View Full Version : What Pick Would Ruin Your Day?

Who's that ONE guy that you absolutely just don't want? I'm talking first round.

I'll say Tim Tebow. There are teams for whom he would make sense, but ughhh, just not good for us.

I suspect a lot of you will say Tebow or Mays...

Tim Tebow, I want nothing to do with him, unless it comes in the third round or later, and even then I would be far from ecstatic. Brian Price would also upset me a lot. Other than that, there's not a whole lot of picks that would really upset me, except maybe a RB like Best in the first or McCluster in the 2nd, but I don't envision that happening.

For the Vikings, unless Jimmy Clausen falls to us at #30, then I wouldn't want the team to take a quarterback. Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow are not 1st round caliber choices, so they don't need to be taken, even if we may need one two years from now.

Others that I really wouldn't like:

Chad Jones S LSU - - The more film I watch on him, the more I don't like him. He's a fantastic athlete by all means but he's a project and a reach at 30 now.

Brian Price DT UCLA - - His stock is tremendously sliding, so I doubt we spend a first on him, but I really wouldn't want the team taking him in any round. Just not a good fit and really wouldn't be able to contribute to the team in a good way.

I'm glad some more Vikings fans are agreeing with me on Price. It used to be that most of the Vikings fans would have loved Price in the 1st, and I kept holding out due to fit. I'm pretty sure we all agree on Tebow, but I wouldn't hate the Colt McCoy pick, depending on whose available. I don't see him falling to us in the 2nd, and he's the last of the QBs in this draft that I want for quite a while, basically until the 5th round or later. He would be far from my favorite pick, but I could take it. I forgot about Patrick Robinson in the first, that one would really piss me off. He isn't worth a first anymore, especially not in the cover 2, where he's not a great fit. Chad Jones in the first would upset me, due to value, but I don't see that one happening, but I'd be quite happy with him in the 2nd.

Would hate to see the Steelers get an OLB.... We have 6 quality LBs now with starters, Foote and Fox. We don't need to adress LB for another couple years until James Harrison is on his very last legs.

Would love to see OL in the first. Preferably a G/C, because I think there's more value at that position where we are in the first rather than a Tackle, as all the best ones are gonna be gone.

Would also be fine with CB, NT or CJ Spiller. Don't really want anything other than those in the first.

Just reading this thread, it seems like no one wants Taylor Mays. At least in the First , which is fair enough. All I know is that if he is there @ 28 when the Bolts are on the clock-I hope we pick him! Still could maybe get Matthews in the early 2nd if he hasn't been snatched up.

I'm actually not anti-Mays personally. I just think we have better options and his value is lower than where my team is picking.

If the guy gets some good coaching there's no reason why he can't be a fine back end safety.

If Seattle passes on Bulaga, Williams or Okung at 6, depending on who's available (Assuming McCoy and Suh are gone) I'm going to be pissed. I'll be fine with CJ Spiller at #14, but not at 6, because that would mean passing on the tackle we desperately need. I don't want Jimmy Clausen period, even if he slips to 14. I don't care about value; I don't want him to be the face of Seattle for the next 5 years, minimum. It'll also be annoying if Pete Carroll pulls something like....trading next year's first and third to grab one of his USC guys at the bottom of the first, like an Everson Griffen or Taylor Mays. He seems like a coach who really likes his own players, and after seeing what he did to get Charlie Whitehurst (that still just....baffles me. I've watched all the tape and read all the news I could find on him, and still just don't see anything worth damaging a draft for) I'm a little worried that he'll try to swing a deal to nab one of his own players, who he may have overvalued. And I ought to clarify; it's not that I don't want Everson Griffen or Taylor Mays, because I think they could both help us. I just don't want Pete Carroll to get carried away trying to bring in his college players.

Good to see you arent getting paranoid on us here. I'm going to give Pete the benefit of the doubt till after the draft. I'm sticking to Bulaga (or Williams), Mays and Gerhart. Good guys, good football players. Next year they bring in Jake and life will be good in Seattle again.

Jimmy Clausen. I just hate that guy and would refuse to root for him, which could be problematic.

Bruce Campbell would definitely make me really nervous, but I really don't think there's much chance of that happening. Similarly JPP, because I'm not sure his amazing talents will translate to the field.

Jason Pierre-Paul or Derrick Morgan for the Jaguars.

It would mean at least one DE is making 1st round pick money for sitting the bench. JPP is a boom/nust type pick and neither are better than Graham anyway.

Good news is Gene Smith doesn;t seem to be too thrilled with either and picks BPA anyway.

Yeah, I don't really see Dunlap being a Fan Favorite for any team in the First. Maybe the Saints if all else failed (all prospects off the Board), but his boom/bust status leaves a lot of questioning.

Speaking of, what exactly was Chris Johnson's Draft stock? I don't really remember -but I thought he was a reach in the 1st. Was he a fringe 1st/2nd, solid 2nd, or even 2nd/3rd?

Most people had CJ in the late 2nd early 3rd. The guy in my sig was the only one who had him going in the first (and to the titans).

With the 30th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft the Minnesota Vikings select: Tim Tebow, QB, Florida Gators!

One of the above to a rival NFC East team.

Any QB pick to lecture Big Ben, Dez Bryant, C.J. Spiller, Ryan Matthews, another DE in the first round.

Not too long ago you guys took an immensely talented defensive lineman who slid down due to character concerns and lack of effort. A little patience and development and he turned into the best defensive lineman in the league.

If there's one thing Fisher knows how to do, it's get the most out of his talent on defense - especially when it comes to developing defensive linemen. If I was a Titans fan, I'd trust they'd be able to make him into a dominant defensive lineman like they did with Big Al and The Freak. It'll just take a little bit of patience.

Tebow to Minnesota.

Yeah, Id love it from a football standpoint... but Id hate it from the standpoint that I could no longer watch sports channels. Tebow + Favre = media cumsplosion.

Mays/Gerhart/any CB/any OT outside of Trent Williams/a reach pick would all ruin my day for the bolts.

The guy in your sig says backflipping could be a new pass-rushing technique.

Maybe he's right too?

"With the fifth pick in the draft, the Kansas City Chiefs select Bruce Campbell, OT, Maryland". Yep, that would definitely ruin my day/week/month/year.

Backflipping is the next generation of pass rush moves.

No it's not. We'll see next year when Robert Quinn starts Shooting Star Pressing over ACC offensive lines.

I would love for us to pick Suh, like for us to pick McCoy, and be fine with us picking Russell Okung. Anyone else would ruin much more than my day.

As far as our second round pick, I would be upset if we picked Carlos Dunlap or Patrick Robinson.

I'd find it hard to get upset over any realistic draft pick. People get so worked up in draft grades, prospect rankings, expert opinions etc they forget every rookie is a potential superstar.

If the Browns took a ******* Offensive Tackle.

Great build through the trenches, awesome. But, a top 10 pick for a RT? Really?! Take Clausen (yes I believe I questioned Clausen worth on here before, I also said that I thought he'd be a star in the real irc room a few months ago. I changed my mind, sue me), Haden, Bryant or Berry is all I am asking. Use one of our three thirds on a RT or RG if you want one.

(I know it has been said that we've taken Bryant off our board. I'm sorry, I don't believe that any jackass High Schooler or jackass newspaper beat writer has ever seen our Big Board)
