If this is true looks like it could be the end of Roethlisberger era in Pittsburgh.

NVM looks like lawyer just wanted some attention.

This is just getting ridiculous. Either he has a legit problem or people are just trying to take advantage of him while they can. I tend to favor the taking advantage of him side.

That would be impossible to verify whether the woman ever made an allegation if she won't want to talk about it. The law office would never give out her name or details that could lead her to be found.

Either a play for attention, or maybe there are legal repercussions of going on a radio show and slandering a person's reputation even further without any real evidence or court case to back up your claims? The PFT commenters are typically morons, but instead of "paying him off," maybe Big Ben's lawyers threatened to sue the guy causing him to back off his statements? I'm not sure how that works really.

It should be slander. And if he was sued for it, he couldn't defend the claim without the woman's consent to mention what she thought happened.

Forget facts, there's a different between making mistakes and simply being a "bad guy." With Roethlisberger, I'll go with the latter.

Should AT LEAST get a 2 game suspention, if it happens twice it just more to think about.

Goodell set the precedent - it isn't about proving what you did, it's about penalizing players for attracting bad attention to the league, because players obviously control the media.

The lawyer made a pass at Big Ben, Big Ben rejected him and he proceeded to make a false accusation.

I agree with the idea that Goodell hasn't been consistent in his punishments of NFL players. He seems willing to jump in and throw down preemptive suspensions on some players, but when it happens to a guy like Roethlisberger he has plenty of time to sit down and wait for all the facts. I was excited that he was going to try and clean up the NFL but that's never going to happen if he's going to give preferential treatment to star players.

^this, on top of which I find it stupid he decides to suspend players proven innocent or yet to be proven guilty. I completely agree with OZtitan and Raven here.

This lawyer has to be a complete idiot to say this when he won't be able to substantiate it. But saying an attorney is doing something sleezy is pretty much redundant, no?

Players absolutely can control the media. All they have to do is stay out of bad situations. There's having a good time - which many, many players do regularly - and there's shooting up strip clubs and assaulting women. Seems pretty simple to me. Use your brain a little bit and stay out of trouble.

Somehow Goodell is a bad guy b/c Big Ben and/or his entourage can't keep it in their pants, or at least stick it in a girl who is consenting? I'm sure it's Roger's fault PacMan can't keep away from strip clubs, right?

These guys are all responsible for their actions. What's worse is that they continually put themselves in terrible situations.

As far as we know Ben is innocent, if you're out in public and somebody accuses you of something you didn't do, you don't have any control over that.

I made no comments about Ben's guilt or innocence. It is completely irrelevant to my point.

I do like how you assume "somebody accuses [Ben] of something [Ben] didn't do", though. That's cute.

You have to assume he is innocent until he is proven guilty.

Actually, no. A jury of his peers does. But, again, Ben's guilt or innocence is irrelevant.

He can control what situations he creates for himself.

Agreed. Maybe if he'd stop getting drunk and chasing after skanks he wouldn't get into trouble like this. If I were making the kind of money he makes I wouldn't put myself at risk like that.

Bring 'em all home to the sex room . . . fully wired for video so there's always evidence that they were fully consenting. Problem solved. And it makes for great viewing during down times. :D

They must be trying to kick him while he is down, or otherwise Big Ben is a ******* piece of **** douche bag with a moral compass so ****** up that I am surprised he can find his way to Heinz Field.

Based on the police reports from the Georgia accusations, I'm leaning towards the latter.

I am sensing a Law and Order SVU episode based on Big Ben with Jason Segel playing his role.

if this were Odell Thurman or Chris Henry Goodell would have been pulling the noose around their necks and getting ready to kick the bucket.

RT @dpavlik Here in Pittsburgh radio there are rumors going around that St. Louis is in town talking to Steelers about Ben ...

04-15-2010, 01:25 AM
Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports reports that the Steelers may be at their "tipping point" with Ben Roethlisberger.
A tipping point is defined as "the culmination of a buildup of small changes that effects a big change." A source tells Robinson that Steelers ownership is "shaken" by the onslaught of fan discontent with Big Ben. While we don't see a Roethlisberger trade as likely, it's well known that coach Mike Tomlin believes Dennis Dixon has a future as a starting quarterback in the NFL. The Steelers may listen to offers for Big Ben leading up to and during the draft.

The Rooney's don't F around. It's definitely a possibility, folks.

If Charlie F'ing Whitehurst stops the Seahawks from acquiring Marshall and Big Ben...

Yeah this has been an insane offseason. I doubt Roethlisberger gets traded but if he does that would be ridiculous, two young franchise QB's traded in consecutive offseasons

I would love it, Ben absolutely owns the Browns and single handily has won 2 or 3 games against us including one in 2007 when we were trying to make the playoffs for once.
