View Full Version : Eric Decker is a Nerd

V.I.P

Minnesota WR Eric Decker reportedly had the best Wonderlic score of any player at February's Combine, getting 43-of-50 questions correct.
Decker couldn't run coming off Lisfranc surgery, so he tore up the written test instead. While intelligence won't suddenly make him healthy or a better prospect, he at least managed to capitalize on what he was able to do.

Eric Decker in the 4th = greatest steal in draft history. :D

I love Eric Decker. One of my favorite receiver prospects in this draft. I think he'll make a hell of a #2 receiver and be an absolute steal in the 3rd Round. Might be moving him ahead of Brandon LaFell on my board, thoguh I think the LSU product will be drafted earlier.

High wonderlic + WR = nice, but not a big deal.

Decker should have been a QB in Pop Warner.

So he's a nerd because he had 86% of accuracy in a test that's fairly easy?

When compared to his peers, yes. But in a good way.

This is the type of guy I would want on my team.

No...you must not get him. I simply could not stand to cheer for the Saints so soon.

I would imagine that 43 is an above average score no matter who you are.

Did a little research and ESPN had a nice write up about it. Here are the averages for some other professions.

Programmer: 29
Newswriter: 26

Yeah, people underrate the difficulty of the wonderlic because they take the stupid sample online ones and think it's cake. It's like the dumbasses who take those stupid online IQ tests, score a 120 on them and think they really are a ******* genius.

The structure of the wonderlic is that it gets harder as you get closer to the end, which is why most guys don't even finish it. I'd guarantee that MAYBE a handful of people on here score in the high 30s/low 40s.

He went to a rival high school of mine 10 miles away. When we played against him in high school we ******* hated that guy because he kicked our ass in every sport he played. And now, he is the pride of Central Minnesota!

I'd be disappointed to not score in the 30s at the very minimum but I'm also smarter than the average bear ;).

Can't believe that no one else picked up on this one... Oh the irony of calling someone else a dumbass...

Honestly, who gets 120 and boasts about it? Every IQ test I have ever done if you can't get 120 on it you probably don't have a fully functional brain and I have never done an official IQ test, but I've done TV, online and the like and really, what can you put in the real official tests that is so different to those that would make it that much harder? Surely all those are at least based on the real deal.

The TV and online ones aren't really accurate for a couple of reasons. They don't usually take time into account, which is a huge factor in the real test. And secondly, IQ is an example of a classic statistical problem - accounting for all possible variables of a system by a certain scale. Unfortunately for psychologists everywhere, the methods currently involved in converting intelligence to a metric are very inaccurate.

All tests in general that appear on the Internet and the magazines are totally useless. The reason is that making a reliable test of any kind is very expensive, and requires a lot of expertise. The one's that are semi-reliable have copyright, so they won't show up in the Internet or magazines.

Anybody who can read and has a pulse will easily score over 100 on these things - not really accurate considering that 100 is the "average" score and the majority of people score between a 90-110. If you're smart and take a bunch of online ones, you'll score anywhere from 135-190, which is complete and utter ******** considering that "genius" is anything above 140.

Just a correction, genius status is achieved at 130, not 140. Retardation is 70 or lower.
