Eh, it's possible. Interesting for him to go to a rival like that.

Peyton/Marvin/Reggie will get to light him up twice a year now.

Why would this mean the end of him? It was well known that we were looking to add a CB way before all the stuff with Adam Jones came up.

We were looking at CB's anyway, not a surprise at ALL, CB was one of the biggest needs in terms of free agency.

Yeah, I'm not sure this signals an end to Pacman. They add depth at a key position. I think, if anything, this is a move aimed at giving them better flexibility with their decision making in the draft. It seems possible that Houston/Hall may be off the board, and it's questionable if any other CB is of value in the top 20.

Well they needed CB depth before the Pacman troubles, so its not that surprising, and I dont see the need to jump to conclusions.

This hardly means anything for Pacman since the Titans needed a second CB anyway.

They needed a CB opposite of Pac-Man. Don't see why this would signal the end of Jones.

It's still not really the end of him, it could be, but they need a CB besides Jones.

Good pick up regardless if Pacman is held onto or not

I highly doubt the signing of a 32 yr old corner spells the end of pac-man. I'm going to miss Nick "The Pick" Harper. He was our most consistent DB by far. It's going to be a shame to watch Reggie and Marvin light them up for TD's. The time has now come for Hayden, Jackson, David and Jennings to man up. They are the future.

If Pacman gets in trouble one more time in the next year, be it big or small, they should kick his ass straight to the curb.

Fisher needs to sit him down, tell him how it's going to go down, and make sure Pacman knows this is it. Pacman then needs to man up and decide that his life isn't worth pissing away just so he can be a "gangsta".

yea I dont think this signing has anything to do with Pac-Man. Im not sure what they are gonna do with Pac-Man because there is obviously a tough decision to be made on what to do that front, but either way they still had a need at CB. I wonder how well Harper will do not being in the cover 2, but he should be a solid addition and its not as if they paid a lot for him. If the Titans do decide to get rid of Pac-Man, they would need to adress CB early in the draft.

Harper doesn't spell the end for Pac Man. Either way you look at it Pac Man can play, if he gets his head screwed on he has the ability to dominate.

If the Titans were going to release Jones, it probably would have happened by now.

The fact is, he's the best overall player the Titans have at the moment. Without Jones, they would have been no better than 4-12 last year....possibly worse.

Even with the latest incidents, I will be shocked if he's not in a Titans uniform next year. As much of an idiot as the kid is, he's absolutely indispensible on the field....downright irreplaceable. He's more than just a good player....he wins games. Trust me, Jeff Fisher knows all too well the value of character on a football team....but he also knows that, at the end of the day, his job is to field a winning team. Adam Jones wins games...and Jeff Fisher is going to give him every chance in the world to get his head on straight before writing him off completely. (And you can be sure the Titans won't cut him outright.....too many teams would love to have a player of Jones' caliber, issues or not.)

I wouldn't read anything at all into the Harper signing. The Titans are always looking for good cornerbacks....always. This is hardly a coup for the Titans, but it's a piece of the puzzle. Even at 33 years old, Harper should be a wholesale upgrade over Reynaldo Hill, who struggles badly in man coverage.

If anyone is looking for a hidden meaning to this, then this signing allows the Titans to hand Jones a lengthy suspension and still field a competitive secondary....something they were unable to do last year. Harper's not a long-term answer...heck, he's got maybe 2-3 years left in him. But if he can get them through this volatile period, then he'll have served his purpose.

I just can't wait to see Harper in one of those

I guess that's why football is a 11 v 11 game. Seriously, there are very, very few CB's in NFL history that could have kept up with that 1 on 1. In a game environment you have safety help and underneath help by LB's.

Nick Harper is really old considering he's only been in the league since 2001. I don't think he's the #1 CB in Tennesee. I think he was just added for depth.

He needs to keep his nose clean, if he could stay out of trouble he could still possibly have a job with the Titans. If he is released the Redskins or the Vikings would over pay for him.

WOW, what a move.

Marvin Harrison = STILL the best route runner in the NFL

Are you talking about Jones? Childress specifically stays away from the problem players.

I definitely don't think this means Pacman is on his way out, but keep in mind the Titans are in a very good position to have a shot at one of the top corners in the draft with good value at #19. With Harper and a guy like Revis, Houston, or Ross (and they might even have a small shot at Leon Hall) I think Pacman becomes expendable. However, even with all his problems, I don't think they just let him walk, so it really comes down to what teams are prepared to offer. Definitely something to keep an eye on.

Excellent move by the Titans. Gives them a starting cornerback opposite Pac-man, which wasn't always the case in 2006, but more importantly a veteran at the position who can help tutor/guide the young cornerbacks they will bring in in the next few years (Pac-man's time with the Titans is growing shorter by the minute).

Titans | Harper contract update
Wed, 14 Mar 2007 07:39:28 -0700
Jim Wyatt, of the Tennessean (http://www.kffl.com/link/136), reports the Tennessee Titans (http://www.kffl.com/team/36/nfl) agreed to terms with free agent CB Nick Harper (http://www.kffl.com/player/824/nfl) (Colts) on a three-year contract believed to be worth $9 million and $10 million and includes roughly $3 million in guarantees.

I think it's supposed to say "between $9 and $10 million"
