According to this article it's a one-year, $1.7 million deal:

Love this move for New England.

Well everyone who has us taking Dez in the first can cross that one off.

Yeah, I like the WR group as of now. Moss - Welker - Holt - Tate - Edelman, not bad. I could stand to add someone else but it's not a huge priority in my opinion.

Wow, that offense is going to be OLD going into next season.
How many more years do Moss-Brady-Holt have in them? 2 at most?

No they can't. Holt will be lucky if he stays with New England for more than a season. Moss is on the last year of his contract. Welker and Edleman are slot guys and will never be able to play on the outside. Brandon Tate still is very unproven. They are going to need a stud WR on the outside in a year or two.

Fortunately for the Patriots they have Oakland's 1st rd pick in 2011 with potentially Julio Jones, AJ Green, Michael Floyd and Jonathan Baldwin all available. One of them will be a Patriot in 2011.

As said earlier, we have two firsts next year. I'm not worried about our WR core, Brady won superbowls with branch, brown, givens, patten etc... its not like he needs all first round talented wrs to win.

Don't worry, I won't switch to the dark side. But Big Game being on the Pats is an alternative reason to hoping for a re-match of super bowl 36.....

I don't think they'll take Bryant, but you have to be kidding if you think signing a 34 year old washed up has-been in the reason they'll pass on Bryant.

a very smart low risk move by the pats, I thought he would sign with the bears.

Good move. Holt was productive last season except in the TD department and was released probably for a bigger youth movement in Jax.

Yes, this signing alone is the reason I said that

If you'd have said to me 5 years ago the Pats would have Randy Moss, Torry Holt, Alge Crumpler and another WR who has had three consecutive years of more than 100 catches I'd have called you crazy. Unfortunately at least two of them can't produce near where they used to be able to and Moss is a year older and Welker is just coming off a bad injury. Im officially starting the 2011 bring Julio Jones or AJ Green to New England campaign

I had been thinking about WR for the Pats in the second round, that is out of the window now, unless maybe a guy like Demaryius Thomas dropped. Even then I find it highly unlikely.

Thank God. Hopefully now we can forget about WR in the first two rounds.

I remeber when Tom Jackson said that Torry Holt would have a better career than Randy Moss lol......

Holt had a pretty amazing career for himself. He's old now and he might not have been the player Moss was, but 920 catches for 13,000 yards and 74 TD's is nothing to laugh about.

Love the move. We'll start the season with Moss, Holt and Edelman/Tate until Welker gets healthy.
J.Jones or AJ Green... can't wait to see you in a Pats jersey next year!

This is why I was excited for the Seymour trade, we will have a stud WR next year, throw a dart, the WR talent next year is insane

I am one of Randys biggest fan and I just know talent wise and stat wise, Randy destroyed him but Holt is still a HOF, pretty good guy off the field as well, great example of a role model.

The Patriots are not going to draft Dez Bryant regardless. If you think so, you don't know Bill Belichick very well.
The Patriots are not going to draft any of the 4 possible #1 WRs next year either, unless they fall to them at 32nd (or wherever the second pick is). The first pick will be a franchise piece like a LT or DE (or QB... don't rule that out).

Ya huuuurdd.
I know, I know.
It will be interesting to see how Holt fares. A lot of people claim he's over the hill, and that may be true, but at the same time he hasn't had a legitimate quarterback throwing to him since Marc Bugler of 2006 in my opinion.

I like Torry Holt, but if the Pats are looking for him to be what he was on "The Greatest Show on Turf", they are a few years too late. Maybe he'll be the Junior Seau of the offense for N.E., but he's not going to take minutes from Edelman or Welker, or even Aiken, for that matter. Since he still has deep speed, from what I saw last year, he might be able to spell Moss once in a while, or if Randy gets hurt.

I love it. Now we just need Dez to put an exclamation point to this WR corp.

Pats won't go receiver in the early rounds now.
I love how they sign the oldest players the possibly can.

BB signs vets like Holt because you can get the most out of them. Most of them want to win a championship before its over and they play their hearts out. Especially when they are excited and come in to a good team.
Holt will start opposite Moss IMO with Edelman in the slot until Welker is back.

I wonder if this is going to be another Joey Galloway situation where he winds up running into his age like a brick wall. I hope not. Galloway's Pats run made me sad. :/
