The Cardinals have tagged him twice. Tagging him again, would force them to pay him in the top 5 players in the league. Thats Manning money, and Arizona can not afford that.

Pretty much this, doubtful he gets tagged again. Out of those four I think the Giants and Miami are the most likely, kind of feel he mentioned the Redskins to drive up the price ;)

not really, as big as Dansby is, he isnt much of a thumper and doesnt take on blockers well. He actually plays better in space and is more of a finesse and athletic guy.

Last year, before he got slapped the tag, by Arizona. He wanted to join the G-men. It will be a circus of an offseason, with this man.

He turns 29 in November, he still has 3-4 good years in front of him.

Agreed, which is why I think they he would fit well with the Giants. He can do what Pierce has struggled with the last few seasons, matchup with RBs and TEs in space and make plays outside of the tackles.

What did he do?
Basically, the Eagles were in need of a WR, so he went on a radio show and made a bunch of comments about how he was extremely interested in the Eagles. A few days after finding this out, the Eagles find out that TJ was asking for more money with them than he was with other teams, or something along those lines. I'm trying to find a link.

His next tag has to be the the average of the top 5 players in the nfl. Probably 15-20 million, depending on what happens with the Manning, Brees and Brady contracts. Doubt the Cardinals pay him that much for one year and the fact that they haven't come to long term deal over the last two years makes me think he wants to test free agency.

No. This would have to be his third tag in a row. The rules are top 5 in the league if that happens.

Don't see him going to Baltimore. Just not enough of a need for us to sign him to a big deal which could hinder our ability to re-sign guys like Ngata and Gaither in the future if a cap comes back. We've got plenty of LB's anyways.

I agree! If it's an uncapped year I don't want teams all bidding and inflating the price for avg to above avg players. We already have Canty who we gave a lot of money to and he was battling injuries all year. Dansby isn't that young, and I don't want us over paying him. I'd rather build through the draft and let some other team over pay for him.

I don't really like him on the Ravens I mean sure it would get there defense back to elite but they already have linebackers for the most part. Giants would be my guess and a darkhorse Miami.

I'd love to have him on the Giants but I doubt it we already signed an FA LB in Boley last year, not to mention the ****** signing of Rocky Bernard and the overpaying of Chris Canty.
gonzo1105
02-15-2010, 12:36 AM
He's way overrated for the amount that he is going to get in FA. He is not a LB you should spend big money on. He is a good player in the NFL but he will get a great players money and someone will regret it after a couple years paying him that big amount of money. He is athletic and runs well side to side but he is not a guy who gets off blocks well.

I'm guessing Dansby wants mountains of money, since he's been negotiating with the Cards for two years straight now, and I don't think the Cards would be reluctant to sign him.
god hed be soooo sick in washington. with our transition to a hybrid 3-4 defense he would be a staple inside with mcintosh for a long while. i love fletcher as much as anyone but at 35 next year you cant assume hell be around much longer. good to know we have a chance. if haslett wants him, snyder will get him. as long as its haslett that wants him.

from what we know, its likely to be a hybrid 3-4 with a mix of formations including some 4-3 looks as well. haynesworth has already come out and said hes happy to play either scheme as DE or NT. well see i guess.

Could of changed his tune, but before he left the Titans he said multiple times he hated the idea of playing in a 3-4 and if he left it was going to be to a team that ran the same style scheme as Jim Schwartz. My guess if you win you won't hear a peep out of him, but if you lose he will be complaining like he was at the end of last year. He would be a great 3-4 tackle or DE if he stays disciplined.

If we do get him, I hope it doesn't alter our plans. Like, it shouldn't stop us from going after a MIKE if 1 is available with one of our picks.
Bc you can always move him to SAM and Sintim to full time DE.
So signing Dansby, then getting Dan Williams + Brandon Spikes in the draft, while moving Sintim to full time DE would = epic win in my eyes.

Having two mobile LBs isn't a bad thing, especially if they adopt more of a cover 2 system with Fewell (not sure if they will yet). I don't think Dansby is the ideal fit as a 4-3 MLB but he is an upgrade over what they have at the moment.

I'd still like to add a good LB, but it moves the position clearly behind DT and S in my opinion if we add Dansby. If we address DS and S in rounds one and two and someone like Daryl Washington falls to the third round sure I'd love to add him.

What makes you say that?Playing an OLB at DE. The only DE that can play the run well on that roster is Tuck. IMO, LBers are useless if the d-line can not hold up at the point of attack, and with teams running on the outside of the right side, I don't think Spikes is that type of guy who can go sideline to sideline in the NFL.
Plus, doesn't the Cover 2 require fast LBers? I don't see Spikes as a Cover 2 MLB.

Precisely, Cardinals should tag him as a franchise player. Dansby is a versatile LB who can play all positions in 3-4 and 4-3 schemes. Many teams will want him. Cardinals can get 2 decent picks out of him easily.
Also, final 4 teams (uncapped season rule) can make a trade for him.

Sintim isn't a true OLB. He was a rushbacker in college. He has the size and the leverage to play the run very well. He's a Woodley type of player.
He can easily move to DE if he wants. He's close to 260 anyway and plays with great leverage, he's already shown he's going to be a good run stuffer for us during his limited snaps.
We have no idea what system Fewell is going to run just yet. It sounds like he won't run Tampa 2, but chances are he will. But if he doesnt, if he keeps the same scheme we had under Spags, Spikes would be a perfect compliment in the middle in that scheme.
Kiwi is also very good against the run. He just lacks as a pass rusher. The only DE we have that doesn't play the run is Osi, and he came off injury. Osi usually plays the run pretty well, but after his injury, looked terrible vs the run last year.

Severe, severe misconception. The Colts can only play the run if they have one of two things: a healthy Bob Sanders or a lead.

They've allowed less than 1900 yards rushing on them in a season just three times in the last ten years.
They've allowed over 2000 yards rushing against them five times in ten years.
The year they won the Superbowl, they gave up 2700 yards rushing. That is just disgusting.
