View Full Version : NFL Bust Draft

vikes_28
04-02-2010, 09:17 PM
The idea is simple.

Pick 8 players that have (or will) busted.

There will be 2-3 judges.

There will be 8-10 drafters.

*NEW JUDGING CRITERIA*

The judging is a rank 1-5

1 is the biggest bust imaginable
5 is not as big of a bust

The scores will be added up from each judge, and the lowest score wins.

You don't have to write a page for each player, but explain why you think they are a bust. And maybe back it up with a little research.

*NEW JUDGING CRITERIA*

Draft order will be determined depending on how much rep you give me before this starts.

I'd say make a roster like this

QB
RB
WR
OL
DL
LB
DB
Wildcard
Future Player (This is any player that has only played one season or hasn't been drafted yet)

Ready, Set, GO!

Looks like we have enough people. Now I just need some judges. I think since Todd And Vidae posted in here, they should be judges. What do you guys think?

We can start tonight. I just need to make sure I have at least one judge.

Oh, and if one more poster shows up, then we can have him too.

Two judges! And then we are golden!

I could try to explain it but it would be impossible. They are trying to assemble the team of biggest busts. And I may change the rating system. But the lowest score wins.

This Draft is very skewed to the ESPN era of the Draft. There are some really interesting ones if you look back a bit. Here's one for ya: Look at the #2 overall pick in the 1980 Draft. Sounds like he was a sprinter who just couldn't catch the ball. Picked right before the Bengals took Munoz.

Jason Peter, LB

http://i.a.cnn.net/si/2004/football/nfl/09/29/bc.fbn.panthers.peter.s.ap/p1_peter_jason.jpg

After an All-American career at Nebraska, defensive lineman Jason Peter was the Carolina Panthers' first-round draft pick in 1998. But he failed in the NFL, starting just 20 games and leaving the league for good after four seasons.

Now he's written a book that details the drug abuse that derailed his career.

He says he would down 60 Vicodin and 20 sleeping pills with a bottle of vodka. Peter King of SI.com, who read an advance copy of the book, writes:

Vicodin. @mbian. Cocaine. Crack. Heroin. GHB, the date-rape drug. Lots of others I've never heard of. He's not sure if he's been in rehab six or seven times. He's blown most of the $6.5 million Carolina paid him over a disappointing, injury-filled NFL career with the Panthers. Nights and weeks with prostitutes so numerous ... well, so numerous that his Madame at a high-rolling Manhattan brothel ran out of girls for him.

He had an impressive 1.5 Sacks in his career. The next few Defensive Line men picked where Kevin Williams and Terrell Suggs. If you wanted to go defense you still had Polamalu and Nnamdi Asomugha, Rashean Mathis, Osi Umenyiora and Lance briggs. I say they picked the right one

I took Johnathan Sullivan just a few posts before you made these picks.

The Browns wanted to build their team with a great defense. Brown was supposed to be that center piece. He had a productive rookie season but never really had a big impact.

LB Mike Junkin

http://assets.espn.go.com/photo/2008/0410/nfl_8_mikejunkin_400.jpg

The Cleveland Browns are another team who have fallen prey to selecting big busts on draft day. Linebacker Mike Junkin is a prime example of a mistake. Passing up both Rod Woodson and Jerome Brown in the 1987 draft, the Browns suffered two years of lack of production by the injury-prone Junkin. Even worse, Junkin was projected to be a fifth- or sixth-round pick, so Cleveland didn't need to use their first-round pick (5th) on him.

Everyone was the same except for the three people who drafted a WR before I updated the roster. If you would have said something earlier then it wouldn't have happened. I'm not blaming it on you by any means, but I always say, speak now or forever hold your peace. I didn't do it to help myself by any means. Cause I thought I put it on there (since I drafted a WR first...)

Well I didn't speak because I didn't rally have any problem with no WR on the roster. I assumed that people taking WR's were taking them as their wildcard players.

Okay, i have a quick question. Is a guy considered a bust only for the team that drafted him, or is it for his whole career? Like if a guy did jack squat for the team that drafted him, but then went on to have a productive career elsewhere, does that still make him a bust?

I know he was the Super Bowl MVP, but he was never productive as a WR. Howard was the 4th pick in 1992 draft and was one of the most hyped WR's to come out of college football. At the time, he won the Heisman by the greatest margin ever. He only ever scored 7 receiving TD's in his career and had 10 or less catches in 5 of his 9 seasons.

QB Heath Shuler
Picked 3rd overall, he held out and was beaten out by a 7th rounder Gus Frerotte.

RB Archie Griffin
The only 2 time Heisman trophy winner averaged 1 Rushing TD per season he played.

OL Robert Gallery
2nd most hyped OT ever, is an average guard but sucks hard at tackle.

WR Rashaun Woods
Supposed to be the next T.O he had as many career catches as TDs he had in one game in college.

DL Jamal Reynolds
supposed to be a great DT for the Packers, he has 18 career tackles. DTs picked after him: Marcus Stroud, Ryan Pickett, casey Hampton, Kris Jenkins, Shaun rogers.

LB Aundrey Bruce
Widely hyped as the next LT, he had 42 games in 11 seasons. Horrible for a #1 overall.

DB Ahmad Caroll
Offensive Pass Interference caroll will help the opponent more than your team.

Wildcard Larry Stegent

The RB was drafted 8th overall. He has 0 Carries in his career but at least 1 catch of 12 yards in his whole career. he only played 7 games altogether
