Because the NFL draft is all about ceilings and not floors.

That's the biggest problem with how people on this site view draft prospects. They look at what a player has done in college and assume that's what he will be his entire NFL career. They assume that "hasn't done yet" means "never will do" and makes them terrified of anybody that isn't either a perfect prospect like a Calvin Johnson or a very, very, very, very safe, high-floor pick.

Guys like Dunlap and JPP haven't even begun to scratch the surface of their potential. They're still kids learning how to play the game, but their physical talents give you a lot to work with and develop.

It's the same thing with quarterbacks on here. We haven't had an Elway or Manning type prospect in quite some time, and the only prospect I can remember that was universally liked (a guy who I hated as a prospect, no less) was Matt Leinart. Why? Because he was "NFL ready." The dude had virtually no upside whatsoever, he was essentially a thicker Ken Dorsey. Yet, everybody thought that he was the frickin bees knees around here.

Who I'll settle for: Terrence Cody. I don't really like him as a prospect and he's a big big risk (literally), but the recent Seattle trade sort of cushions against the likelihood that Cody is a bust. If they hit on him, it will have shored up any concerns in run defense. That's a big IF though.

I want a DT but Price is exactly like Jay Alford except he's slow and has terrible balance. Even though he's always in the backfield, he has bad pursuit. McClain, to me, is a softy. He's huge but doesn't hit and tackles like a cover corner. And we have D-ends.

If you didn't read it, my first series of posts on here was mainly me saying why I wanted Seattle to draft Gerhart at 40, before they moved to 60. Reasoning: there isnt really good value for the players that fit us IMO, Spoon is better suited at OLB but could play any position pretty well, Mcclain isnt an athletic freak but he is a very good QB of the defense and compares well to AP, williams is overrated but has potential to fit the role we need in a run stuffer, davis is underrated and we need more OL depth/future

Price isnt worth #15, and might not even be worth a 1st round pick IMO. We do have Alford who is almost a clone coming off of an ACL, but we need a NT type and always have. He does overshoot quite a bit and doesnt tackle as well as you'd like. He has great potential, but his showing versus Temple scares me.

the whole BPA thing is bull, the giants havent done that so i dont know why people say they always do. I dont oppose players like CJ or JPP, its just that we do have pressing needs and cant afford it.
