (6'5), heavy (310+), long arms, strong upper body, strong against the run, eats up blockers, beats single blocks, and gets a natural pass rush due to all those things adding up.

Basically what a prototypical 4-3 DT would be, except on the outside of a 3 man line.

1 - Jimmy Clausen - QB - Notre Dame
2 - Charles Brown - OT - USC
4 - AJ Edds - LB - Iowa
5 - Matt Tennant - C - Boston College
6 - Joique Bell - RB - Wayne State
7 - Akwasi Owusu-Ansah - CB - Indiana (PA)

If Shanahan wants to use the draft to rebuild the OL then this is how I hope he does it:

1 - Russell Okung - OT - Oklahoma State
2 - Vladimir Ducasse - OT - Massachusetts
4 - John Jerry - OG - Ole Miss
5 - Matt Tennant - C - Boston College
6 - Joique Bell - RB - Wayne State
7 - Akwasi Owusu-Ansah - CB - Indiana (PA)

Ive seen a few people say George Selvie in the 4th round. Do you guys really see him lasting that long? I thought he would go in the 2nd-3rd with his good senior bowl week no?

The only thing stopping me from listing Graham in my sig is his height & length, but I really like him best at OLB for NE. In the interest of not retyping my sig I will go a different route:

1. Brandon Graham
2. Brandon Spikes
2. Maurkice Pouncey
2. Aaron Hernandez
4. LeGarrette Blount

I don't know any players well enough to even begin to guess at 6th and 7th round picks. :D

Ok. How come Glenn Dorsey doesn't work in the 3-4 with the Chiefs?

Where does this myth come from? He may not be a star(not yet anyway) but he was pretty damn solid for them at DE. I certainly think he will be a pretty damn good one, 3-4 DE is the ultimate stats don't tell the story position, it is a glory free position where if you do your job properly, someone else should be making the play.
