RT @mortreport: Filed to ESPN: Tim Tebow invited to New York for draft .
from Schefters Wiki.

This might be very painful and the longest anyone ever stayed in the green room. Thoughts?

Personally, if i was Tebow, i wouldnt go.

He should go on Friday or Saturday since he won't be going 1st round.

I thought they didn't want players waiting. I guess more money and publicity on Thursday, for the NFL.

That would be kind of funny, in a scadenfreude way, if Tebow ends up sitting there until the 3rd or 4th round before a team calls his name.

Yea he might be there for more than a day. Might be the first player that ever happened to.

This has some potential to be very funny. I bet he goes. The limelight likes him and he certainly doesn't mind it.

What an awkward idea. If he's smart he'll decline.

Tebow won't make it out of Friday. If his improved motion impressed 1 scout, he might go on thursday.

Just remember, Michael Mitchell was a 7th round prospect for most scouts, but the Raiders and Bears had him in the second round. It only takes 1 team.

Keep in mind that the league was talking about bringing in second rounders this year as well, for the Friday night primetime show. There is no way Tebow falls out of the second round.

I think if he goes he thinks the publicity might actually make him get picked earlier, at least he's being talked about.

Phillysteeler
03-17-2010, 02:57 PM
I didn't know they were thinking of bringing in second rounders. If that is what they are bringing him for then it makes a lot more sense.

Agreed. Im guessing Tebow goes higher than McCoy who also was rumoured to be invited.

it's not out of the realm of possibility he goes mid first by a team like the jags trading down or something

Hmmm, candidate for greatest college player of all time, outstanding combine, and a fantastic pro day (today) and the haters are still predicting 3rd and 4th round. Fortunately, the coaches and scouts doesn't listen to folks like you, he'll be going 1st or 2nd round.

Probably not. There are simply too many teams who still can't draft with any semblance of logic. Tebow's overdrafting will demonstrate that this year.

his pro day might have gone well (the drills are very orchestrated so not very telling, and reports are very uneven) but he did not do squat at the combine, I'm sorry. Didn't run real fast, didn't throw... Great college player oh yes.

Second rounder: yeah.

Well he is going in the top 5 so i don't see why he shouldn't be invited.

would the mom require a seperate draft pick or is she package.

I don't thik Tebow will attend. I'm calling it right now: he'd rather stay at home and watch it with his family, cause they're so close. Everyone will keep gushing about it they'll give him a phone and it'll be just like Joe Thomas getting the call on some boat where he was fishing with his dad, except overexposed and sugarcoated.

Honest. You can quote me on this.

ESPN will just be stupid to watch, especially Berman who will be spouting about 'possible trades' for moving up to take Tebow. And he will do it for every pick past #10 all the way till he is chosen....

It is out of the realm of possibility because the Jags are not drafting him in the first round, and hopefully not at all.

I way saying that, too.

However, if they trade down in the first round I think it's almost a guarantee they'll take him.

Don't want it just because of the focus he will get. But if I'm him, I go. I'm sure he has a pretty solid idea of where he's going at this point, and this could be one of his last chances to be relevant for a while. Go for it.

In other words, no longer a big deal.

I think Tebow will start off his NFL career as a wildcat specialist.
That'll allow a team to use his explosive running style, while waiting for his mechanics to tighten up.
Unfortunately for him, he'll be sitting on his rear the whole first round. Maybe even the second round too.

Y'know, I think I'm starting to agree with you. I didn't hate Tim Tebow, but I think after listening to two days of Tebow-Palooza, with cameo by the NFL draft, my heart will be black with spiteful scorn.

He's going first round, I've pretty much convinced myself of that argument. He's too much of a marketing machine and a potential good quarterback to be passed on.

I'm not saying I would take him in the first round, I just don't think that there is any doubt that a team will pull the trigger from early 20s-late first round. Either that or a team will trade up to select him.

It's going to happen.

Second rounder: yeah.
A 4.71 40 with 1.55 and 2.66 10/20 yard splits is outstanding for a player not expected to run fly routes. Along with a 38.5" verticle, 9'7" broad jump shows excellent explosive power. His SS of 4.17 and 3-cone of 6.66 shows great change-of-direction ability. Great athletic numbers.
Of course, I agree with you on the 2nd round. Someone might reach into the late first to get him, though.

Browns one of 5 teams to schedule individual workout with Tebow. We've got 3 3rd rounders so I would think we are definitely interested. Move up to 2nd if necessary.

By the way this is ridiculous.

I haven't watched any coverage from yesterday yet, but it sounds like people are gushing about his revamped mechanics. If he continues to improve through team visits he'll be a late 1st round pick for sure. If the big knocks are a long windup and slow delivery and Tebow fixes those issues to the satisfaction of even a few teams he could very easily be the target of a Tampa Bay / Josh Freeman type of trade up and go mid 1st.

I just hope he doesn't end up in NE. People already hate us enough. :D

I'm also starting to believe again that Tebow will be a first round pick. Yep, he's a gamble, but he could pay off in a big, big way for a team. Besides, the reality is that all first round picks are more of a gamble than we give them credit for. Go back and look at the first round of any Draft from 3 or more years back. Notice how many didn't live up to be the NFL players many thought they would be.
