very good, but 2b could be better

Obviously a Yankees fan! I like the majority of your overall starters except for Bobby Abreu, but I'm sure he'll get back to old form so you'll be good there. Phillips is a bit of a question but he can swing a good bat so no major worries there either. One word of advice though: Don't count on anything from Mark Prior! He's found the strike zone again but his fastball is in the LOWER 80's! He may struggle to secure the 5th starting spot and you may want to invest in another starter.

^hitting looks good. Pitching is a little weak. Esp relief, IMO. What round did you nab Matsuzaka? I was targeting him in my draft but he went sooner than expected.

Here's mine: Yahoo public.
C- Paul Lo Duca
1B- Albert Pujols
2B- Julio Lugo
SS- Miguel Tejada
3B- Hank Blaylock
OF- Delmond Young
OF- Willy Tavaras
OF- Nick Swisher
UTL- Barry Bonds
BEN- Ian Kinsler
BEN- Adrian Gonzalez
BEN- Troy Tulowitzki

SP- Jake Peavy
SP- Ben Sheets
RP- Francisco Rodriguez
RP- Brad Lidge
P- Joe Borowski
P- Jeremy Sowers
P- Felix Hernandez
BEN- Cliff Lee
BEN- Roger Clemons

I plan on Kinsler becoming my starting 2b, and Lugo being the guy that plays for the people who have the day off (2b/ss/3b) or for a team going up against Santana or someone...

The Rocket will pitch half a year for 20 mil, and he'll be great for the playoffs... I would like to dump Tulowitzki, but I don't think there will be that many takers for trade, nor is there anything worth while in the waivers currently...

This is what I am hoping one of my two teams will look like after trades...

(20 teams):

C. Bard
1B. Konerko
2B. Cano
3B. Wright
SS. Betancourt
OF. Holliday
OF. Markakis
OF. Ethier
UTL. Helton
UtL. Jacobs/Scott/Gordon/Betemit

SP: Bedard, Vazquez, Garland, Garza, Bonser, Escobar
RP: Soriano, Gonzalez, Shields

Players traded: Kotchman, Wang, Wagner, Suppan

I need to trade for someone to get me saves.

I don't know...even for a 20 team league this team seems weak. Your RP are weak and none are guaranteed to get more than 10 saves. Your hitters are decent. Wright, Cano, Konerko, and Holliday are all solid, but I'm not thrilled with the others. You do have pretty good depth for a 20 team league. I really don't like Betancourt as a starter; there's at least 15 guys better than him at SS. The SPs are pretty good for this big a league, especially when you have a guy like Escobar as a 6th starter.

I drafted this team last night. 12 teams, 5X5. I had the 5th pick:

C - Joe Mauer
1B - Victor Martinez
2B - Josh Barfield
3B - Ryan Zimmerman
SS - Jose Reyes
CI - Lyle Overbay
MI - Ian Kinsler
OF - Grady Sizemore
OF - Adam Dunn
OF - Raul Ibanez
OF - Jeff Francoeur
Util - Aubrey Huff
Util - David DeJesus
BN - Mark DeRosa (2B, 3B, OF), Mike Jacobs (1B), Carlos Quentin (OF)

SP - Ben Sheets
SP - Brett Myers
SP - A.J. Burnett
SP - Andy Pettitte
SP - Derek Lowe
RP - Bobby Jenks
RP - Takashi Saito
P - Scott Shields
BN - Freddy Garcia (SP), Salomon Torres (RP)

The Mauer / Martinez thing just happened. I drafted Mauer, a whole round went by and nobody took V-Mart, so I took him because he has 1B eligibility. I might look to trade Mauer for an elite RP. Shields might switch with Torres because Torres will be closing but I'm not sure whether I want to give up ERA for saves. If Jenks and Saito are strong, I'll keep Shields there.

If you do't care, don't post here...that simple. You obviously care if you took the time to post here...

I'll take KCJ's rep down for that one...

Anyways, Belish, I like your pitching, but between Mauer and your bench, hitting may be a bit weak. I think if you can get some trading done, you can def. have a good team.

fine... overall, you have a very good team. The thing I don't like most is your bench for the offense. Beltre and Blalock are both good, but they are both 3B and you already have ARod... Granderson is fine.

Joe: Getting Vlad with a 2nd round pick is aces, and I really like Hanley Ramirez as a contributor this year, that's also a pick that could reward you times over. It's interesting how the picks in your league turned out.

This is the first year I've taken part in fantasy baseball, and the private Yahoo league I'm a part of had our Draft just this afternoon in fact. I landed the 7th overall pick in a 11-team league, and here are the results:

Geo's Argonauts: 2007 Draft
1 (07) Alex Rodriguez 3B
2 (16) Carl Crawford OF
3 (29) Justin Morneau 1B
4 (38) Michael Young SS
5 (51) Johnny Damon OF
6 (60) Jeremy Bonderman SP
7 (73) Gary Sheffield 1B, OF
8 (82) Julio Lugo 2B, 3B, SS
9 (95) Jonathan Papelbon RP
10 (104) Carlos Guillen SS
11 (117) Dan Haren SP
12 (126) Chipper Jones 3B
13 (139) Jeff Francoeur OF
14 (148) Ervin Santana SP
15 (161) Bob Wickman RP
16 (170) Michael Cuddyer 1B, OF
17 (183) Freddy Sanchez 2B, 3B, SS
18 (192) Chris Capuano SP
19 (205) Adam Wainwright RP
20 (214) Jason Varitek C
21 (227) Ryan Dempster RP
22 (236) Jose Contreras SP
23 (249) Aaron Rowand OF

Waiver wire claim
(-) Aaron Rowand OF
(+) James Shields SP
Not to toot my own horn, but I thought I landed some pretty good picks. I'm no fan of ARod, but I didn't hesitate taking him at the 7th overall pick. Getting Carl Crawford in the 2nd round was even better, and Michael Young in the 4th could say the same. Shef could be excellent value as a 7th round pick, especially given the eligibility for the OF position. Julio Lugo is a player I targeted early in the pre-draft process, I think playing in that Red Sox line-up will serve him (and me) well plus he gives me a starter at the thin 2B position. Hooray for Boston naming Papelbon as their closer beforehand. I was fortunate to land some potential steals in the rounds afterwards (Guillen, Chipper, Sanchez, etcetera).

I picked up Rowand with the final pick in the draft for OF depth, but decided afterwards that I should use that roster spot to bolster my pitching core with the promising Shields and thusly put in a claim for him as noted.

I just discovered that Sanchez may have to go on the DL for the first few days of the season and that Francoeur has been playing ridiculously well in the pre-season, so there's a minus and plus respectively.
