View Full Version : What Veterans Could be Traded on Draft Day?
gpngc

I've read something about all of these players possibly getting moved. Who else could be dealt? There are usually at least a couple of veteran players dealt on draft day each year.
-Albert Haynesworth
-Jared Gaither
-Jason Campbell
-Marshawn Lynch
-Ronnie Brown
-Osi Umenyiora
-Jammal Brown
-Kirk Morrison
-Thomas Howard
-Rocky McIntosh
-LaRon Landry
-Mark Clayton
-Ben Roethlisberger (.01 % chance I know)
So who gets moved? To whom and for what?

I see somebody taking Morrison for a 3rd or 4th and us going Jamar Chaney in the 3rd.

I could see Derrick Johnson being moved. He's probably better suited in a 4-3 anyway.
Not really sure what he'd command, but if I'm the Chiefs and someone offers me a 3rd I take it and don't look back.

from what I believe, I think the Ravens will throw Gaither's name out there, but I don't think they'll go in with the intent of trading him, probably just to see what they can get.

If the Ravens are seriously considering offers for Gaither then someone will grab him. Lynch is a strong possibility. I don't think anyone will trade for Campbell because everyone believes he'll be cut.

If you can get a 1st round pick that can be turned into Joe Haden or Eric Berry, then yeah.
And then with the other 1st round pick get Kyle Wilson or Kareem Jackson, and maybe even another CB in the 2nd round, and you just rebuilt a secondary from scratch.

Look at the Redskins. Possibly looking to trade Haynesworth, McIntosh and Landry??? WOW!!!
The Redskins should just stay with the 4-3 because like BUF, switching to the 3-4 is only going to cause more problems than solutions. And as a 49ers fan, I know. It took my team five seasons to finally have an all-around good defense and a NT which is the most important part.
Add Redskins DE/OLB Andre Carter too because as all 49ers fans know, he didn fit in at OLB in the 3-4 at all.

I would love Gaither for our second and either Landry or Samuel for our 3rd. Maybe a Clements for Samuel trade??? :)

Hmmm. You would have to believe that they want to give LT a good amount of carries - they did sign him to a hefty contract. And Shonn Greene should get at least 10 carries a game. Where does that leave Washington (especially with more weapons on the outside now)?
Hmmmm. The Packers make SO much sense. LW signed his tender, correct?

And I forgot about GB, that is a solid fit. Tennebaum(Jets GM) is best friends with Thompson(GB GM) and have made deals before(Favre) so it could be a solid fit.

I expect Miami to move Justin Smiley at some point over the three days. Ronnie Brown could be had but I don't think we'll give him away.
Will Allen, Anthony Fasano (particularly if we use an early pick on a TE), and either Chad Pennington or Tyler Thigpen are also guys I could see us moving.

If the Packers have the opportunity to move a 3rd for either Sproles or Washington, then I really hope they do it. It'd be foolish not to. Kills two birds with one stone. A returner and a 3rd down back.

They also placed that on him before they traded for McNabb, they lost all leverage they had. I would give up a 4th, no more though. I don't see us making a move for him at this time at all though, right now we're banking on Favre coming back, and unless we draft a QB to groom, it will be Sage and T-Jack behind him. If we find out later that Favre isn't coming back then maybe we'd go after him, but that would be long after the draft tomorrow.

If McClain is off of the board at 15 but JPP isn't I wouldn't be surprised to see the giants take JPP and trade osi to the rams for #33. That's a deal that's been rumored a lot and makes sense for both teams. Plus if JPP's on the board he very well could be the BPA.

A number of Cowboys could be had, despite JJ saying he wouldnt move Barber or Crayton. Seeing either moved, wouldnt surprise me.
Sam Hurd has officially been placed on the block. I'm hoping one of your teams with a ****** or young receiving core comes a calling. Here's looking at you Cleveland, Oakland, Chicago, etc. Hurd's solid, he's just trapped. Highest of character players, non-stop worker (put on about 20-25 pounds of muscle since coming in the league), probably possesses the best hands on our team, easily the best blocking receiver on our team, and he runs clean/crisp routes. Pick him up and give him a shot!

Actually the blog says this:
"Team and league sources remain convinced that the Redskins will trade DT Albert Haynesworth on Friday, most likely to the Titans for a third-round draft pick.
......
Several executives from other teams don’t anticipate the Redskins receiving more than the 77th overall pick for Haynesworth and also expect him to be traded Friday."

Patty Crayton is officially on the block, looks like we'll look to move him or Hurd before RW. Though were going to need another WR here soon. RW is cut after this year if we can't find a suitor, if Hurd and/or Crayton both get traded that just leaves us with Austin as a #1, Dez as a #2, and Ogletree as our slot WR.
Unless we draft a CB with return skills none of those guys will return any kicks(past Dez doing punts initially) and we are going to need at least a few other solid guys at some point whether it be this year or next.
Somebody should be interested in Crayton for a move up, that would probably be of more interest to us then a 6th or 7th.
